SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 145 millimeters(5 3/4 inches) Breadth: 79 millimeters(3 1/8 inches) Thickness: 80 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) CONDITION: Very good. No repairs but the majority of glaze is gone. A little wear and a few blemishes consistent with any decorative item which was buried for over one thousand years. A very thick alkaline soil deposition layer. Not flawless, but certainly in a better than average state of preservation– and unrepaired! Stands on its own. CONDITION: Very good. Minor porcelain chips. There are minor chips in the porcelain glaze at the rider’s right front shoulder; to the rider’s waist, behind, center; to the back side of the horse’s right leg; at the edge of the horse’s stomach, right side, center; and at the rider’s left elbow. There is as well a scattering of minute porcelain chips throughout, and the top of the horse’s right ear is also chipped. Other than cleaning, there has been no restoration work. I learned, and my wife reminds me, not to take apart, clear, or alter anything we purchase. So with that I am sorry but I do not know who the maker is. I did look very carefully and do not see any cracks, chips, nicks, or crazing. The lamp measures 15" tall including the shade. The figure including the marble base measures 8" tall. As you can see from the photos the plug appears to be European. I lived in Europe and know you can get adapters for these or simply change the wiring. Antique Porcelain Lady Man French Figural Candle Holder BEAUTIFUL & RARE!
This is a GORGEOUS set of RARE antique porcelain figural candle holders! They are dressed in French attire. BEAUTIFUL FACES! The lady is wearing blue/green gloves and is in an ELEGANT low cut dress with matching blue/green design. She has gold plate trim and her shoes are also gold plate. The gentleman is wearing a ruffled shirt and his pants and jacket have the same pattern as the lady's dress. His long jacket has the blue/green cuffs. And inside is blue/green too. He is wearing blue/green shoes. They both have the BEAUTIFUL ROSEBUD LIPS! Lots of GOLD PLATE trim all over. Nothing identifiable on base. BEAUTIFULLY MADE! They both measure 7 1/4" tall. 4" wide, by 2" deep. They are in really good condition with no cracks or chips and the man has a few places that are missing a very small amount of paint on his collar and ... moreon the jacket inside there are three small areas with paint missing. The center/ top candelabra portion features 4 delicate, tulip-shaped cups- 1 atop, 3 down- and fits into the base(attaches/detaches quite easily) Beautiful piece of artistic craftsmanship. The detailing is quite remarkable and the colors vivid. Blue underglaze mark features Meissen crossed swords with the letters'DKF' impressed beneath: Beautifully hand painted in pastel shades of pink. They are highly collectable pieces in excellent condition. These were hand made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. they were professionally wired for bulbs. The wires can easily be removed to use candles as originally designed. A pair of these candelabras in less than perfect condition sold here. On ebay in 2010 for 995. This fine quality porcelain base for a candelabrum dates from the early 1900s and measures 12 ½” tall x 6 3.8” base) with the double figure group alone 8 ½” tall. Item: Luigi Zortea Candelabra For your consideration is a stunning pair of early Luigi Zortea porcelain candelabrum. Ornately decorated with a musical couple holding instruments and adorned with relief flora. Both impressed Italy and Luigi Zortea mark. The male figure has had his foot repaired and a some of the flowers have chips. Not as noticeable as one would imagine due to the amount of ornate detail. They measure 1/2" high x about 11" at widest. Two very decorative and exceptionally fine pieces. Luigi Zortea opened his studio in Bassano. Near Venice, in 1912 and his family has kept the firm in operation through the 21st century. Zortea never reached the worldwide acclaim of Mollica or Cacciapuoti or even some of his neighbors such as Ronzan but this, in part was due to the small output of the studio and Luigi's inability ... moreto attract the attention of the larger importers. Offered in this sale is a pair of antique German porcelain figural candle holders that were made by Sitzendorf in Germany in the early 1900s. They measures roughly 12" tall x 6 7/8" in diameter at their widest across the base. They are both marked on the underside of the base with a blue crossed lines mark and are also each impressed with the number 182. The condition is very good. There is minor loss to the tips of many of the very delicate flower petals which is often the case with these early foliate pieces. Otherwise, there are no other chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration. Be sure to enlarge and magnify each image for a close up view of the detail and condition.
