This is a really nice heavily carved antique Victorian walnut pediment or panel. It has a nice center panel or medallion along with brackets on each corner. Floral cornices and carved trim. It measures aprox. 40 3/4" wide(33 1/4" wide at the top) x 23 1/2" high x 4 1/2" deep. There is a small piece of trim missing at the top left which you can see in the pictures, we may have a piece that can be used. Overall it is in good condition. Antique hand Carved Victorian Gothic Mahogany Column Capital Architectural Piece
This exceptionally nice architecturally inspired column measures 35 ½” tall x 13 ¼” square at the capital x 11 ¼” diameter at the carved cushion base. All of the wood is solid mahogany EXCEPT to very top ¾” of the 10 ½” tall capital which is mahogany veneered birch. The veneer is lifting on the corners as shown. As the photos show. The mahogany has rich grain and the capital is DEEPLY carved with naturalistic leaves and flower blossoms and crisp volutes on the corners. You will note old age/shrinkage cracks in the capital but no loss. The finish is a dry old refinish from many years ago and there are traces of old black finish in the details. It has some superficial scratches and scuffs that will disappear with some lemon oil. The piece comes in 3 sections for easier, more affordable shipping.
