Vintage Hand Painted French Or Italian Style two drawer chest or commode ~ this chest has the most lovely Old World Feel to it because it is painted in the most beautiful rich tones of color on a deep beige golden background and it has all of the curves but creates an elegance but not a daintiness appeal ~ a drop dead gorgeous bouquet of flowers is painted in the front center extending over the two large drawers and there is an equally as lovely bouquet painted on each side ~ the bouquets are filled with many meadow flowers and the theme appears to be a deep blue in between a teal and a blue with a deep mauve rose. Off white daisy type flowers, wisps of lilac flowers, thing greenery tied with a darker blue toned with light blue center ribbon in the front bouquet and a rich tone of deep pink ribbon on the side bouquets ~ the center carving ... moredips lower and has a blue teal floral design as does the sides of the front doors- these smaller designs are quite lovely but they only accentuate the beauty of the large bouquets ~ there are two large handles on each drawer and decorative keyhole designs all a dark bronze color and metal ~ the top is very curvy and is faux painted in a medium tan tone with darker painted veining running throughout characteristic of many beautiful hand decorated pieces from the 1950's time period. There are some scratches in the top wood piece which is faux painted but nothing detracting ~ there is an area where a crack seems to be wanting to form as shown in my photo at the top right side of a drawer ~ other than that. There is the typical slight chippiness to sides and feet area but this is the look and the painting is vibrant and gorgeous on the piece and nothing detracts from it's unique loveliness! Vintage 60s style Drawer chest
I bought this credenza and the matching side chest in 1996 in a trendy downtown Vintage furniture store. Which specialized in 60s/ 70s. I used it in my 4 downtown apartments since then, so it has definite wearmarks. The top of it is fine, and the small chest as well, but the door n the right came off( is fixable) and the plastic plate from it fell of and the inner part broke, but it can be glued back on. On one of the drawers are visible crack marks, where i glued the pieces back on. All is fixable and the drawers work very well. VINTAGE SPANISH STYLE LIFT TOP TRUNK / CHEST

This listing is for a Spanish style trunk that came from an estate in California. It has hand forged iron hardware and measures 34 1/2" wide x 18 5/8" in depth x 17 1/4" high. It is a thick pine wood and is fairly heavy. There are large wood knots in several areas that add to the look. It is missing the wood in one knot at the rear of the trunk where the right side hinge is. Photograph# 2 and 9} Although this piece of hardware is attached to the trunk below the knot hole. It is missing a hinge pin that affects the operation of the lid. It does open and close but would need to be fixed. The left side rear hinge pin has a tightly wound piece of what appears to be tape around the end of the ... morehinge pin preventing it from slipping through the hinge{photograph# 2 and10} The hinge is serviceable but would also benefit from a new hinge pin. The latch on the front lock was bent forward at some point{photo# 7} and the lock key has long since gone missing. Please use the close up feature to get a better look at all the descriptions.There are age and use marks over different areas of the trunk. I do not know the exact age of the piece, but my best guess would be maybe 1960's- 1970's. This would make a nice home decoration as is, blanket storage after some hinge repairs, or perhaps a base for a coffee table after a good piece of heavy clear glass is fitted to it. The serpentine shape is indicative of the Georgian period style and lends the piece an air of elegance. The crotch mahogany that is found on the fronts of the drawers was cut from a single piece and separated into five different drawers that graduate in size as the descend. The all brass oval pulls on the drawers have recently been replaced. The bracket feet are the finishing touch on this elegant piece of history. The top two drawers have locks but no key is present. Overall in good condition. There are some cosmetic issues to mention on this lingerie chest. The top has a small ding on the left side and some very light, old marks here and there. The drawers open and shut easily and the oval pulls are in great shape. There is a bit of crazing on the fronts of the drawers which is evident in the images. You will also notice some dings on the feet. The overall look of the chest is quite handsome and the patina of this piece will only continue to become more beautiful throughout the generations.
