antique C.Hermann Milwaukee Crock fruit jar canning primitives pottery 1856 rare
This is a true antique canning/food storage jar made by the C. HERMANN COMPANY of Milwaukee(1856-1886) Actual exact date of this piece is unknown due to lack of information on the production from this company. This crock was painted gold at one point by a previous owner. paint stripper does not harm the jar and I used it to strip the paint off until I could find a side stamp into the clay. Identifying it as a C. HERMANN CO. MILWAUKEE item. After using this item to store long handled kitchen utensils for a few years I no longer have the space for it so it needs a new home. Research the company and you will find that these crocks are hard to find. This item was brown glazed inside. no repairs, cracks, or chips.
