This highly attractive reproduction American Chippendale Highboy emulates closely after the Philadelphia work centers. Probably crafted during the last years of the 19th century, the entire case is crafted by hand with thick solid walnut planks for primary surfaces. All secondary woods are heavy solid planks of oak, poplar and chestnut. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the bottoms chamfered along the edges and set in grooves in the drawer frame. The brilliant brass batwing hardware is original to the case. The broken-arch pediment boasts robust carved rosettes set beneath a deep molding flanked by flame carved finials. Of the eleven drawers lining the facade, two are embellished with recessed shell carvings, the knees and apron likewise showcasing detailed shell forms. The entire case rests over cabriole legs terminating in trifid feet. This is an absolutely gorgeous reproduction for anyone passionate about the American Chippendale form. Remaining in an exceptional state of preservation. This is a piece that was built to last many lifetimes. Measurements: 82 1/2" total height(top is 51 1/2" high. Along the same lines as Hans Wegner's"Cigar" chair design for Getema, these beauties were also made in Denmark in the 1950s and just as well made. Unlike so many of chairs in this style that appear on Ebay. These are not a combo of woods or a generic hardwood stained to look like teak. They are each 100% SOLID TEAK throughout(sides, seat, arms and back) with removable upholstered seat and back cushions. Great looking from any viewing angle and they provide excellent comfort. Cushions are the original heavy inner spring design, so no fear of them loosing their shape verses just foam. Upholstery is a wonderful neutral oatmeal color woven wool, so will match in any color scheme decor. Seat backs will remove so each chair can ship in its own box via UPS oversize. measurements Overall each chair measures 31.5" high by 25" wide by 29" deep. The seat cushion is 20" wide by 4" high by 21" deep. The distance from the floor to the top of the seat is about 17" high at the front tapering back to 14.5" at the rear. condition Excellent with just light age and a handful of very minor soil marks on the cushions. They are hard to see and in no way warrant needing to be redone as the fabric is in overall excellent shape. Straps looks to have been replaced at some point. BOY SCOUT ORDER OF THE ARROW [OA] FELT BROTHERHOOD SASH 1940-1950
This is a Boy Scouts of America ORDER OF THE ARROW[OA] FELT BROTHERHOOD SASH. This sash was awarded to a Scout or Adult Leader who completed the Brothershood requirements in the Order of the Arrow prior to the introduction of the twill sashes. I am told this was used from about 1940 to 1950. The sash has the symbolic red arrow with red flocked bars above and below the flocked arrow. The 13" red arrow and 13/16" bars are flocked on white felt. The sash measures about 60" long by 2 1/4" wide. The measurement from snap to snap is 52" Overall I would conside this in good condition. NOTE there are several mothing holes and several partical mothing places on the sash. See Photos. I accept paypal and other means of payment which can be mailed to me.
