A rather fabulous wooden antique vintage French double violin case. Circa 1850. The label inside reads: Rue Marchande. 17, à Bordeaux. PILLEMENT Luthier de Paris. Painted wood domed/sculpted top. All original brass fittings. Wonderful smooth handle on the top. The tip of the handle base plate is missing- this does not affect its use. Central lock- the key is missing. Two brass hinged fastening catches have a good opening/closing action. The brass back hinges are original and robust. All original fitted interior with opening loops on all the resin and string compartments. Good swivel action for the two bow retainers in the lid. Original ribbons to help take out the instruments. The original label is inside one of the compartments. The black original paint to the case is wonderfully worn. The handle and closing hinged clips are fabulously ... moresmooth to the touch. The red interior( I think it's wool) has wear. This case has been loved and used a lot in the past. There are. Or were two strips of wood on the underside, one is missing. So is the key. As mentioned above. This beautiful case will take a pair/two violins. The length of the internal fitted compartments is 23.5 inches- 60 cms. The width for the neck is 1 inch- 2.5 cms. Vintage Chinese Black Lacquer Box w/Domed Porcelain Shard Top LARGE
Measuring 11-1/4" long. This is the largest box of this type we have ever listed. The black lacquered sides of the chest-like box are hand painted with floral scrolls and flowing designs in green, dark red and golden yellow accented with gold. The top features an inlaid porcelain shard from an old vase which is painted with birds. Flowers and butterflies. The form of the box follows the curves of the vase. Measures 11-1/4" L X 7-1/4"D X 6-3/4"H CONDITION: previously owned. Age unknown. Has a few nicks here/there- in very nice condition compared to others we have seen over the years.

This Victorian Style. Floral designed, Bird Cage is in very good condition with very mild wear consistent with it's age and use. It is decorative and functional. It is hand painted, eye catching, and clean. The table top cage rests sturdy and even on a flat surface and is free of any wobble. The cage opens from the bottom by a drop door that operates with ease. The main colors appear to be hunter green, burgundy, and mustard. The floral design along the top trim accents the main colors with an addition of a lighter green and varying pinks. This bird cage was recently found in an old dark crawl space in a basement in Havertown. Pennsylvania. The aged house was scheduled to be demolished and the bird cage was rescued the morning of demolition. It is beautifully footed with ornate feet and has a great dome shaped lid. it is done with an abundance of intricate ornate detailing and done in very high relief. There are many heavily embossed cherubs on all sides and top of the box and are surrounded by wonderful patterns. Flowers, and scroll detailing. the lid opens and closes on a hinge and is lined with nice blood red velour or felt lining. even the bottom is very detailed. it measures 6 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. there is a locking mechanism in the front with a key hole. the key is missing and the top hinged lock part is missing. otherwise the box is in great shape. Pre-Owned: Nice Mint Condition Estate Item This is certainly a most exquisite Butter Dish manufactured by F.B. Rogers somewhere in the mid-1800's. The butter dish is silver plated. Roll domed lid, and is lion faced with claw feet. It is missing the original glass dish. There is a small dent on bottom of tray. Butter Dish is lightly tarnished and has some markings from age. Should clean up very nice with a good polish. I realize this item is originally designed to be a Butter Dish. With all the detail it is so lovely it also works very well as a Jewelry Tray- especially with it having the roll top dome lid. Scenery all over. The back center column has a cottage with German mountains in the background, a cow in a field with a fence, clouds in the blue sky, a finely detailed fruit tree with a man fishing in a brook, and a water mill in the brook by a barn, and far off in the distance you can see another farm house, birds and other super fine scenic details, a swan in the brook, etc. The top train track has a 4 car train with yellow engine with green roof, green passenger car with red roof, black car appearing to be filled with coal, and red caboose with yellow roof. Each of these cars is about an inch long with a black undercarriage. The bottom ... moreblue base is metal. The yellow handle at the top pulls out a metal bar that makes it spin. Here is the coolest part- the trains move in opposite directions when it's spinning! The train on the bottom has 4 cars. A red engine with a blue roof and green bottom. A green cargo car with yellow cargo, looks like corn or something. A blue round tankard car. And a yellow caboose with red roof. The engine is about 1-3/4" long. No reserve. A very fine old Northwest Coast Makah or Nuu-chah-nulth lidded early domed top trinket basket dating from the very early 1900's. The basket is finely woven( approx.16- 18 stitches per inch) from split cedar bark and naturally dyed twined bear grasses. The stunning imbricated design features four ducks swimming around the periphery and four ducks swimming around a central green sun on the lid.and a fabulous sun motif on the lid. The basket measures 3 1/2" in Diameter and stands 2"tall and is in very good condition with no splits or repairs noted. The natural dyes have muted somewhat over time and as expected with great age. Antique Deer / Pony Skin Domed Top Studded Travel Trunk Chest c. 1800
A stunning antique domed top travel trunk dating from circa 1800. This was made to be used as a travel trunk and would have sat on the back of a coach and horses. Of wooden construction. Covered with deerskin or possibly pony skin with leather studded detail and iron strapping over all edges. Much of the hair is gone from the skin but what remains is a reddish brown colour. The skin is present throughout. In areas on the sides and back it is rather rippled I think there would have been initials in studs on the top either side of the studded diamond shape. The old holes are just visible and I think say MJ. Parts of the iron strap work are heavily deteriorated. Particularly on the top surface which would have been exposed to the elements. There are small areas of the leather strapping which are missing too. The two iron carry handles appear ... moreoriginal. There is a lock plate to the front with a second plate below it. The lock is present but there is no hasp or key. Internally the timber seems sound. There is damage and wear around the hinges. But support is given by the leather straps inside which take pressure off the hinges. The base has two timber feet which run the full width front and back. There is wear to the corners of the front one and some old worm damage. This has been treated for precaution and is not active. Measures: 67cm x 42cm x 43cm high This is a great period piece full of character. Which has obviously had a long history of use. I have tried to describe all it's wear which is all consistant with great age. Please feel free to ask any questions or request any specific photos. Antique 1838 Wooden Domed Top Oak Immigrant Trunk Sea Chest Heart Iron Straps
This is one beautiful antique oak trunk that has a date of 1838 but I think it might be older like the late 18th century just not sure. It measures 47 1/2" wide 23 1/2" deep at top. 20 3/4" deep at bottom and 28" tall not including wheels. This trunk is in Excellent condition for its age but there is a crack in side and a piece of trim missing on side also looks like a piece of an iron strap is missing at the open lid handle also someone added wheels a long time ago. The name ANNA CATRIENA JLSABEIN LANDWEHR 1838 is on the front. The iron straps are thick with a rare heart cut out design. The bottom trim has old paint hard to see looks like red and white stripes I think. Construction was done with wooden pegs and the bottom is held together with wooden dowels. Wow can you believe I have the original key and the lock still ... moreworks. I think the trunk is German but don't see and maker name. The photos do not show the beauty of this antique chest.
