It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty.
