Up for Auction aVintage Gusle Instrument. Beautiful Wood hand Craved with a head on the top of the neck. Also included a simple carved bow. That looks like a goat or ram's head. From what I can find this is a Yugoslavia double string folk fiddle. But I'm not sure. Body and neck are intricately carved wood. Back of base is a carved head. The bow is also craved wood but more simply. Looks like it was stained a dark brown, the bow looks like horse hair and some kind of resin glue on ram faces. Also there are there is a crack in wood and a crack around neck that makes it somewhat loose there. Please see pictures. The Gusle at least that's what I think it is has a skin front This instrument only has 2 strings as designed. But not sure you can play this. This auction is for a beautiful hand crafted wooden Folk Art Bowl. This bowl is a large size and would hold anything you wanted. It could even be made up as a centerpiece bowl with pine cones and berries. The bowl has a 9 1/2 inch diameter. 5 inches high and bowl opening 4 1/2. The bowl has a carved foot on it so the bowl is not directly flat on a table. This bowl is so colorful with all shades of creams and browns. There are many, many different lines and stripes. I do not know what the wood type is, but it is very colorful. On two sides on the top of the bowl, has natural tree bark at the.sides of the bowls opening. The artist must of been a master carver. I like this piece.then again. I like all of the items I find. This is a hand carved bust. The estate I purchased this from said the carving came over from Jamaica in the 1970's. She said Customs had looked it over several times thinking that it was hollowed out for transport of drugs. Not the case. The head is solid wood and weighs exactly 8 lbs. It's 12" tall and about 8" wide. Roughly the actual size of someone's head.go figure. Nicely detailed and very cool. Rare Antique Wooden Primitive Miniature Hand Crafted Folk Art Child Chest Mirror
You are bidding on a great primitive handmade childs miniature mirrored chest. This is a very unique rare old piece. We found this piece in the barn of an estate that we purchased. I hosed it down with furniture polish but really needs a good cleaning. This piece has been there for years and years. Still has the original mirror but it is broke in two places on the sides. The top mirrored part needs to be tacked back on it was barely on there when we found it. The dimensions of this piece are 27" height x 18" width x 14" depth weight is approx. 22 pounds.
