James W. Tufts Boston James W. Tufts Boston. Made by renowned silver makers James W. Tufts of Boston Massachusetts. This striking cream pitcher and sugar bowl are circa 1870’s-1880’s. This late Victorian silverplated set is marked with the design number 1938. The gorgeous design features bold florals in deep relief and reeded curved handles. The creamer has a parcel gilt interior, the sugar has no gold wash on the interior. Both pieces stand 5 1/8” 13 cm) tall at the handles. This pair has no monogram or inscription. These two are in very good condition. With no dents, breaks, or repairs. Both pieces have minor wear on the outer top rim, lower edge, handles, and on the high-point edges of the busy design. The interior of the sugar bowl has lots of utensil scratches and tiny gouges. The interior of the cream jug has fewer scratches, but it ... moredoes have a few tiny pits. Description UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION; Antique Victorian era Silver plated sugar bowl and creamer. Measures 3 1/2 inches high and diameter is about the same, sugar bowl is 6 inches wide at handles. They have some dents but display nicely. Flower etching are very detailed and quite stunning in my opinion. Quadruplate stamped on the bottom along with102. Quadruplate is a process were the amount of silver used is 4 times normal. 8 troy oz per 144 teaspoons as opposed to 2 troy oz per 144 teaspoons what ever that means. Marked with a web with a center W, the number 677 and quadruple plate on the bottom. Th is is not perfect. It needs additional cleaning but responded well to the cleaning done with just a cloth so far. There are tiny dents o n the bottom edge of this piece when closing examined. Antique Sugar Bowl(Marked Barbour Silver co. 2445) Barbour Silver Co. appears to have been a marketing company for I J Stearnes& Company of thier silver plate goods started by Samuel and Charles Barbour in the late 19th century in New Haven. Connecticut. It was originally called Barbour Brothers Company, located at 64 Market St. in New Haven. By 1892 the company was renamed Barbour Silver Company, but by 1898 it was purchased by the International silver company. AESTHETIC Silver Plate Creamer & Sugar Bowl, Victorian, Antique Spooner or Vase
Ornate 19th Century Silver Plate Ornate 19th Century Silver Plate. Large and ornate late Victorian creamer and sugar bowl in the Aesthetic Movement style. This pair was made by The Meriden Britannia Co. of Meriden. Connecticut and date from the 1870’s-1890’s. They are style number 1919 which features repousse foliate decorations in a diagonal banner across the sides of each piece. These two have no monograms or inscriptions and their interiors are parcel gilt. The sugar bowl may have had a lid originally but it does not have one now. Measured at the handles. The sugar stands 7 1/8” 18 cm) tall, and the cream pitcher is 7 3/8” 18.8 cm) tall. Condition: This pair is in fair condition. As it has quite a bit of wear to the silver layer. There are no breaks or repairs and the only dent we found was on the top rim on one side of the creamer(see ... morephoto) Both pieces have many surface scratches. The gilt inner surfaces have worn some over the years and the gold is now paler than it was originally. The interior of the sugar bowl has pitting as one would expect to find on a piece that was used as a planter at one time. Here is a great estate find. It being a Victorian Era art glass Sugar bowl in an ornate metal Holder. The bowl is in a blue glass and has swirls in its glass. The holder has place hangers for 12 spoons on the sides and is composed of silverplate and, or pewter or some other metal composition. It is ornate. The frame goes to a squared off shape at the top. Please look at all the pictues to see its ornate designs. It is in mint condition. It needs some more cleaning or polishing, I am leaveing it in its original condition. It displays to great advantage. Rare for sure.

Great example of Victorian silver plate. Lots of etched and embossed designs on the large sugar bowl. It measures 3 3/4 inches high and 7 1/4 at the widest part of the handles. In good antique condition with just a little plate loss to the body and plate loss to the bottom edge that sits on the table. Also there is a dent that I photographed showing to the inside of the bowl. Also a slight dent to the outside edge at the bottom. But still displays very well and is clean inside. This represents a time when our table was really decked out! There was a piece for practically everything! Here we have a Sugar bowl. Lidded, with fixed racks/holders for 12 spoons around it! It is marked on the bottom Middletown Plate Co Middletown, Conn#74 It is an URN style. Very decorated around the borrom, and top below the lid, 2 handles, serious tarnish, and possibly some plate loss. I am not sure. You would really have to get it cleaned up to determine if there is any wear thru areas. The lidded sugar bowl stands 5 1/2 inches tall and is 6 1/2 inches wide. The waste bowl stands 5 1/4 inches tall and is 6 inches wide. Both pieces are tarnished and in overall good condition. The sugar bowl has two small dents and the waste bowl has one small dent while both have a couple barely noticeable nicks. Victorian Silverplate Sugar Bowl & Cream Jug, E. G. Webster & Bro. NY
Recently acquired is this antique American Victorian silverplate sugar bowl with lift off cover and the matching cream jug. Beautifully engraved with decorative elements including birds and fencing. Each piece is marked on the bottom E. G. WEBSTER& BRO, NY, QUADRUPLE PLATE, HARD WHITE METAL and the number 36, and these pieces most likely date from the 2nd half of the 19th century. The previous owner indicated that she often used these two pieces for serving milk and sugar. The sugar bowl measures approximately 7” across the handles. And is approximately 6” tall to the top of the finial on the cover. The cream jug is approximately 5 ¼” across the handle to the tip of the spout, and approximately 4 ½” tall. Condition: both pieces are pretty good, but show evidence of prior use. Each piece has one shallow dent on the side(although ... morethey are minor) and the vertical side edge on cover is pushed in in a few spots(but it still fits, see photo) There is some loss to the silver plating, but it is not too bad, and there is some more noticeable loss of silverplate on the inside bottom of the cream jug. Victorian Silver plated Sugar Bowl with Blue Art Glass Insert
A silverplated sugar bowl holder. Probably in need of replating. One side of the handle also has come loose, and needs to be reattached. This has holders for 12 spoons, and sits on 4 legs with heron decoration. The blue opalescent glass insert is all in fine condition with no chips or cracks, and I am certain that it is original to the holder. Offered here is an Aesthetic Victorian(1870-1900) piece with a great little bird sitting atop the sugar bowl lid. Which is the main reason I bought this. However I am still parting with some of my favorite things. As I just do not have the large parties like we used to and have run out of storage space. In addition the gracious curved handles each have a bitty figural squirrel/rabbit inside. As they extend from the urn shaped body of the bowl. I say a combo of rabbit and squirrel. There are the numbers 2626 stamped the bottom with the name of the silversmith, Ralph Strickland, Albany, NY. This silversmith was born in 1831 and did his work in Albany. It looks like most of the silver has been polished off. 3 3/4" tall x about 4 1/4" diameter. With the handles about 6 1/2" wide x 4" tall. The top opening is 3 1/8" diameter. Large for a sugar bowl. The design is really great on this bowl. The front and back look like the design is etched. The design on the trim around the top and the handles are raised. The front has a small dent that is barely noticeable. And the back has bigger dent(pictured) I usually don't purchase dented items. But this is a really interesting and rare piece. The original glass possibly broke long ago and has been replaced by a glass bowl that fits snugly but does not reach the very base of the silver plate bowl. It still works well. No chips. Cracks or damage to the glass. The plating has normal wear for the age and still beautiful. I would rate it at very good condition with no dents or monograms. These are antique silver quadruple plate Creamer and Sugar bowl made by Woodman-Cook Co. between 1892- 1893. This company was taken over by Stevens Silver Co. in 1893. It is in fair condition with a ding on the sugar bowl and it is missing the cover. They are aged and have not been cleaned so I'm not sure of plate loss due to the amount of tarnish from over the years. The bowl measures 4" tall(without the lid) by 5" at its widest. Yet simple, design with graceful handles and lid, probably from around 1900, but not dated. 6 ½” tall and 6 ½” from the tips of the handles. The base is a little over 3 ½” It does not sit level– teeters slightly- and I don’t know why as there are no dents on the base. A few tiny nicks on the bowl, but hardly noticeable. Needs to be polished if you like shiny things. I used it for flowers and it always looked lovely in the middle of my dinner table. Questions gladly answered. Sold as is.
