This ... moreset. Patented in May, 1898, is in great condition for its age, which I tried to show in photos. All the silver plating on each piece appears to be completely intact. Each piece has an engraved florar/fleur-de-lis styled markings. The rims and handles are also adorned with a beautiful raised relief floral& wreath design. Each piece is marked on their bottoms and is also stamped 5. This is truly a gorgeous set. The sugar bowl has a small blemish right under the rim.see last picture) The sugar bowl is also missing its original lid. The creamer has a couple of small dents. Both are small and only noticeable with careful inspection. It also has a small speck.see pictures) All measurements are approximate. The sugar bowl measures 3 1/2" high. 7 1/2" from handle to handle and the opening is 4 1/2" wide. The creamer measures 3" high. 6 1/4" from spout to handle, the body and the opening is 3 1/2" wide. They are heavily tarnished but they do not have any kind of damage out of some scratches from too strong scrubbing on the bottom. The sugar bowl is approx. 6" high with the lid and 6 1/2" wide with the handles and the creamer is 3 3/4" high and approx 5" wide with the handle. The good quality quadruple plating make them feel heavier, stronger and smoother to the touch. They can be very nice, decorative pieces in a collection or as a display items in a home. 4 Pc Antique Van Bergh Quad Silver Plate Creamer Sugar Butter & Waste Bowls
This listing is for an antique Van Bergh quadruple plate creamer. Sugar, butter& waste bowl. The pieces(excluding the butter tray and cover) are marked: Pat'd May 10 1898 The Van Bergh S P Co Rochester, NY Quadruple Plate ~ they are also numbered 468 on the bottom. The creamer is 3 1/4" to the rim and 6" handle to spout. The waste bowl is 3 1/4" to the rim and 7" handle to handle. The covered sugar bowl is 5.50" to the top of the finial, 3.25" to the rim and about 7.25" from handle to handle. All of the handles are secure and they all have a nice etched floral design. The round butter cover is not marked as well as the 5.5" diameter tray. There are dings and dents throughout and they all could use a light polishing. This ornate set of antique quadruple silver plated sugar bowl and creamer was made by the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company. Rochester, NY, somewhere between 1892-1926. Both of them have the company mark and the#25 stamped in their bottom. They are heavily tarnished but they do not have any kind of damage out of some scratches from too strong scrubbing on the bottom. The sugar bowl is approx. 6" high with the lid and 6 1/2" wide with the handles and the creamer is 3 3/4" high and approx 5" wide with the handle. The good quality quadruple plating make them feel heavier, stronger and smoother to the touch. They can be very nice, decorative pieces in a collection or as a display items in a home. Here's a beautiful. Old quadruple plated silver plated sugar& creamer set from the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company of Rochester, New York. This set. Patented in May, 1898, is in great condition for its age, which I tried to show in photos. All the silver plating on each piece appears to be completely intact. Each piece has an engraved florar/fleur-de-lis styled markings. The rims and handles are also adorned with a beautiful raised relief floral& wreath design. Each piece is marked on their bottoms and is also stamped 5. This is truly a gorgeous set. The sugar bowl has a small blemish right under the rim.see last picture) The sugar bowl is also missing its original lid. The creamer has a couple of small dents. I am aware that silver cleaners usually like to clean their own products so I have not touched this pretty set. Wonderful detailed work on the handles and edges. Also both have beautiful engraving. They have a burnished/matte and shiny finish typical of the Victorian period. Included is a large covered sugar bowl. Creamer and a waste bowl/spoon holder. They have been engraved with a wonderful design on both sides. They also feature ornate rims, handles and spouts. The nicer Victorian sets embellished the"open" pieces, such as creamers, with a gold wash. All pieces are marked on the bottom PAT'D. MAY 10,1898, THE VAN BERGH SILVER PLATE CO. Antique silver– believe it's nickel silver. Three pieces. Exactly as shown. One with lid. Dent in one piece and very small dent in the lidded piece. Assuming one is a creamer and the other two are sugars. These are all marked on the bottom. They are a matched set. I believe the N and S in the Mark stands for nickel silver. But am not sure. Mark reads: VB Co NS 518 Esti 4.25" H without lid. I believe that this is the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company. They were founded in 1892 by brothers Fredrick and Maurice Van Bergh. In 1925. They incorporated as the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company, Inc. In 1926, they were absorbed by Oneida Community Limited and moved from Rochester to Oneida New York. Lovely outer surface condition; minimal surface scratches or marks; silverplate is worn in spots. Inside surface is rougher, but I believe was that way from time of manufacture. Has been only minimally polished. Despite how it may appear in photos. Surface currently has an antique satin sheen/patina, not a high silver polish. Hollow handles. Lovely engraved/hammered design and ornamentation. Measures about 3-1/4"3-1/2" tall. About 7" from outer handle edge to edge, about 2-1/2" diameter opening, base is 2-3/4" in diameter. Silverplate sugar bowl, Van Bergh Co, vintage antique
This antique silverplate sugar bowl is part of a set that originally had sugar bowl with lid. Creamer, and small pot. Only the sugar bowl remains in this set which is what is for sale here. The bottom is smudged. But used to say Patented on May 10, 1898. Now only has date. Also on bottom it is stamped 468. This bowl was probably made after the patented date. But I believe the company no longer made it after 1899. The Van Bergh name is no longer on the bottom. But you can see the Rochester, NY(which is where it was made) I have not tried to clean it. Except briefly with a silver polishing cloth.

Hello& Welcome, Here's a beautiful. Old quadruple plated silver plated sugar& creamer set from the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company of Rochester, New York. This set, patented in May, 1898, is in great condition for its age, which I hope the photo's show fairly. All the silver plating on each piece appears to be completely intact. Each piece has an engraved florar/fleur-de-lis styled markings. The rims and handles are also adorned with a beautiful raised relief floral& wreath design. Please use the"zoom" feature to look at the photo's as this is a beautifully detailed set. Each piece is marked on their bottoms and is also stamped 468. This is truly a gorgeous set. The sugar bowl is the only piece with a blemish on it. It has a very small dent on one side where it's engraved. It's a small blemish but ... moreit may be able to be seen in photo#10. The sugar bowl is also missing its original lid. The sugar bowl measures approximately 3" high, 7" from handle to handle, 4" at the widest section of its body and the opening is 3 1/2" wide. The creamer measures approximately 3" high, 6 1/4" from spout to handle, 4 3/8" at the widest section of its body and the opening is also 3 1/2" wide. Lovely vintage sugar and creamer. Very ornate. Made by Van Bergh Silver plate Co. Both pieces marked: Patented May 10 1898 Rochester. NY 468 Quadruple plated. Sugar bowl has lid and is 5 5/8" tall. Creamer is 3 1/8" tall. Each piece has a dark spot on the inside. I think that these are in very good condition, except for a few small scuffs from use. No returns on these items.
