Vintage Lehman Bros gold wash silver plate sugar and creamer pewter handles
Offered is a vintage sugar and creamer set from Lehman Brothers. This is an unusual set in that it is stamped Silver plate and has a gold wash. Each piece is adorned with a very fine etching of a garland ending on each side in some sort of floral arrangement accompanied by a geometric design from which the garland is suspended. see pics)The only history for Lehman Brothers(LB) that I was able to find is that they operated in New York in the 1930's. The handles appear to be pewter. The creamer stands 3 1/2" tall and is 4 7/8" from spout to handle. The sugar stands 3 1/2" tall and is 6" across the handles. Up for auction is a Evans silver plate. Art deco, 8 sided gold washed cream and sugar set. This set is in great condition with no dents or dings but could use a nice polish. Each piece is monogrammed with a"P" The sugar bowl measures 3 5/8" in diameter, 5 1/4" wide from handle to handle and 2 3/8" tall with the base being 2 1/4" in diameter. The creamer is 4" tall at the handle, 2 1/2" at the widest point and 3 3/4" tall at the 2nd tallest point with the base being a little under 2" in diameter. Each piece is marked"Evans EPNS X13" under the base. This would make a great addition to any Art Deco collection! They have a burnished/matte and shiny finish typical of the Victorian period. Included is a large covered sugar bowl. Creamer and a waste bowl/spoon holder. They have been engraved with a wonderful design on both sides. They also feature ornate rims, handles and spouts. The nicer Victorian sets embellished the"open" pieces, such as creamers, with a gold wash. All pieces are marked on the bottom PAT'D. MAY 10,1898, THE VAN BERGH SILVER PLATE CO. ONEIDA COMMUNIITY LTD SILVER PLATE CREAMER AND SUGAR SET WITH GOLD WASH INTERIOR
Be sure to add villagewares to your favorites! This set of ONEIDA COMMUNITY LTD. SILVER-PLATE HANDLED CREAMER AND SUGAR has a gold-color wash interior. It's British linage is indicated on the back mark which consists of 3 British mars. Oneida Commnity Ltd, and the pattern number 609. The simple design is enhanced by raised overlay feather or leaf designs on the handles. The two pieces stand 2 1/2 inches tall to the top of the handles; They each have a 2 inch diameter base which rounds out to 3 inches on its' straight sides and narrows to a 1 1/4 inch rim. Rochester Stamping Company Baroque Styled Sugar & Creamer w/Gold Wash Interiors
This sugar and creamer set is made by the Rochester Stamping Company of Rochester. New York and the two are silver plate with a gold wash on the inside of both. The set is styled in the Baroque tradition with multiple serif's on the carrying handles, bead work around the rims, and multiple serif's on their footed legs(pictured#1 thru#3) The two are in'good' condition however, the creamer has no gold wash on the very bottom of the inside of it; maybe from using to strong of silver polish while cleaning it and the sugar bowl is in perfect condition. The creamer measures 3" tall X 4 3/4" wide and the sugar bowl measures 5" wide X 3 1/2" tall. The pattern number on the bottom is too hard to read as it is not incised completely making it illegible however. The pattern name reads: ARGENTINE" on the underside ... moreof both the creamer and sugar bowl. The sugar bowl holds 1/2 cup dry ounces& the creamer holds 1/2 cup fluid ounces. Creamer& sugar sets in more recent times make great collector's pieces as they are oftentimes ornately designed like these two and they are also made from porcelain china. Magnificent Gorham silver plate sugar bowl and creamer. Gold washed interiors. The open sugar bowl has some pitting in the bottom but that does not alter it's usefulness. It measure 6" from handle to handle and 3 5/8" tall. The creamer is marked"1/2 pint" and measures 4 7/8"tall and 4 1/2" wide. The fluted bodies are bordered at the foot and mouth with garland detail.
