Dimensions: Sugar Bowl is 3-1/4" tall to the handle(2-3/4" tall to the rim edge) With a 3" inside opening diameter. Creamer is 3-1/4" tall to the handle(2-3/4" tall to the rim edge) With a 3" inside opening diameter and is 5-1/4" across from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle. Design: Applied raised decor of grape bunches and leaves with ornate handles. Estate Hand Chased English Silverplate Sugar Scuttle Bowl w/ Scoop Silverplated
We acquired a large amount of mid-century English hotel quality silverplated holloware from a Fairfield County. Connecticut estate and will be listing some of the items this week. Here we have a gorgeous silverplate sugar scuttle or bowl with the original scoop. This lovely piece is hand chased(engraved) with a floral decorative engraving on the top. The edges of the opening have a very traditional beaded treatment which is repeated around the base. The handles at the top and back are done in a rococco style. The entire scuttle swivels on the base. It is just beautiful and modelled after sterling silver sugar scuttles from the 1700's. It is meant to hold sugar cubes. Personally, I serve cubes of raw sugar at the end of dinner parties with coffee and tea and my guests are always surprised and enchanted by this. The scuttle is about 5.5" ... moretall to the top of the handle and about 6" wide from the tip of the mouth to the edge of the handle on the back. This piece is silver plate over copper. Which makes it more valuable than today's pieces which are plated over a base metal. This particular piece probably dates from the 1930's-early 1950's. Aside from sugar cubes. I could see this pretty container used in the marble bathroom to hold cotton wool or Q-Tips or even guest soaps. You could also possibly use it for potpourri but I would probably line the bottom with waxed paper first to keep the silverplate from tarnishing. Our items are vintage and are sold'as is. Antique/vintage 3-footed English silverplate creamer. Manufactured by Mappin& Webb. Beautiful, ornate design features a beaded edge, swirled handle and a shell-type top to each foot. SILVERPLATE REPRODUCTIONS OF EARLY ENGLISH SUGAR, SALT BOWLS AND PEPPER SHAKER
Finest designs of early English and Continental silversmiths. This Master Salt. Sugar and Pepper Shaker are hand-crafted for authentic detail. They consist of 92-1/2% of pure silver over copper and nickel and are lacquer sealed for tarnish protection. They are all footed with Lion's heads and paws. Each piece is repoussed with the Master Salt and Sugar having Cobalt Blue glass liners. The Sugar measures 4"W x 3-1/4"L x 1-3/4"H and has a handle and shell lid opener. The Master Salt measures the same as the Sugar bowl and the shaker measures 3-3/4"H. A small silverplated spoon is also included as well as the original velvet lined box. All are in excellent condition with a few minor rubs to the silverplate. They were made in Japan and imported by the Holiday Imports, Inc. Company in San Francisco. This lovely little Antique Sugar Shell was made in England by Folgate. It is 3 1/2" tall. 4 3/4" long and 2 7/8" wide. It is Silverplated on Copper and it is in good condition; no dings or dents but there is a small spot of Plate loss where the Copper is showing on each side of the bowl.

Up for sale is an unusual English cream pitcher or jug. It is made of Britannia silver. Which does not polish to a lustrous shine. Instead it has a gray gun metal finish, which is very attractive. This lovely little pitcher is full of visual delights. There are dotted lines around the top and bottom; rows of diamonds around the body; and horizontal lines framing the mid section. Which also has an oval for a monogram on each side of the pitcher. The oval cartouche has been left blank. The ample handle begins and ends with a flourish.
