These are occasionally misdescribed as being ... moreopen salts. But salt attacks silverplate and so we know this was a sugar bowl. It is fashioned in a Victorian interpretation of 18th century Classical Revival style. And the exquisite engraving was all done by hand. Underneath the base is the wording: MADE IN SHEFFIELD. ENGLAND/ HAND ENGRAVED" around a set of hallmarks. With an incised legend that reads: GL504NT/24" although I have no idea of the significance of those letters and numbers. The scuttle stands 5 3/8" high and has minor marks of wear to the inside.

ANTIQUE 1718 ENGLISH 958 SILVER SUGAR BOWL w/LID Presented is a very nice old English first standard silver sugar bowl with lid. This piece dates to 1718. It's worth noting that the silver purity used is 958. A higher degree of purity than sterling which is 925. The sugar bowl is done in a very classical style, raised on a pedestal base. There is a large shield crest engraved on the body, and a smaller crest of a man's profile on the lid. The interior of the lid has a marriage inscription or monogram of'R& B A' The base has another monogram of'DW' A fantastic piece of antique English silver, just shy of 300 years old and in great shape, ready to join your collection. This piece is hallmarked on the side with the Britania mark for 958 purity ... moresilver. The lion's head erased for the city of London, the date letter C for 1718, and the maker's mark for William Fleming. The lid is also hallmarked with the lion's head erased and the maker's mark. This piece is in great overall condition. There is some surface wear. As should be expected considering age. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece stands approximately 3 inches tall with lid. And has a diameter of about 4.5 inches. This piece weighs 190 grams or 6.6 regular ounces. Good luck and bid with confidence. Excellent English craftsmanship with this beautiful simple statement sugar bowl. Stamp for Mappin& Webb LTD London and Sheffield. The Silversmiths to the Royal Family. I believe it dates somewhere between 1900 to 1924. Most likely 1914. Other marking is a circle above a diamond. In the circle is a letter I. In the diamond from top to bottom clockwise are: 14. D, E, 10 and in the center of the diamond is Rd Weight: 4.1 onces Nice size 2" High by 6.0" from handle to handle I combine ship on multiple orders and all savings go to buyer. England OPEN SUGAR and CREAMER Fluted English Silver Plate From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this Gorgeous and Pair of Antique FLUTED SILVER PLATE CREAMER and OPEN SUGAR made in SHEFFIELD. ENGLAND. These classic pieces have gadrooned edges and feathered upturned handles. Both pieces are 4” tall to the top of the handles. With the sugar 7 ¾“ handle-to-handle and 3 1/2” front-to-back while the 12 ounces capacity creamer is 5 34” front-to-back and 3” front-to-back. These are in excellent used condition with no dents but do obviously have a fair amount of blush showing through at some of the fluted areas. Barker Brothers English Silver Plate Creamer and Saucer Creamer is 5 3/8" Tall- Saucer is 5 1/2" Diameter Very Beautiful Scroll and Floral Pattern! Set is in very good condition. It really shows very little wear and age. There is one flaw. A small soft dent by the handle, the last picture shows the dent, but is was hard to photograph. There are no other dents or major scratches and I don't see any plate wear. It could use a good polishing.

There is no reserve on this beautiful Silver Plate Sugar Scuttle& Scoop. Here we have this lovely 19 th c. sugar scuttle with original scoop. It is English and marked EPBM and we think the maker’s mark is H& H Co. but it is hard to make out. There is also a# 9306. The design of this piece is very simple and elegant with only beading around the opening and echoed around the base. There are two matching handles on the top and on the back. The very back has a sort of repousse starburst design. The scoop fits into an ingenious little loop under the opening of the scuttle. Not sure about the hallmarks(tried to make them readable in pictures) and don't know much about this beautiful item but I understand it was used for the sugar cubes at tea time. It stands 7" high and the basket is 3 1/4"x 2" deep. Very little wear for being so old. The engraving throughtout the entire basket is very detailed and is visable on the inside. This week's estate sale turned up some MARVELOUS finds! For my buyers who like silver plate from England. We found a nice little sugar or sweetmeat basket, with a delightful turned or twisted handle, glass bowl liner, and silver plated spoon. The spoon is stamped Sheffield, but the basket is simply marked"England" I am assuming they go together, but am not sure, and am also not sure of the age of this set, although all of the collectibles at the estate sale were 1895-1950. This set needs to be cleaned of tarnish. I used a silver cleaning cloth on the spoon only, just to make sure it would clean. I find no chips. Cracks, or imperfections, other than those listed herein. Up for sale is an unusual English cream pitcher or jug. It is made of Britannia silver. Which does not polish to a lustrous shine. Instead it has a gray gun metal finish, which is very attractive. This lovely little pitcher is full of visual delights. There are dotted lines around the top and bottom; rows of diamonds around the body; and horizontal lines framing the mid section. Which also has an oval for a monogram on each side of the pitcher. The oval cartouche has been left blank. The ample handle begins and ends with a flourish. An interesting English Staffordshire sugar shaker from around 1880. It is an atmospheric piece depicting an Eastern scene inspired by themes from the British Empire. It measures just under 7" high. It has an EPNS silver plate top with the makers stamp S&B. It is excellent condition with no damage.
