Antique Vintage Derby Silver Plate Company Creamer and Sugar Bowl
A Derby Silver Plate Company Creamer and Sugar Bowl. Each piece is marked Derby Silver Plate Co in a circle surrounding a crown and anchor. The numbers 1111 are etched below the mark. The pieces each measure 2 3/8" in height and have a grape pattern. CONDITION: Nice. Obviously tarnished. And the handles show some wear. A few rough spots along the rims and some fleabite nicks along the bottom edge. I didn't want to clean or remove the tarnish, so both pieces will need cleaning. I purchase all of my items at auctions so cannot be sure of their history or whether they've come from smoke-free or pet-free homes. I do my best to list any damage or use. But I'm not an expert. This is an Elegant Silverplate Sugar& Creamer Set made by the Derby Silver Company. The Company was founded in 1872 and was one of the original companies that became The International Silver Company. They went out of business in 1933.This is a 20th century set. The base reads"Derby S. P. Co. International S. Co. 1688 EPNS W. M. Mounts" The Sugar is 6" tall& 6.75" from handle to handle. I am offering this nice Derby Silver Co. large sugar bowl with lid.It measure 3 and 3/4th" across the top opening.It is 4" tall without the lid. My guess is that it would be used for sugar cubes. Offered for sale is a hand-beaten silver plated 3-piece art-deco serving set consisting of an oval tray(size 10" x 6-1/2" A sugar bowl(size 4-1/2" x 3" high) and a creamer(size 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 5-1/4" high) The pieces are in remarkably good condition for their age, with no visible wear or dents on any surface, except for a few scuff marks at the bottom of the tray. Antique DERBY Silver Plate Footed& High Collared CREAMER& LIDDED SUGAR Bowl This auction is for an Antique 1870's Derby Silver Plate Long Legged and High Collared Creamer and Lidded Sugar. The Creamer measures: 7" high x 5 1/2" wide. Spout to handle. The Lidded Sugar measures: 9 1/2" high to top of finial x 8" wide. Handle to handle. This old set is in pretty nice condition. There are no dents or dings. No monogram. There are no bends to the collars or the legs. Great designs all over. Nice etchings of Birds. Bamboo Shoots and Leaves, Flower Pots, Asian person with Fan, Cattails and Cords with Tassels. Very Ornate Feet. Legs and Handles. Drapery Tassel Design around the base edge and top rims. These do sit straight with no wobbles. There are some plate wear spots on the Lidded Sugar. In a few areas. The interiors ... moreare pretty clean. There is a plate wear spot on the interior of the Creamer. This Design Style. With the High Flaring Collars and Long Legs, was very popular around 1874- 1879. By 1880's. The Winning Bidder gets this BEAUTIFUL SILVER PLATED LIDDED SUGAR BOWL& CREAMER. Attractively simple. This is the work of the Derby Silver Plate International Silver Company. EACH PIECE(not the lid) is marked Derby S. P. Co. International S. Co. 1602 EPNS W. M. MOUNTS The Sugar Bowl stands ~3 ¾” tall to the top of the knob on the lid and is ~6 ¼” wide from handle to handle. The Creamer will hold ~12 ounces of cream and is ~2 ¾” tall to the tip of its spout and is ~5 ½” wide from handle to spout. Hard to find sugar bowl and creamer matched set from The Derby Silver Plate Co. Conneticut which produced silver plated items for a fairly short time before the great depression. The factory still exists and is now owned by a subsidary of the BF Goodrich Co. producing foam rubber products. This set really shows its age with some corrosion inside and some dings and heavy patina. Still a piece of American history with historical value. Wonderful rose design all around. No cracks or breaks. Reads"Derby S.P.Co" 1144 on the bottom of each. Will ship safe. Happy bidding!

Description: It is 7 1/4"H with the lid. The bottom part alone is 4 1/4"H and 4"W. There is a hole on the bottom. I guess there must have been a glass liner? If it were for jam or some such thing there should be a spot in the lid for the spoon but the suggestion of a glass liner would lead me to believe it must have been made to hold something wet. If you know what this was meant to serve feel free to let me know. No dents or pitting or plate loss. Excellent condition. Just tarnished. Needs a good polish.
