This is a Vintage/Antique covered butter/cheese dish.Says on the Bottom Copyright 1888 Then a picture of an Anchor Gorham Co. 0810 Silver Soldered. New Haven Silverplate Etched Covered Butter Dish - Unique!!
Up for auction is this very unique New Haven Silver Company etched covered butter dish. This piece is in very nice used condition with the normal wear and tarnish to the silverplate. However, the knife holder prongs are broken off(see photos) I have not attempted to clean this as the petina makes them unqiue. I would date this to roughly the early 1900's. The piece is marked on the bottom with"New Haven, Silverplate" It has a very unique etching or punching of the silverplate to create the floral design you see, and it is done on both sides. The lid has an insert that fits inside the lid to keep butter cool(by filling with ice) A very unique set. I also have the matching creamer/sugar and spooner for this set also separately listed. Tufts- Quadruple Plate- Boston- Warranted- 1940"there appears to be another number stamped on the underside.it looks like the number 32 but the 2 is hard to make out. Then there's the Butter dish with the glass insert included. Also included in this lot is a bowl typr tray, footed. heavy also and somewhat matches the sugar and creamer set.
