W.M. Rogers Silverplate Sugar Bowl with Lid T his is a beautiful piece from W.M. Rogers. It is a silverplate sugar bowl with lid. Scrolled Handles. Flower Bud Finial. Bears the Eagle and Star silver mark: One of the original members of this clan was William Hazen Rogers. His company produced coin silver in the first half of the nineteenth century and during those years. The“ Eagle Wm Rogers Star” mark was placed on the back of these coin silver pieces. Some trusted sources state the specific dates were 1825-1841. William Hazen Rogers had two sons. One of whom was William Henry Rogers. This son later changed his name to William Rogers, Jr. evidently to be more closely aligned with his father’s name. The son granted a license to Simpson, Hall, Miller& Co. to use the“ Eagle Wm Rogers Star” mark on silver plate pieces. This license was valid ... moreduring the years 1878-1893. When International Silver took over the Wm Rogers Company in 1898. They also received rights to this mark. That company continued to make silver plate pieces with this mark for a number of years- both flatware and hollowware. The mark was discontinued in 1976. Sugar Bowl stands approx. 5" tall from the top of the finial to the base. It is approx. 5" wide from handle to handle. No dents or dings. Antique WILCOX Quadruple Silverplate Footed Sugar Bowl 1937 /with Double Mark/
This amazing antique quadruple plated footed sugar bowl made by the WILCOX Silver Plate Company obviously had some hard times during its long life. There are a larger and two smaller dents and one of the soldering at one of the handles got loose but none of these damages hurt the silver plating or the beautiful antique patina of the bowl. Besides this. Incised into one of its sides, the bowl features three gothic characters, my guess is that they are the"CTP" letters. Its another, probably unintentional characteristic is the doubled company mark on the bottom with the number"1937" Standing on its four ornate feet, the bowl is 7" high with the lid and 7 1/4" wide including the also ornate handles. Due to the ornamentation, the quadruple plating and its quality material, the bowl is a surprisingly heavy, sturdy ... moreand very decorative piece. This piece originally belonged to my grandmother and was passed down to my mother. Ellis Barker English Silver Plate Creamer & Sugar Bowl Scallop Shell Mark 1912
Here is a very nice creamer and sugar set. Marked on the flat bottoms with a Scallop Shell and the word England. My research finds it to be Ellis Barker or Barker Ellis, Birmingham, England from 1912. Please correct me if I am wrong. A nice rope edge goes around the openings. Each is monogrammed on one side- looks like G A H. The sugar bowl is 7" across the handles x 3⅞" to top of handles. The creamer is 5⅛" across handle x 4" to top of handle. Absolutely adorable cream and sugar bowl silver plated they measure 2~1/2" tall in height and approximately 2~1/2 inches wide. They do need to be cleaned both have a few spots in the inside of them. HISTORIC HOTEL WASHINGTON CRESTED SILVER SUGAR BOWL,1952 DATE MARK
Vintage 1952 date marked heavily silverplated sugar bowl from the historic Hotel Washington in downtown D.C. Measures 5 1/2" long(tip of handle to tip of handle) x 3 1/4" wide at the midsection x 2" height. One side of the bowl shows an affixed crest from the hotel. Stamped on the base Reed& Barton silver soldered 0168-H 5 oz. Hotel Washington along with R& B elephant date mark for 1952. The bowl is in nice condition with no dents and minimal. If any silver loss. Nice collectible. Starts low with no reserve.
