According to his listing on the 1880 census, at the time, he lived in Medford, Massachusetts, and was a manufacturer of silverplated soda fountain components. On June 23rd, 1885, he was issued a patent for his original designs and improved process for imprinting Britannia silver and other soft metals with said designs. This late Victorian silverplated set is marked with the design number 1938. The gorgeous design features bold florals in deep relief and reeded curved handles. The creamer has a parcel gilt interior, the sugar has no gold wash on the interior. Both pieces stand 5 1/8” 13 cm) tall at the handles. This pair has no monogram or inscription. These two are in very good condition. With no dents, breaks, or repairs. Both pieces have minor wear on the outer top rim, lower edge, handles, and on the high-point edges of the busy design. For your consideration is this antique Coal Shuttle Sugar Bowl and spoon. Silverplate. With lovely floral chased designs. It has 5 hallmarks. I believe it is English and the maker may be James Dixon and Son. The first few hallmarks are JD& S, in gothic lettering, plus 2 other hallmarks. The sugar bowl measures 6" tall, 6" wide, and 3" deep. This is the shovel scoop spoon that came with it, has shell designs, marked, EPNS Sheffield England. The sugar bowl and spoon are in nice condition. I haven't polished it, some tarnish inside the shuttle.

It stands 5 inches tall and weighs a little over 5 ounces. Those looking may very well be able to identify it's age by the markings or the style it is made in. I will leave that up to you to decipher. It is very solid without cracks or breaks. It stands on the base soundly and is in good condition. But it does have a slight out of round appearance. It is no matter, as it has it's original patina and has held it's age appropriately. The inside of the creamer, as shown, has some splotches in it. Up for auction is an Ornate Victorian Antique sugar cube( or condiment or olive holder( It is 8" tall with the lid in place. Has ornate handles and a pedestal. The original glass possibly broke long ago and has been replaced by a glass bowl that fits snugly but does not reach the very base of the silver plate bowl. It still works well. No chips. Cracks or damage to the glass. The plating has normal wear for the age and still beautiful. I would rate it at very good condition with no dents or monograms. What a gorgeous little piece of Victorian silverplate! Made by James Dixon& Sons. Of Sheffield, England in the late 1800s, this creamer is diminutive in size, but huge on impact. Done in a combination of repousse, stamping, and engraving, the design features a scalloped spout, several variations of swags, fruit, and decorative design. The bottom is marked with a horn and banner, and: JD&S, EPBM, 4209, 1/4. J* B, and a hand engraved 849(probably for insurance purposes) Stunning! Has some damage; there's a small dent by the handle. The detailed fruit design includes pineapples. Pears, grapes, apples, and berries. The border on the bottom has hearts and fleur de lis. The bottom notes it was made by James W. Tufts, warranted quadrupleplate, Boston, with form number 3180. Size: Approximately 5 inches high and 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest point. Condition: The silverplate is in good condition with no flaking. Some wear on the high points, and some small surface scratches consistent with age. There are no dents and the inside is clean. Antique James Dixon & Sons Sheffield Silverplate Sugar Bowl & Creamer c1835-1920
Antique James Dixon& Sons. Sheffield England, silverplate sugar bowl& creamer. These two pieces are a matching set each with the corresponding pattern number of 51902 and both marked James Dixon& Sons, Sheffield, EPBM, and a monogram of what looks to be an E and R overlapping. The creamer measures 5 1/8" tall to the top of the finial on the handle and 4 3/4" wide from the spout out to the handle. It is marked with an"A" and"1/2" on the bottom. The sugar bowl measures 4 1/4" tall to the top of the finial on the handles and 7 1/4" from handle to handle. Together they weigh 1 lb 8.4 oz. Both are in very good antique condition considering they have an age range of 179(1835) years old to 94(1920) years old. There is a tiny indentation in the front of the creamer that is small enough that really ... moremust look and feel for it. The handle at the top has also came loose from the main body of the creamer and could be soldered back. Both pieces would need to be clean and polished. Still really beautiful collectible pieces. Offering this wonderful silver plated over Britannia metal Lidded Sugar Bowl made in England by James Dixon& Sons. Lots of markings on the bottom. Some of which I could not find out what they were. I do know that Britannia metal is a mixture of tin. Antimony and copper, mostly tin, and is a close relative of pewter. This sugar bowl is in very good condition. No dents or other damage and has a wonderful sheen both in and outside. Great for a collection or just to use. It is beautiful. From an estate.
