LARGE ANTIQUE GERMAN IMMIGRANT DOME TOP STEAMER TRUNK EARLY 1800'S
For sale is a huge 1800's immigrant steamer trunk. Best guess is German or Swiss. Has a man's name on the top, AUGUST GEUNERT. NEW YORK. I bought it in Pa. At an antique store. They said it belonged to a Doctor. In Philadelphia.They bought this and several Hepple White pieces. From his estate. It is massive. 45 inches wide,22 deep, and 25 1/2 inches tall. And weighs about 75 pounds. Has a some issues with the wood. Please see photo's. Most are the 1/4 inch trim that surrounds. The lid base. A very easy fix for a carpenter. All the straps are present and in great shape with only the hinge. Front pieces altered. The lock plate is 6 3/4 by 4 inches in great. Condition.I do not have the key. This lock was way ahead of it's time. There is one like this on ebay now for $167.Even they have value. I can find no markings but all metal ... morewas hand forged and smithed. No screws. Early Maine Painted Heppelwhite Chest
Wonderful Maine chest in original red paint. Found in a coastal Maine home. This rare country chest has the best form, 36" wide, 40" tall, 17.5" deep. The cutout base has a 7" lift and looks to be original height. The beautiful red paint is first coat and there is a coat of old varnish that was probably put on in the late 1800's. I would date this chest to 1850. The hardware appears to be original. Please see photos. The drawers are beautifully dovetailed and the drawer bottoms are original. It even has the original key! it has a 2 board back. A great piece of folk art in its purest condition. There are minor scratched and a small chip in the foot and a old square nail repair but absolutely nothing to detract from the rare chest! please see photos. This is an Antique ca.1875 stagecoach Ladies Hat trunk. Sometimes called a half trunk. It is solid pine with hardwood slats. The heavy duty brass hasp and lock plate are original. It is 18.75"x 16.5"x 19"tall and weighs 18 lbs. The leather handles have been replaced. The interior has been cleaned, sanded and finished. There are rollers on the bottom. WOW! I mean W.O.W. FRESH from an incredible estate this past weekend. This OLD(avid collectors) estate was packed with EARLY AMERICAN items-furniture. Boxes, chests, maps, ect. I snatched this baby up! This early Pennsylvania chest is gorgeous-all hand made-dovetailed construction with square nails. BEAUTIFUL original paint! Signed several times in several places on the bottom-I can only make one out for sure-Amanda Batz. If you google her, you will find right away an Amanda Batz who was born in Pennsylvania on May 1st, 1836. I don't know if this was passed down to her or painted by her? There are other names and possibly dates which, with a little more time and effort, could probably be made out and someone could probably figure out when and for whom and possibly by whom this was made. RARE Antique Wicker & Wrought Iron Steamer Trunk / Auto or Carriage Strong Box
For your consideration is a Stunning Antique Wicker& Wrought Iron Strong Box or Steamer Trunk! It is an amazing piece. Very unusual and I actually can't find another one that's even close to as strong as this one. Would make a wonderful coffee table or storage chest, a great conversation piece! It measures 19" tall and 19 1/2" by 26" wide. It is exactly as shown in the pictures. Some damage to the handles from use no doubt, and overall could just use a cleaning and oiling to get some moisture back into the wicker. Some minor surface oxidation to the iron, easily cleaned if you want. Super solid! Pickup can be done in Putnam. Old Victorian Small Steamer Dome Trunk Signed on Buckles Pat. Mar. 1888 History as Follows: Gorgeous unique piece measuring 2 feet wide by 13 inches-deep-13 inches high. Used for travel. Original dome shape steamer trunk history as follows: Made in 1888 and later in the deco period it was painted restored as shown in photos. Very unique with handpainting outside to match the inner lining of calico red which may have been already in there from the Victorian era as they lined the bottom with Newspaper from the later fashion days. The red paint was painted over the slight marks on top that was used during the 1800's so it is determined the painting décor and bottom was done around the 1920's. Original beautiful hardware buckles signed PAT: MAR.1888. Shiny excellent gold in great condition. Closes with original closure just has middle ... moremissing but has been like that almost 100 years as you can see. Side handles excellent with wheels on bottom. A Wonderful Antique Stage Coach Trunk. The trunk is hand made of wood looks to be in original condition. Some small pieces or parts may be missing, it has wheels on the bottom part of one is missing, still for a trunk of this age it is very nice. The straps buttons are brass. Removable Tray For Antique Camel Back Trunk ~ Restoration
Here is a rare find. this is the tray from an antique trunk. The measurements are approx. 34 5/8" in l e ngth. 19 9/16" width at the bottom. 19" width at the top and approx.4 5/8" deep. As you can see in the photo's the top is warped, and one of the leather straps is broken. There are some water stains as well. Selling as is, as you see it. This is a great beginning for restoration. So many antique trunks are missing this tray.

Clasp hinges lock in place, keys not included. 4 metal plated rollers on bottom may have had wood around them. Top insert with compartment measures 12 3/4" W x 5 1/4" Deep. Name identification marked on front is slightly visible, assumably owner of trunk. Number marked on bottom in red barely legible, possibly for traveling purposes. Antique Steamer Trunk Pressed Tin Curved Hardwood Slats w/ Original Tray + Keys
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique steamer trunk with a domed lid. The original tray and two keys. The top of the trunk has beautiful curved hardwood slats held in place with brass tacks. It has two leather handles that are in very good condition, brass plated hardware and pretty medallion trim. The trunk has a plain black metal covering with embossed tin(acorn pattern) on the top, down the front and partially down the sides and back. The latches on either side of the lock read' PAT-JUL 97' and the lock is marked' LONG LOCK CO. The trunk comes with its original tray with a pretty cover on one side and the entire inside, including the tray, is lined with an attractive patterned paper. The bottom is also metal covered and has two plain hardwood slats running the length on each side. There are three small metal wheels near ... moreeach corner(one is missing) that make the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. There is some surface rust here and there but nothing serious and no rust through(no holes) It measures approximately 32" long X 23" high at the highest point near the center X 18" wide. The two keys do not appear to be original to this trunk but they work perfectly, the previous owner's family probably had to find a locksmith to open it because once it's closed it's automatically locked, the keys will be placed in an envelope and taped to the outside so you can get it open when it arrives.

Chest came from a 71 year old women. It belonged to her Grandmother from when she came from Italy to the United States. Wood is wrapped with what looks like tin. Light green color with silver. Early 19th Century Small Blanket Chest with Petalesharo Engraving card on inside lid. Lots of character. Strap hinges. Lock& side rope handles are not there. New ropes can be installed before shipping. Key hole worn completely through. Great dovetail joints in excellent condition. Has compartment inside. Very sturdy and looks great. One expert puts the date range from 1800-1820`s. Whether the engraving print was attached when the chest was made is not known. The engraving print inside lid is missing an area on the left side. The engraving is by Peter Maverick(Maverick family engravers of New York) of a sketch in oil by John Neagle. The engraving was done approx. 1826-1818 of the Neagle painting that was done in 1821 at the time Petalesharo and other Pawnee Indians came to Washington D.C. The engraving was a book plate for the painting. ... moreThere is a photo of the engraving provided in the last photo. Petalesharo was responsible for stopping his tribe from using ceremonial human sacrifices in 1817. There was a great wave of sentiment on the East Coast which resulted in several paintings. One of which hangs in the White House Library. Petalesharo was presented with a silver medal from a female seminary in Washington D.C. A poem was published in a New York newspaper about him. The blanket chest is a fine example of American craftsmanship and sentiment for the Pawnee Indian tribes of North America. This item is for sale locally as well as on Sunday Historical. Antique brass bound wooden trunk/ chest- project? May I state at the beginning that collection is welcome. But I know a"man with a van" who will deliver for 30p per mile round trip within a 100 mile radius, calculated by Google, postcode to postcode from NN7 2HL. Please e-mail me for further info. I couldn't work out how to put all this into the e-bay postage bit- so please ignore the £1.00 delivery! This was bought on e-bay about five years ago- as a gift for my son- who is now into Danish teak and has asked me to sell it for him. Think it was originally a brass bound cedar? household chest. That had a shaped pedestal fitted around the turn of the century along with extra brass hasp and staples for padlocks. It was probably purchased overseas, and when the owner decided to return to the UK, he made it extra secure for ... morethe voyage. It has a large initialled plaque on the lid(R.B. and a nice brass shield shaped escutcheon plate- but no key- also has big solid iron carry handles. The lid has internal locking hinges so you can rummage in safety. Measurements are 2' wide x 15" front to back x 14" high overall. It is in reasonably good condition- wood. Hinges etc are all sound- and looks great. Think the person who sold it me had a half hearted go at restoring it- so could probably benefit from being rubbed down and a bit elbow grease. HERE IS AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE. ANTIQUE METAL COVERED ANTIQUE AUTO CAR TRUNK BOX. Dimensions are 20' INCHES TALL X 18" DEEP X 35" INCHES WIDE. Not sure who it's manufactured by. We believe it is the original brown paint that has minor scuffs and scratches. There is no rusting through. Trunk is still very sound and sturdy and all sides are straight and not excessively dented. Hinges are good and the lid opens and close tight and square as it should. It is used and has wear, surface marks, scrapes and bruises from all those many years of gentle use. the interior and natural back board and inside the lid has been restored natural. 1800-1900 STEAMER TRUNK UNKNOWN MAKER RUSTIC AND WAITING FOR YOUR TOUCH An untouched. Original, rustic steamer trunk waiting for a refurbishing or your artistic touch. The trunk is 31 inches long 19 inches wide and 21 inches tall. This trunk was found at an Estate sale and has been in storage for years. Yes that is rust you are seeing. Trunk is made of a thin tin metal sheeting with wood slat boards across the trunk. The lock appears original along with all of the hinges. None are missing. The feet are all intact. Not loose. I took a picture of the bottom which is also intact with no holes. The inside of the trunk is wood with a paper lining cover. Unfortunately it is missing the shelves but has one shelf holder. As you can see it has some defects. The leather handles are missing. Trunk lid opens and the lock closes, but has no key. Occasional ... morepaint smears.
