It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. The Chest measures approx. 15 1/2 inches long. 8 inches wide(deep) and about 10 inches tall. It has a brass carry handle on the top, as well as several beautiful brass decoration pieces. All the Drawers are lined with a fabric much like a corduroy material, that was likely added by someone along the way. It needs some cleaning and is coming up in a couple of spots, but otherwise seems to be ok. The exterior finish on the wood also has some age wear, but looks fine just as it is. The contents came with the box and are included, but there is nothing in it of any value. Mostly left over writing items. It is a handsome vintage piece, well made and still tight with no repairs. Measuring 30ins(76cms) wide x 17ins(43cms) deep x 10.5ins(27cms) high, it is a traditional steamer type trunk having protective bands on the edges and corners and twin catches at the front with a central lock and clasp and a leather carrying handle. It is finished in a blue colour with an attractive patina to it. The catches work well but there is no key for the central lock. I nternally it has the original lining material and a lift out shirt tray. It is in good general condition but has a few signs of use as one might imagine. With scuffs, nicks, scratches and so on and one corner has had a thump at some point in the past. The lining is pretty clean ... moreand dry with minor stains and it has lifted from the edges at a couple of points, but nothing serious. please see photos) This is a beautiful old travelling chest which stands with real presence- the perfect combined storage chest and coffee table! Antique Vintage Wooden Travel Luggage Chest Stagecoach 1840-1870s Saratoga Dome
This is an original un-restored travel chest/ stagecoach luggage from around the 1830-1870s time frame. I am not sure of the exact age but it is very old. It has been stored the best way possible for the last 65 years and possibly longer. This was in my grandparents house which was built in 1897. My mom said the last time she remembered it was when she was about 10(1950s) My mom said she remembered her grandmother talking about it belonging to her mother(my mom's great grandmother) So this belonged to my great great grandmother. I am almost 40 years old and my grandmother passed away about 8 years ago at 95 years of age. Dimensions are 32" Wide. 18" Deep and 22" Tall at center of top, 20" at edges of top. From the research I have done. This is a S aratoga Steamer Trunk. The chest is wooden and dome shaped on the top. ... moreIt is fairly large and will be expensive to ship based off it's size and needing to be protected. The rope handles are decayed mostly and it does show it's age. It was stored carefully inside since the 1950s and wasn't even touched for at least 60 years. I have had the chest for about 3 years and have stored it carefully as well. I took it out for the pictures and sat it on top of some boxes in the garage for the pictures. There are metal corners and buckles some of which have some rust. The wood has a split on the top and it is very dirty. The interior is all original as well. It seems to be in ok shape for the fact it is 150-185 years old. There is some age damage to the pictures inside and the fabric as well as the outside of this chest. It was used back then and it does show that. Please do not expect a nice restored chest. This is untouched and has not see the light of day in at least 60 years and not used for at least 100 years. Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. Measuring 36ins(92cms) wide x 20ins(51cms) deep x 14ins(35cms) high, it is a traditional steamer type trunk having protective bands on the edges and corners and twin catches at the front, with a central lock and clasp, and a carrying handle at either end. It is finished in a blue colour with an attractive patina to it. The catches work well and there is the original key for the central lock. I nternally it has the original lining paper and is very clean and dry. It has the name RUTHVEN. In black, on the top. It is in good condition and has few signs of use as one might imagine. This is one of the most unusual and attractive antique steamer trunks I have found. Unusual design reinforced with multiple wood slats and copper detailing throughout. I acquired this particular trunk about 15 years ago and used it for awhile as an accent table with a glass top in my design studio. Although I am on the constant hunt for vintage trunks, this is one of the most unusual I have ever found and have held on to it for years awaiting another purpose. All wood construction with a multitude of wood slat reinforcements and copper straping with riveted joints throughout. Much of the original hardware. Including hinges, is intact but the front lock/latch ... moreand one side handle is missing. The interior is clean with remanants of an old paper lining that has been pealed away to reveal that the wood used in the making of the trunk was most likely recycled from antique wood crating. With one area showing an original stamp for the"American rubber company" I was surprised to see this and since this trunk is at least 100 years old, I think it is such an unusual and charming detail The trunk has probably had a coat of protective finish added to the exterior at some point and the wood has developed an aged and rich patina. There is a burn mark(see photo) on the left side. Indicating at some point in its history this trunk even endured some sort of fire, but is clean and undamaged otherwise. This trunk looks fantastic as is- I used it with a custom cut(very inexpensive) glass top for use as a coffee table. Either way. An absolutely stunning and historical addition to your design scheme! very nice antique carriage travel trunk chest brass tacks 1827
Selling this old travel trunk/chest that I have refinished. The trunk is covered with old brass tacks. The top has a design that resembles a football along with the letters I.W. Prior to refurbishing the chest was covered in deerhide and the brass tacks shown. The interior had newspaper dated 1827. Prior to staining the wood had an almost white color to it. As a result. The Early American Minwax stain looks great on it. The trunk was treated with three coats of polyuerothane. The handles are original as is the lock. There is no key. I add the stays to the trunk. Antique Wood Leather Travel Chest / Trunk c. Late 1700's
Up for auction is an Antique Vintage Wood Leather Traveling Chest circa late 1700’s. The chest is made out of wood. Was once covered in cow hide(most of which has worn off) and has leather hinges. It measures 17.5 inches long x 10 inches wide x 7.5 inches high and has a metal clasp/ lock(with no key) The top part of the lock is no longer attached to the lid. The handle on the top is also missing. The inside of the chest is lined with newspaper which has a date of Tuesday. April 1, 1794 from the Catskill Packet. The chest was purchased from an estate sale and I have no further information or back ground on it. Shipping includes insurance.

The previous owner of this trunk would have been 105 this year) It is a really cool looking trunk with the 5 drawers. The old hangars, the briefcase like drawer that slides in under the clothes, and what looks to be an ironing board that has paper covering it(we did not take it out- we left it undisturbed) We do not have keys, the big lock on the front was popped but looks to be okay. ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VINTAGE VICTORIAN STORAGE TRAVEL CHEST RESTORED REFINISHED
Up for sale is this beautiful restored large antique victorian roll top steamer trunk with key. It measures 35" long by 22 1/4" wide and 25" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room.
