Antique Blue Steamer Trunk - Wooden Frame with Metal Corners & Braces
This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. Vintage Antique Wooden Hump Back Steamer Trunk
This item is a vintage antique woodden hump back steamer trunk. It measures 32"x 16" x 18.5" It is in very good shape. The outside is all original. It still has the original wooden handles. There are a couple of cracks in the top. But they do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a mint green floral pattern. The lining has quilt batting covered with the material. The shipping for this trunk is $125.00 due to the oversized box and fuel surcharge. Thanks for looking. Antique Wooden Painted Nautical Sailors Fishing Chest Trunk Box 1800's Steamer
This is an AMAZING antique fishing chest. I think it's late 1800's maybe really early 1900's. when I purchased it there was a bunch of old salt water fishing hooks and a sting ray barb& other cool stuff in it! One of the almost completely deteriorated paper boxes of hooks read 1910 on it, so I know it's at least that old. There are awesome adjustable wooden cubby compartments on the inside& spots to put a rod on the inside upper lid. In the pictures I left some of the fishing stuff in there. But its cleaned out now. There are some amazing graphics on this chest. On the top of the chest is a nautical compass reading north east south and west, on the front under the latch(which is fully functional) are the initials F.D.JR. On the right side of the chest are three flags I'm not sure if these three flags identify the ... morearea in which it was made? maybe someone with nautical knowledge will know for sure. And on the left is an anchor with rope twisting around it. Im pretty sure these are all hand painted. Or super old decals. But I'm pretty sure there hand painted. The chest appears to have a sealant on the outside. Which I'm sure they would have done to help protect it from salt water. There are no major cracks in this chest. I have put no chemicals on it to clean it. Just a damp rag. Now a couple down sides to this beauty: the back hinges have rusted and broken.see pics) and on the sides it looks like there were a couple ropes screwed in to keep it on board? That are gone. And a few cracks on the bottom. The chest measures 22" long X 10 1/2" wide. And sits 8" tall. If there are any questions please feel free to ask& I will answer them best I can. This item is a very nice rare vintage wooden flattop steamer half trunk. It measures 24" x 18" x 20. Trunk companies made these small trunks as samples to display the workmanship and the hardware that could be used on the larger trunks. These are very rare. We have been restoring trunks for 17 years and this is only the 4th one we have seen. It does have some small cracks on the top. It has the new leather handles. The latches are in good working order which close securely. It has very heavy hardware with 3 hinges across the back. This is a old metal vintage steamer trunk that opens from the side. Not sure about the age. It's in pretty good condition for its age. The top is wooden. There is some small damage on top that could be replaced or leave it as is. The inside is great. The lock is a little bent. I'm pretty sure you can straighten it out. OLD antique Steamer Trunk Wooden Trim luggage suitcase HAMBURG AMERICAN LINES
You are bidding to purchase an amazing primitive antique steamer trunk that is unmarked. But reminds me of the Louis Vuitton ones. And covered with a textured substance that reminds me of leather. But I’m not sure that’s what it is. I appreciate any information you can provide about this well-traveled piece of history. It is wooden and has rounded corners and measures approximately 33 x 21 x 13 inches and has leather strap handles on the ends for easy carrying. One end of the strap is secured to the trunk and the other end will slide back and forth to a metal stop so that the leather handle will lay flat when not in use and pulls out for a comfortable grip when moving it. This case features a rounded wooden trim with metal(possibly brass) guards on the corners. It has 3 metal hinges to hold the lid in place and a metal trim band around the ... morelid and along the front side corners. There are several labels or stickers on this case. Some of them read: On the right end: HAMBURG-AMEWRIKA LINIE D. DEUTSCHLAND(I believe this is the Hamburg-American lines) Another one also reads HAMBURG AMERIKA LINIE A third one on that end is worn but is also from Hamburg America Line(per the logo) A forth one on that end says OBERSEE-GEPACK-NR. With a number that looks like it may be 23803 followed by S. DEUTSCHLAND HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE(THE LAST LINE HAS BEEN WORN AND IS MOSTLY ILLEGIBLE) The white label on the other end has a number 9. And the text is illegible but looks like it might also say Hamburg. The label on the lid is the amazing oval paper orange label that has a steam boat on the upper portion of the label. Just above the logo HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE and at the bottom of the white square it says NEW YORK and has a place for name, vessel and date. The outer area has text and says PRINTED IN GERMANY. The name written in ink is faint and I cannot determine the name– it looks like ANN… and the last name looks like it starts with an H. I cannot tell the name of the vessel or the date. Vintage wood bound steamer trunk. There are no identifying marks on the hardware or trunk other than the number 75 below the keyhole on the latch. I believe this trunk was made in the UK as the estate I acquired it from had many vintage items from Europe. However that is not for certain. I am not a collector and know very little about old trunks. So I have taken pictures from every angle so you can see the entire trunk. Please note the third picture, upper left hand corner, a small piece of material is missing. Also note the last picture.the wood banding was broke and repaired at some point in time. This is a wonderful antique streamer truck/chest for doll's clothes. A toy most girls had to have at the turn of the 20th century. I'm not sure how old the trunk is. It is made of thin metal over wood and the metal reacts to a magnet. The trunk has a center key lock(non working) and 2 metal clasp brass colored steel(magnetic) All 4 corners have the same brass colored metal with tacks. There is a black metal band along the center edge with grommets or tacks. A leather strap embossed with the number 22 allows for easy carrying by an adult as the trunk weighs 16 pounds when empty. The handle is sturdy but has light surface cracks. In its upright position. The trunk opens to a wooden interior with 3 stacked drawers and a side for hanging the clothes. Antique REFINISHED Flat Top Steamer Travel Trunk Wooden Chest Original Hardware
Refinished antique wooden steamer trunk circa late 1890’s. Early 1900’s with original hardware. This has a wonderful flat top surface, perfect use for a table or at the bottom of a bed. Plus it is nice and roomy, excellent for extra storage. The inside has been stripped of the original paper. Brass colored hardware and front lock, no key. Original handles in tact, which is rare as most broke off over time. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. There is a stress crack on the top, normal for antiques trunks as they were packed and then stacked for traveling. The bottom shows some ... morewear. IT HAS WOODEN BANDS C=GOING AROUND IT WITH BRASS LIKE CORNERS AND FEATURES. THERE ARE TWO CATCHES AT EITHER SIDE AND THEN ONE IN THE MIDDLE THAT IS MORE OF A CLIP. THERE ARE TWO BLACK LEATHER HANDLES AT EACH END. EXTERNALLY CONDITION IS GOOD IT HAS BEEN VARNISHED TO PROTECT IT AND GIVE IT A BIT MORE COLOUR. THE CATCHES ARE A BIT TARNISHED AND ARE NOT SOLID BRASS. INSIDE IS VERY CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SMALL TEARS BUT NOTHING MAJOR. Antique Miniature Wooden Doll Steamer Trunk
For your consideration is an Antique Miniature Wooden Doll Steamer Trunk. The toy trunk is made of wood. Covered with cloth/paper, and has a metal edges and partial top. The inside bottom portion is covered with a patterned paper. There is also a wooden removable divided tray, and metal lockable latch. no key) It is in nice condition with normal signs of age, and use with scuffs, scratches, tarnish on the metal, and finish loss. The trunk is also missing its leather side handles. It measures approx. 14 1/2 wide, 10" tall, and 8 5/8" deep. A nice collectible piece for any collection. Does have some scrapes and what I think is paint(maybe nail polish) droplets on the outside. Inside is a clothes rod and 9 hangers and on the bottom are two drawers to stash socks. Hair accessories, etc. On the other side any 18" doll can fit when idle. Measures approximately 10 x 10.5 x 20(T) when closed and 5.5 x 20.25 x 20(T) when opened fully. It has metal side skin in green& black paint and wooden strapping. The wood has a nice aged patina. It measures 18 by 11 3/4 by 11 inches. Overall. It is in good solid condition with chipping of the black paint, missing leather handles, and a missing key to the original lock.
