Vintage Wood Fishing Tackle Box w/ Brass Corners & Hardware, divided tray insert
Up for auction is a vintage fishing tackle box with divided tray and brass hardware and corners. Likely made by a craftsman or in a shop. Rather than factory made. The case weighs a bit over 7 pounds, and measures 13 7/8" long, 7 5/8" high, and 8 7/8" front to back, approximately. The hinges, handle, corners and latches are brass, as are the small wood screws. The handle appears to have been a later replacement, maybe heavier duty, with steel screws. Some aging and patina to the metal. The wood appears to be possibly fir plywood, a common material in this area(Pacific Northwest) The tray has eight compartments, with six dividers made of thin masonite. The tray is 2" deep, and each divided area is approximately 2 7/8" x 3 1/2" Since these dividers can be easily removed, you can reconfigure the tray to fit special ... morefishing plugs and lures. Outside of box shows some normal dents and wear, with more wear understandably on the bottom as well as a narrow crack in the bottom side of the plywood, not carried through to the opposite side of the inside. Similar crack on the inside of the top/lid, which is not carried through to the outside(top) of the lid. This is a great piece to use, or to use for display! Please check all 12 photos and contact me if you have questions. Shipped at cost to US locations only, Parcel Post or Priority Mail, with shipping weight between nine and ten pounds. Thanks for looking, and ask if you have any questions.

18th Century Williamsburg Virginia Chippendale Chest of Drawers"John Selden" Search Ok. We do not have the credentials to fully attribute this beautiful chippendale mahogany(maybe walnut) chest of drawers with pine secondary woods to John Selden from Norfolk, VA. Our Williamsburg/John Selden attribution comes from viewing similar chests on the internet. This piece was purchased from a Norfolk, VA. estate. Please view the link provided for more information. And, you can use google to find similar pieces attributed to John Selden for sale at a gallery in PA for over $30K. To find the one at the PA gallery.you'll need to type"John Seldon chest of drawers"the spelling is wrong at that site. This link shows the bottom of the clothes press and the similarities in our chest. Mostly original. The finish was probably done sometime ... moreago. The bail handle pulls appear to be original with the exception of the one replaced rosette. The pull on top drawer left side looks to have been moved a fraction of an inch. Also. It's identical to the other pulls but it looks a little smaller than the others, so it might be a replacement. Full dustboards(we realize full dustboards is more of an English feature but if you research this link you'll find that John Selden used full dustboards as well) and they are undoubtly a Virginia feature, Norfolk, Petersburg, Williamsburg. Another site that actually shows a chest that was on display at the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg. It shows the full dustboards as well. http:gatesantiques.com/archives/1266 In the below link you can find information about John Selden being commissioned to refurnish the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg. http:www.archive.org/stream/journalofearlyso1811992muse/journalofearlyso1811992muse_djvu.txt Beautiful handmade square head and rose head nails throughout the chest. 18th C. Antique Chest, Vibrant 19th C. Grain Paint, Orig. Hardware, Unrestored
This is an 18th C. chest that was intricately grain painted in the early to mid 19th C. The grain painted hardware. And almost all of the fasteners, appear to be original to the chest. The chest is 47"W, 23.5"D, 17"H(not counting the casters) and perhaps 100 lbs. The chest is functional and extremely solid with grain painted metal corners and edges. However, it is ~230+ years old and there are condition issues. The right hinge has been repaired with a modern bolt. Also, there is a ~2" area of the left rear top that has been weakened by the open till door and potential water exposure. Surprisingly, there is very little movement, or play, in the hinges. The original feet are missing and very old casters are in their place. There are areas of missing paint, particularly the left top. Please see the pictures, and request others ... moreif you would like to see more detail. If desired, each of these condition issues(including the missing paint) could be resolved by a skilled furniture restorer. Others may enjoy the chest as it is. Either way, I very rarely see such old chests with such vibrant grain painting. Please do not hesitate to contact me for questions. More pictures, and or to schedule an appointment. American Queen Anne Oak Chest of Drawers Circa 1720 Description: An early 18th century American Queen Anne oak chest of drawers. Circa 1720. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers ... moreover four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. The case rests over four bracket feet, one rebuilt,
American Pennsylvania Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers c1779
American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. These are incredibly useful in any colonial setting, at the foot of the bed as originally prescribed, between two arm chairs

This chest has a leather around the sides. Back and top. the front is wood with painting and gilt. When the chest is opened, it reveals a wonderful painted design throughout the interior. There are 3 drawers: 2 small and one long drawer. The chest retains ... moreit's original hardware. It measures 24" long x 12 1/4" wide x 13" tall. 17th/18th Century Oak Coffer with Inlaid Top. Rare. About as Rustic as Possible!
Description Antique Oak Coffer. Two dates here, the lower section is very early probably about c1670, the lid is a bit later, probably c1720. This is such an amazing piece. It's the most rustic thing I have ever owned, the timbers look ancient, they are grizzled and worn, rough cut in places(the back looks like it was roughly hacked off a tree) and just looks wonderful, if only it cold talk, it must have seen so much interesting history in it's 340 odd years! The top is a little later. And very unusually has satinwood and ebony triangular inlays, this is very very rare, these things are always just plain oak or some light carving(like this one has on the front) but very rarely do they have inlays. The inlays are fairly provincial looking and definately hand applied and cut, they again are just great to behold! If you love it. Grab ... moreit quick, I think it'll be a long time before you see one similar, if ever! Dimensions: 120 wide. 62 high and 50 deep. All in cm. 17th century Spanish Colonial Tooled Leather Coffer Trunk Chest
This stunning 17th century tooled leather Spanish Colonial coffer retains its original hardware and patterned linen lining. The mark of an old cattle brand is clearly visible in the leather on the back of the trunk. it would be great to find a way to trace this brand to the hacienda from which the herd came. The carved claw feet belong to the trunk but are two separate pieces, and serve to keep the trunk up off the floor. While very old, they may have been made for the chest sometime after its completion. Many of the hand forged nails remain but some are missing. The leather is missing in the upper right front corner of the trunk. As can be seen in the first photo, above. Piece is very sturdy and condition overall is excellent. No odors. Dimensions are 34"x 15" x 19" without feet. As with all of my auctions. Rare Original Pair Early 16th Century English Carved Oak Romayne Panels c1520
Rare Original Pair Early 16th Century English Carved Oak Romayne Panels c1520. An exceptionally rare pair of early 16th century English carved oak panels featuring male and female portraits. With wonderful mythical beasts above. There are some small losses to the back of the head of the female portrait, and some black card has been backed with paper and placed over the loss(see images below) The rest of the panel is very sturdy/stable and in good condition, The male portrait panel is quite exceptional and in very fine condition with no damage or losses. Both panels are in untouched condition and have not been waxed, they would indeed glow if polished but I feel they are so beautiful in the present untouched state. Both carvings are very vibrant and expressive, in particular the faces on the beasts above are typically medieval. Each panel ... moremeasures 14 1/4" high x 9 1/4" wide.
Dated 1794 Massachusetts Leather Covered Trunk
Here we have an early leather covered dome top trunk with the June and July issues of the Massachusetts Magazine lining the inside of it. It measures 26 1/2" X 13 1/2" and 12" tall. It looks to be all original except for perhaps the two hinges. I`m not sure if they are or not, use the pictures to decide and if you have any questions don`t be afraid to ask me. The handles still have the snipe style mounts, and it looks like it might be pine wood under the leather. The leather does have some ragged areas around the edges and where the hinges are, the pictures describe it better than I can in words. The hinges are secure and not stiff or binding. A great looking 1790`s trunk! I`ll ship it but I do prefer if it could be picked up here in Wilbraham, MA 01095, I`m not far from Brimfield, MA if you are planning on attending.

Late Georgian Mahogany Instrument / Paint Box with Brass Handle for Restoration
Late Georgian Mahogany Instrument/ Paint Box with Brass Handle for Restoration This is a very battered late Georgian mahogany box. I'd date it to between about 1820 and 1840- probably originall was fitted for instruments of some sort or artists materials- there is a scrap of a trade label pasted inside the lid. It has a good brass carrying handle, hinges and lock but no key. The box is of dovetailed construction, in solid mahogany, with a pine base. It is in poor condition, though quite solid and can be used as it is- I'd be tempted just to give it a coat of beeswax to bring up a shine and leave it well alone- it bears the scars of 200 years use, after all. But very well worth restoring if you are so inclined. Size: about 15 3/4 x 8 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches( 21.5 x 18 x 12.5 cm) Weight: 1414 grammes Condition: Sold for restoration: mouldings ... moremissing round the base and front of lid( replaced in the past with odd gessoed and gilt strips of pine! escutcheon missing. various small holes drilled in the lid and ends- no idea why. Though they were obviously for some purpose not done by accident. Shipping to mainland UK is £8- For ANY other locations- Channel Isles. A wonderful old pair of folding casket stands with an eerie Art Nouveau portrait of a lovely young woman with flowing hair. These have been nicely restored and polished. They appear to have been silver plated, only traces remain. About 13lbs each and 22” tall, they would make a spectacular coffee table with the right piece of glass. Very good condition. One stand has lost it’s brass pull, it still functions well and sits square in the detents. Please ask any questions prior to entering a bid. I will combine multiple purchases to save on shipping. 1753 Hand Carved Wood Box with Initials "E.D." and "1753"
Item: 1753 Hand Carved Wood Box with initials“E.D.and"1753" Purchase Date: 1988. Box size: 5”h x 10”w(box; with lid it is 11” and with base it is 1- 3/8” x 6”d(box; with lid it is 6 ¼” and with base it is 6” About the work: This item is a hand carved wood box with the initials“E.D. and the year“1753” carved on the front face of the box. I do not know what kind of wood this is. The top has a split; I don’t know if that was intentional or not. The top pieces are on two pieces that form the underside of each side of the lid. The lid does not sit squarely on the box; there is about 1/8” gap of the top of the main box part exposed. The top is“hinged” with two nails on either side. There is a small chip out of the lid on the bottom right(see picture) The face has the initials“E.D. and“1753” carved on it. In addition there are two ... moreadditional carved tulips and two flowers/pedals as well as 2 decorative scrolls on the top next to the initials. The“1753” extends out of base that perhaps is supposed to be a branch of some kind since the flowers and tulips extend out of the“1” and“3” see picture) It looks like there is some wear/erosion on the bottom front left at the box’s base. The sides are smooth wood(no carvings) The bottom has felt triangles on the corners and a small sticker with numbers. It looks like the bottom part has some wear/erosion on the bottom back left. Antique Italian Cassone Wedding Chest from 15th - 18th century
This is an Italian cassone. Also known as an Italian Wedding Chest. Age: somewhere between the 15th and 18th century? Material: apparently this is walnut. It was acquired by George Grey Barnard, famous for collecting medieval artifacts. He acquired it in Italy near the turn of 1900 while he was collecting the original medieval artifacts that made up the first Cloisters Museum. That collection was later sold to the NY Metropolitan Museum and became the foundation of what is now the Cloisters at the Met. This chest was used in his house then later passed down through the family to us, his great grand children. It measures 58" long x 19" wide x 21" high. NOTE: Will deliver personally if within reasonable distance(perhaps within several hundred miles of the Boston area)
