As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. This particular trunk is a cushion-top model, and is also gibraltarized, patentened process in order to make the trunk frame very strong. This is all steel-frame construction. The trunk features a velvet cushioned top to protect clothing during travel. All original"unbreakable hangers" a garment bag for clothing worn, all hand riveted, and featered a patented locking mechanism that actually hooks so your trunk would never open in travel. From the hangers to the cloth lining, and cloth ties, this was made for an entire wardrobe to moved about without putting a wrinkle in any of your items. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. This is a steamer trunk made by the B.B. B. Trunk Co. This trunk is in great condition and includes the lingerie and jewelry box. The B.B. B. Co. was only under that name from 1890- 1906 and then the name was changed to The Buffalo Trunk Co. This trunk was one of the very first trunks made by the company and history will show that this was made in the first year they were open in 1890. The city of Pittsburgh has always been spelled with the"H" at the end except for the years 1890- 1911. In 1890 a law was passed to remove the"H" but then in 1911 the law was revoked. For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to the late 1800 to early 1900's. There are stickers on the truck. Which I did not remove. Germany and Scotland. Has a wonderful cloth pattern on the outside similar to L. Vitton trunks. Features 4 drawers and a wardrobe area to hang cloths. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips ... moreit has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. I know absolutely nothing about restoring a this gorgeous piece. I wish I did. I cannot answer much about it except the physical aspects. I was told by the individual that I got it from that it is from the 1800s. From my minimal research. That seems to be accurate and consistent. It comes with 5 hangers- only one is original- the others were made afterward- when and how old the others are. I don't know, but can tell you 4 of the 5 are not original. For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. Antique Green Gentleman's 1910 Wardrobe Steamer Trunk, Originated Kennett, Mo.
This is an antique gentleman's wardrobe steamer trunk. Circa 1910. The outer color is a very dark Forest Green. I found it in a Monrovia, California antique store about ten years ago- and it hs been stored ever since. I ws originally taken by the color. As a child we traveled with steamer trunks, but I have never seen one with an interior this shade of bright green. It is large and heavy. Measures 38 inches in height, 25 inches in width, and 22 inches in depth. It stands on end and is opened into two halves. The left side has a velvet cusion top with a fold out hanger design with the original 8 wooden hangers for the gentleman's suits, and trousers. There is a fabric"screen" that latches to hold the garments in place, but opens and swings out when access needed. There are four fabric shoe holders at the bottom that have ... morebrass snaps to secure the gentleman's shoes. The right side has three small drawers on top with five large drawers below them. The larger drawers have fabric belts used to secure the contents. There is a sort of hump on the top of the trunk to ensure that it is not stood upside down when in transit. The trunk has the owner's initials on the outside as well as his home town: T.E.L. Kennett, Mo. His name was actually Thomas Ely Lasswell. There are decals from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. as well as the original Railway label indicating Mr. Lasswell's address in Kennett. I have looked everywhere I can think of, but have not been able to find the manufacturer's name on the trunk. It looks like a Hartmann, but I'm not sure. The lock does indicate that it was made in 1910 by Eagle Lock Co in Terryville, Conn. I find this a really interesting trunk and a bit of Americana- a young man traveling from Missouri to California in the early part of the 20th century. This is an original steamer trunk that has been minimally restored to functioning condition. It has four drawers on one side of the interior and a closet to hang clothing on the other half. All four drawers have been restored. And lined with vintage magazine ad clippings to show the different eras. The wardrobe side is lined with world maps and also original newspaper clippings from the year 1942 showing classified ads for that era. The exterior has been stripped to the original wood then sanded and stained with varnish for a glossy finish. It is partially lined on the exterior with cowhide. A steamer trunk is a type of luggage which takes the shape of a large rugged trunk with a flat top. These trunks were built for long trips. Specifically on steam trains and boats; the flat top makes a steamer trunk easier to handle and stack. This antique Hartmann Tourobe is still in great condition. However. Like all original Tourobe's from the turn of the century, there are some scuff marks, scratches and such on the exterior. Look closely at the destination it traveled. It was sent from a teacher in Germany to an officer in Brooklyn New York. What a distance! Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. 6 total hangers, four for suits and two for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections divided by the hinges: 4 divided sections for folded clothing and miscellaneous items secured with adjustable fastening fabric straps. a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a cotton twill covered pad to protect the suits. which fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. 2 of the 3 buttons are functional. I did not want to replace the fastener as it would change the piece from it's original state. Found this trunk while clearing out an old house in Washington DC. I don't know anything about it so the information here represents my best guess based on information I could find on-line and by looking at the trunk. It has one side made up of 5 fabric covered drawers(one with a lock) and the opposite side for hanging clothes. It appears to be a wardrobe trunk made by Albert Rosenhain Berlin. There are a few markings on the outside of the trunk- a red stripe and some initials. It has metal tacks and hardware. One original hanger that bears a tag with the"Albert Rosenhain" name and a metal hanger(which may or may not be original) The interior cloth is army green. Covering the outside of the wardrobe section is an integral hanging garment bag with a zipper made from the same army green fabric. Antique HARTMANN Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Cushion Top No Reserve
You are bidding on an antique Hartmann brand wardrobe steamer trunk in amazing condition. It has almost all of its original accessories and hardware. Many hangers are included. Possibly more than originally equipped. Both the securing bar for the drawers and the securing bar for the clothes are present and original. It is very large measuring 40"x23"x25" It is also very heavy. This trunk has been in our family for so long that no one even remembers where it came from. Until recently, we could not open it because it was locked and we had no key. We had a key made for it and were amazed at how great it looked when we opened it up. There is no key for the securing bar for the drawers, but it is not seized and should work properly if a new key is made. It needs a new handle as it is missing. It should be a standard leather strap ... moretype for which reproductions are available and inexpensive. The only other thing I see that may be missing is a travel case that would lock into the hanger area. If you look at the drawers, you will see the Hartmann logo on the handles, and there is some of the original label left on the top. It has gold color interior with very nice trim. Some wear on the contact areas like the drawer slides, but overall, it looks hardly used. Based on its design, I would say that it is probably from the 1920s or 1930s. I was unable to confirm this, and base my guess on some old advertising I was researching. I welcome any information as to its time of manufacture. We have for sale a Vintage Antique Mendel Drucker Trunx Victorian Travel/Steamer Trunk Cincinnati No. 184293. This trunk is beautiful. It was purchased at an estate sale. It measures 41-1/2 inches in height or length. 22-1/2 by 22-1/2 inches in width and depth. It is totally original. It is a light beige colored tweed, with a dark brown leather trim throughout. Inside(left side) there are 4 drawers with beautiful pull handles. On the opposite side is set up for your clothing with wooden hangers. It has the original curtain, clothes bag, and another small compartment in the bottom closed off by another curtain. As you can see from the many photos that I took this trunk is in beautiful condition. There are some scratches and rubs but nothing is broken, or torn. All the hinges work great. DONNELLY ANTIQUES this hard to find dresser trunk does not have a makers name but it is still in nice condition. there are 3 drawers. 2 large and 1 small. and a compartment above them that long long has its cover that would have been held down by the to snaps on the leather straps. it has normal wear for a item of this vintage, solid shiny black bottom no rust with for caster wheels.the drawers are complete solid bottoms, lining is intact. all of the extertior locks work as designed snapping the trunk tight. the lock is broken but should be easy to replace. the trunk is 34" wide, 22" deep, 27" tall when closed.

This is an amazing early 1900s wardrobe steamer trunk. The exterior is black. And interior is a nice floral pattern. Fabric inside the drawers still has the wonderful blue and green shades in tact! Drawer fronts, ironing board, and hanging fabric have each faded to a pleasant neutral toned scheme. Comes complete with ironing board, iron holder at bottom with strap, adjustable bar to keep clothing in place, 3 drawers with original tie down ribbons in tact, bottom deep drawer with leather strap on one side, locking drawer bar with working lock and key, 8 various types of hangers, and a box for extra storage at the bottom of the hanging side of wardrobe. This wardrobe trunk is original. And has some scuffing on the outside and signs of wear on the inside. Hanging fabric is ripped at the top, as you can see in photos. This old wardrobe steamer trunk is from the 1920's era. It no doubt carried clothing. Documents, and treasures for fellows like Gatsby himself or a passenger on the Titanic. An original nail file was found tucked away in one of its drawers waiting to be found by generations later. The 8 drawers are linen lined. And I think the briefcase is as well. The top of the wardrobe area opens up to reveal a majestic deep purple velvet material. There is a lever behind the drawers that keeps the drawers from opening up during transportation. Here we have an incredible hunter green wardrobe trunk made by the Dread-Naught Luggage Company of Petersberg. Virginia around the 1930's. The interior has been completely recovered in a stunning ivory/ cream satin fabric. It has a locking mechanism for the drawers in addition to the exterior lock and the keys are included for both. The exterior has the wear and tear you would expect for its age and the leather handle is worn and torn as well, all of which add to its antique character. This Steamer Trunk is unbranded. And in excellent condition, approximately from the 1920s. This trunk is complete, including hangers, dirty clothes bag, all drawers, and the shoe holders. There is some wear on the inside and outside, as shown in the pictures. The drawers are coming apart a bit, but it would be an easy fix. The trunk measures 21.5 length x 14 width and 41 inches tall. Pic 2&3 measures: 19.5" wide x 8" top to bottom pic 4 spacer measures: 19.5" wide x 1.5" pic 5&6 measures: 19.5" wide x 8" top to bottom pic 7 measure 19.5" wide x 11" top to bottom Pic 8&9 shows one of the largest hanger(pic7) that has a little damage on each side That is the only hanger with any damage. 1930's Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk - Local Pickup
Charming old wardrobe trunk available to add to your collection of antiques! Since it is super heavy. Local Pickup only. What's so cool about this wardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds ... moreshoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. Hi. Up for sale i have an antique Wheary Burge Wardrobe Steamer type trunk from the early 1900's. Made in Racine Wisconsin by Wheary trunk company, sold in Kansas city by Luce luggage. This trunk is in very good condition for as old as it is, comes with original iron board, 10 wooden hangers, removable smaller case, black with brass accents, the felt on the flip top has some splits, the locks on the trunk are working, the keys for the outside of the trunk and for the bar that secures the drawers in place have been re-made by a locksmith. Trunk measures about 42" tall, 22" wide and 26" deep. I am selling this trunk for local pick up only, i live in the Kansas city area, if you would like to arrange shipping yourself, that is okay to just let me know where to drop it localy.
