Offered is this solid cast iron fancy steamer trunk lock and hasp rescued from a large dome top trunk. The center lock is an"Eagle" brand with a patent date of 1892. There is no key with this lock. But the lock mechanism turned freely using another key that I use for these locks. Well made and heavy duty, this lock and hasp have light surface rust only. Stunning vintage 1870's steamer trunk. Little different to the normal ones from this era. Quite a topic of conversation with visitors this one. The large impressive chest comes metal upright banding. Horizontal hard wooden banding held with large brass studs. Replacment top clamps added these were missing. Brass lock and Hasp. Shellac with Bri Wax polish finish. Two working side catches. Size is approx 37" long X 20" Wide X 27" high. Postage& Good packaging for this item comes in at £19.99 for most places or you are very welcome to collect. ANTIQUE VTG FLAT TOP STEAMER TRUNK - VICTORIAN PIRATE CHEST RESTORED REFINISHED
Up for sale is this beautiful refinished antique flat top steamer trunk/victorian pirate chest with tray. It measures 28 1/2" long by 18" wide and 11 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained then sealed with of spar urethane. The interior has been redone with a newer fabric liner at some point in this trunk's history- it has some wear and blemishes but overall it is in very good condition. This trunk is a great decor piece that is functional for storage, hope chest, files, etc. Ask if you have any questions and thank you for looking.

It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Arch Top Steamer Trunk Beautifully restored. 1800's trunk. Top is covered in a crocodile vinyl, new handles made of the same crocodile vinyl. Wood has a deep red mahogany finish, remainder of trunk is finished in deep browns, finished on the bottom also. Interior is covered in a deep brown felt. Nice sturdy piece. Doesn't look like it ever had latches, does have a lock, but no key. I have been told that a locksmith will be able to come up with a key, due to the primitive nature of the lock. It also never had wheels, like some do, and no interior trays. Has enough of a flat surface on top to hold a tray, so it could be used as a coffee or end table. Fancy Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key & Tray
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Fancy Hardware. Working Lock and Key, and Interior Divided Tray This is a really fancy dome top steamer trunk or hump back chest from the mid to late 1800's. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful camel back chest is made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. As usual. There are plenty of older distress marks on this trunk from many years of usage. These character marks do include older nicks and dings and some stress cracks in various places. Overall, the trunk is sturdy and you can sit on the top of this trunk without any problems in case you want to use it at the foot of the bed while changing your clothing. Here ... moreare the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This one definitely has a heck of a lot of fancy metal hardware. None of the metal on this trunk is brass, so we have therefore brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. If you have been waiting for a flashy, fancy dome top, then here it is. There are patent dates on some of the cap metal. It looks like March of 1880. We have shown a close up picture of one of these dates on this trunk. This gorgeous trunk comes with the original working lock. There appears to be a patent date on the key hole cover, although it is difficult to see the year. It does have April abbreviated. We did match up a key that works with this lock. The engagement prong on this lock has been pried open in the past, but it still engages with the upper part ok. The front latches work properly since the springs are intact. These nice front latches are off of a parts trunk which should date back to nearly the same time that this trunk was made. The Saratoga Trunk was a very large, domed top style with fancy trim, covered in either leather or metal. Early trunk catalogs and ads describe Saratoga trunks as a"large round top ... moreof the highest class" Round top trunks(also called humpback. Camelback. Monitor top, and barrel top) were made in a wide range of sizes and coverings. It is believed that the round tops were made for those who wanted to try to have their trunk packed on the top of baggage cars, so they would not be damaged. This trunk is in good condition. Victorian Silver Chest with working KEY Blanket box antique old trunk steamer
I nice Victorian Silver Chest. These were used in the victorian households to store the family silver and prevent the servants abscondoing with the valuable itmes. Would have been green compartment lined when first made. The richer you were. The more of these chests you had. Each would have a name plate plus the number of the chest. e.g. Earl John Smith 1 of 5 etc. It has large iron swing up type handles to each side. Working lock and key.bonus not many old chests still have a key. Also a hasp& loop has been added later in its long life for more locking options. Internal lid stay still working and present(holds the lid open) Some of the lower back metal no longer wraps underneath rusted away. Brass name plate to front looks blank. So you could have own family name engraved on this if you wanted. Fully treated for wooodworm a few weeks ... moreago as noticed a few holes on the very bottom so has been treated and repeated. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. Up for sale is this antique victorian dome top steamer trunk made by M. M. Secor- The Great Northwestern Trunk and Traveling Bag Manufactory. It measures 31" long by 19" wide and 23" tall(no key) The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was hand sanded then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The exterior has some character flaws from age. Missing handles and some missing trim but overall it is in good condition- very functional and solid. The interior of this trunk has been left in all original condition to keep some of it's history. The paper lining has some wear from age as pictured but overall it is in fair condition with no odor. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1800s DOME STEAMER TRUNK CHEST WOOD 4 ORIGINAL COMPARTMENTS
We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. My great grandfather, was the owner of this trunk, I don't know where he got it from, but he was very wealthy, and he owned, a huge mansion, up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, witch is very rare, as 99.9% of folks are poor up there, as there is nothing but trees, and water, he had left the estate to my grandfather, about 40 years ago my grandfather never went back to the estate, he let it become basically codemed or he let it go, and it became un-livable, when my grandfather died the estate went to me I didn't know about it so I went and checked out, and I found this trunk hidden between his closet, and a little trap door in what might have been my great grandfathers master bedroom. Antique Victorian Restored MONITOR or WATERFALL Style Steamer Trunk 19th Century
Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy. ANTIQUE DOLL STEAMER TRUNK VINTAGE VICTORIAN HAND CHEST TRAY 1880s
This trunk measures 15" long 9" wide and 9" tall.The outside of it is in very good condition.The inside will need a little work. A piece of wood that acts as a ledge for the tray is missing and the wood in the back of the trunk has a piece missing.Someone plastered the space and the plaster eventually fell out. Auto epoxy body filler would do the job to fill that void and a 1" x 1" strip of wood wood replace the ledge.

Up for auction is a vintage steamer truck/chest from a mansion in Scarsdale. New York. The family stated it was an ancestral trunk. It was wrapped in sheets in the attic. The outside looks good for its age. One of the leather handles is intact the other is broken but still on the trunk. The metal detailing throughout is stunning. The footing I’ve never seen. The latches say“patd 79” and the middle plate says. Patd May 54 and April 73. Hence, this is pre-1880. The inside is rough but it still has all the Victorian inserts! The inserts are in really tough shape, ripped, water damaged but it’s all there. The entire drawer/insert comes out. Size is approximately 32”X25”X14” It’s all original…I won’t even dust it. Up for consideration is a very nice restored victorian trunk. It has been cleaned well inside and out. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. The inside has been tastefully recovered. It has dated latches that read" July 1. 73. Inside the trunk the lid stay is also dated 1870. I am unsure of the the exact origin on these interesting early handles but I believe the came from an old steamer trunk or chest. Handles are approx. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" in size. Mounting plates are approx. 5 1/2" x 2 1/2" in size. They are made of pressed steel with ornate pearl strand pattern design. Handles are in good solid condition and operate well. RARE SMALLER ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VALISE VICTORIAN JENNY LIND STAGECOACH CHEST
You would have to look hard to find a better restored origianl Genny Lind stagecoach trunk. This mid 1800s trunk has had a great restoration including new leather straps and buckles on the outside. Lovely quilted interior. And beatiful restoration of the tooled leather covering. And it does not smell! On the interior it still sports the wood restraining flap that would allow you to fill that side of the trunk and then close it without everything falling out. See the last 2 photos Petite size approximately 20" long. 13.5" wide and 9" deep. A kind and knowledgeable ebayer just added this info. the actual name for one of these is a valise. They used to put that on many of the old labels. Such as trunk, valise, and carpet bag manufacturer. condition. Overall a great looking trunbk but it is about 150+ years old. the hinges have ... morebeen replaced and work perfectly. The lock in not functional but it closes fine. Nice Antique Doll Steamer Trunk with Insert. The trunk is missing the 2 side handles and the hinges are good along with the front lock. The inside is clean and the insert is in very good condition. There is some light paint spots on the outside of the trunk. That looks easy to remove. The trunk is 14" wide. 8 1/2" deep and 9 1/2" tall. The black metal parts on the out side have some paint loss. This auction is for an Antique 1870's Dome Top Steamer Trunk. It is patented on the latches July 1. 1873. In addition the latches have a sideways locking mechanism to keep latch closed(see pictures) This trunk is in very Hard to Find, untouched original condition. It has its original embossed leather top and dark finish on metal& wood. There is a thin original leather covering on the front, back, and sides. Leather has a nice Eastlake design in the front. There is an old yellowed finish or conditioner that is flaking on the top of this leather. Seems like it may be original finish or preservative that was just put on this leather(not leather ... moreon top) I did nothing to this trunk inside or out except to dust it off. No leather conditioners or furniture polish or anything else was used on this trunk. It is as found from large Estate and looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. Someone at one point put on new hinges with wood spacers underneath hinges. I removed hinges and found that the original hinges were broken where the strap meets the barrel. Spacer was just placed underneath and is not glued to the trunk. I put replaced hinges back on so it can be used. The inside of the trunk still has its original litho's intact. The tray and inside bottom section of truck has its paper lining which is coming up or missing in some places and has stains. Paper in lid with 2 litho's is also missing some paper. Stains can be seen where paper covers original hinges on the 2 box lids. Girl on lid of larger box that lowers down and has original latch. Rider on horse is above smaller box lid. Both litho's are in outstanding condition for its age. The outside of trunk the handles are missing on the sides. It has heavy duty latches and hardware. Original Brass lock. Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. Camel or Hump Back Style. Wooden slats across the top. Sides, front and back. The lock is yale. Has the greatest little clover or club design on it. The hardware is gorgeous. Victorian style, trunk style is common or the trunks produced in the late 1800's, 1880's. Large dome. Camel back style. Not slightly domed like some. Very likely belonging to someone from an upper class, usually camel back trunks were bought by people from higher classes, they were more expensive and people bought them b/c they were more beautiful, and b/c they would be placed on the top when they traveled. If their trunk was on top, they rationalized their trunks and belongings would be safer. The trunk is in great condition for its age. The latches however dont latch well. Alligator Embossed Steamer Trunk 1890-1910 This is a versatile and attractive trunk from the turn of the century. A solidly constructed steamer made of wood, trimmed with embossed alligator tin, and featuring a lid with only a slight arc. It’s 34 inches wide, 19 inches front to back, and 22.5 inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and two slats on the front and back. It has new thick black leather handles and a new lid stay– otherwise in original condition. The alligator pattern has been refinished in a rich. Reddish brown that is darker than it may appear in the flash photos. Although there is no evidence of its manufacturer. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Vintage steamer trunk Splendid looking chest. It has a lovely old shine and full of old character. The two brass middle locks and clasps which are nice and shiney. No key long gone. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key, & Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a real nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 16 1/2 inches. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This lovely dome top appears to be made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Some of the boards are rough cut. lumber. These are boards that were used straight off the saw mill and still have the saw blade marks on them since they were not run through a planer. There ... moreare also some typical older character marks or distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have some form of distress marks including these that we have mentioned. This dome top comes with the original working lock. It appears that the key hole cover is missing, although we have still matched up a key that does activate this lock. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are still in good condition. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy slat board cap metal that drapes down over thr front from the dome top has patent dates on it. It is hard to clearly make out the date. We have shown a picture of one of these patent dates. It looks to read, Patd Mar 15(or 16) 80" referring to 1880. The side handles were gone and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Small Antique Humpback Victorian Steamer Trunk--Great Patina
This small antique steamer trunk has beautiful color and is in great shape for its age. It measures 26" long x 16" high x 13" wide. It weighs 26 lbs. All the metal plates are intact but one. And that I will send in a baggie and can be attached by the buyer. The inside is papered and has a beautiful decal of a lovely lady. The bottom has four rollers which all work. The oak wood slats are silky to the touch and have great patina; the tin is colored yellow on the back and sides as the photos reveal. The previous owner put dimes inside the front latches. Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Original Interior Tray Here is a really nice large refinished flat top steamer trunk that dates to around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood on this trunk has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The base wood on the top between the slat boards is rough cut wood. It is not smoothed out like the boards on the rest of the trunk. You might notice this in a close up picture that we have provided. There is a slight contrast in color on these top boards compared to the rest of the boards on the ... moretrunk. The wood is in pretty good condition throughout this trunk. There are some older typical distress marks in various places which include some older nicks and dings, mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. This is a true flat top trunk with no factory arch. This gorgeous trunk has a lot of fancy metal hardware. The metal components that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk comes with a signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have shown a picture of this signature and we have matched up a key that does work properly in this lock. The front latches are original and in good working condition since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched handle straps. This trunk originally had a pair of leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones were. Today these trunks are often considered family heirloom pieces. And make for stylish home decor storage pieces. I am not experienced enough to date this piece.
