The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. This is so you may either leave it as is, or do it the way that suits you best. Trunk would be great as storage. At the end of a bed, as a toy chest, a coffee table, or come up with a fabulous original idea all your own: excellent condition. And will make a great gift for christmas! ANTIQUE CAMEL HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK CHEST DOME TRAY WOOD METAL LARGE VICTORIAN This is a really nice and big 1870's Antique Stea mer trunk pa rti ally restored to original magnifice nce. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Antique Metal Flat Top Steamer Trunk w/ Original Inside Tray Restored/Conserved
Great Rustic Antique Steamer Trunk Possibly a Military Trunk. The reason I think it may be is the trunk's original color was a army green color. The only remnants of the green paint are on the edges when the lid id opened, but it the green enamel is there The trunk is medium sized. When I got it, it was actually locked. I was able to get it unlocked and inside where some papers dated 1942, so I would say it is a least pre-1940's from the design. Hardware, and inside paper I would say it is likely dated to 1880-1910. The lock takes a skeleton key Hinges work great. I assume with the right key the lock would as well The paper from the inside has all been removed so no lingering smells remain. Also removes allergens, etc. Left natural wood. This way you can leave as is, or finish to best suit your needs! Antique Blue Steamer Trunk - Wooden Frame with Metal Corners & Braces
This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. This is a ca.1890 antique flat top steamer trunk. It is steel-covered that has been painted black and floral embossed dark green and bound with oak slats. All of the steel hardwear including the brass lock and the latches are original. The leather handles have been replaced. The key is missing. It has fancy embossed slat clamps and two fingered edge clamps. The bottom has four roller wheels. It is 30"x 18.5"x 23"tall and weighs 45 lbs. The interior which is all original and has not been touched. Is fitted with a lidded tray, hat box and three lovely victorian prints. The only part that is missing is the lid for the right hand box. Antique flat top Trunk- Metal. Painted black with leather handles. There is one latch in the middle with a key hole. But I do not have the key and there are 2 buckle type latches(they work well) at either end and then also 2 slide in latches(they also work well) There are 3 hinges on the back side of the lid and they show some rust, but still function well. There has been some shelf or contact paper applied to part of the interior, but it is all loose and should come off easily. The bottom of the trunk is definitely in need of some TLC. I did not attempt any restoration, just wiped with a dry rag to remove loose dirt and dust. Other than the outside bottom of the trunk it is fairly good condition. Ready for its next home whether you decide to restore or leave as is. This is a really cool metal and leather steamer made by the Wichita Trunk Company. The metal has some rust. But no holes. The leather has some wear, but no rips. One handle is present, one is not. All hardware is intact. The lovely flocked interior is in good shape, but could use a little vacuuming in the bottom. The tray is there, but the leather hinges on one side of the cover has broken as can be seen in the photo. This item is a very nice small metal flattop steamer trunk. It measures 28" x 14.5"x 18" It has the new leather handles. Someone painted this trunk red. We did not change it. Beautifully restored antique dome-top steamer trunk. Metal sides and top are embossed with an intricate floral design and braced with oak slats. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. This piece is both decorative and practical for storage. It most likely dates from the late 1800's This piece has been restored and is in very good condition. There is. However, a small crack on one of the top oak slats. See picture. Also the decoupage shows signs of aging. The entire trunk stands about 18" tall. It is 15.5" wide and 28" long. Up for Auction is an ANTIQUE Vintage Steamer Black Metal Lined Wood TRUNK. It has Nice Metal corners and has a thin lining of metal over wood. Inside it is lined also. There is an insert that has makes a shelf. The bottom of the insert has detatched from the sides. See pictures. The wood is lined with blue and white paper. It has a lock by the Eagle Lock Company which was in business in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There is no key and the middle of the handle is missing. The trunk has the intials PTM on it. The metal is scatched. Warped and dinged from use and it is very old. The lining inside also has marks and is tearing from age. It also has rivots on the sides. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Absolutely FANTASTIC and ONE OF A KIND Piece of Late 1800s European-American Culture. This AUTHENTIC IMMIGRANT TRUNK was brought to the USA by W H POPE. The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. With white, but age darkened painted writing on top. Though European ... morein Origin. I do not know for sure where it originated from. The Estate Owners THOUGHT it came from Belgium or Poland. SIZE: Approx 16" across long. 12 1/2" deep. And 12 1/4" High, not counting handle. CONDITION: Very Good. Few dents. Some paint loss, not too much. This is a small vintage aluminum storage trunk. It measures approx. 16.5" tall. 11" long& 11" wide. Looks to have been hand crafted. Lined with retro blue, green& brown paisley paper. Aluminum shows age with scuffs& scratches. The brass colored handles, clasp and edging show wear and color loss. Some of the paper lifting near edges. Overall a very cool hard-to-find piece. This is a really neat heavy cast metal lock/latch which I believe came off a very old steamer trunk of sorts. It's in good used vintage condition with some surface wear and tarnish and I believe a tiny crack by the bottom bolt that you can't see from the front and doesn't seem to affect its use whatsoever.please view pictures for any further description/condition. Vintage Teal Steamer Trunk Storage Case– Metal Trim– Paper Lined- Long Lock For your consideration is a vintage steamer trunk storage case. Teal in color with gold metal trim. It includes a“Long” lock and a black rubber handle. I am not sure what material the actual trunk is made from, but it is not wood or metal. It appears to resemble some type of heavy duty flexible cardboard material. The inside is lined with paper and the outside has a covering as well. This steamer trunk is in very good condition with some only one or two tiny nicks on the outside of the trunks covering. Inside is clean with no rips or tears and there is no odor. The hinges work well and the trunk opens and closes fine. The lock and latches all close snugly. But there is no key. There is some tarnish and scratches and dents on the metal in areas. Antique silver tin metal over wood steamer trunk early 1900's unique Rare 1930's
For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to approximately 1932. There are stickers on the trunk. Which I did not remove. This is a large trunk, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. I was told that this trunk went from Germany to England and to Scotland and then to the United States. Measures 40" wide, 21" wide and 21" deep. This trunk does show wear, but adds to the history. There is some damage to the inside and made some holes on the underside. This does not effect the look, but would not make a good shipping trunk anymore. This auction is for an Antique Child's Doll Metal& Wood Steamer Trunk with 4 Drawers. It measures 16 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" deep by 8 1/4" tall. It has a working brass latch and a clean fully usable inside with 4 drawers with brass handles and a clothes rack with one hanger- it is in good condition although the leather handles are missing as well as part of the leather straps on the lid- the finish shows wear.
