Medium Size Antique Steamer Trunk
This is a really intriguing medium sized trunk. I bought this at an auction with a couple of other trunks. After I got it home and inspected it a little closer. I realized that I nor anyone else had noticed something. The trunk is partially covered with sheets of copper on both the front and the sides. It has discolored to the point that I wasn't sure but with a little bit of ketchup, on a small spot, the bronze shine started to come through. The back of the panels(which are hard to see unless you look closely) are still very shiny. I don't do any restoration work but with a little elbow grease, this is a diamond in the rough! The trunk does have some flaws.both handles are gone as are the latches and the top part of the lock. the bottom of the lock remains. the top is bare cedar wood so I can only assume that the entire trunk is ... moremade of cedar as well. As the rest of it is covered in copper, some other metal(likely tin) and strapping I can't tell for sure. There are 4 casters.two are recessed.designed more as a pull trunk. There is a paper note on the top. Which would easily come off, stating the last time it was used was 1925. All original and unmolested, with removable tray and compartments adorned with the original lithographs. The interior design, with the lithos, look like the MM Secor or Martin Maier trunks I have seen listed, including the size, look at some of them. The exterior is ornately decorated with iron, steel and leather. A lot of the ornamental leather has cracked and flaked off, the right latch has a break in the loop, it still functions fine. Antique 1860's Stage Coach Wagon rare trunk leather brass nails old chest
Selling this rarely found stagecoach travel trunk from circa 1860 that has been refinished. The leather of the top of the trunk had shrunk to the point where it could not be reattached to the sides so I covered it with a black buffalo hide that is thick and comfortable to sit on. I think the results are pretty good.There is a minimal color difference between the old and original leather. Every brass nail is original to this trunk. Because the original leather could not be reattached to the top. I built a wooden seat, added some padding and covered it with the new hide. It functions perfectly as a seat. The interior of the trunk has a small door. It is through this small door that users would store their laundry. There is some available space to store some small items. The leather on the bottom. very nice antique carriage travel trunk chest brass tacks 1827
Selling this old travel trunk/chest that I have refinished. The trunk is covered with old brass tacks. The top has a design that resembles a football along with the letters I.W. Prior to refurbishing the chest was covered in deerhide and the brass tacks shown. The interior had newspaper dated 1827. Prior to staining the wood had an almost white color to it. As a result. The Early American Minwax stain looks great on it. The trunk was treated with three coats of polyuerothane. The handles are original as is the lock. There is no key. I add the stays to the trunk. This small antique steamer trunk has beautiful color and is in great shape for its age. It measures 26" long x 16" high x 13" wide. It weighs 26 lbs. All the metal plates are intact but one. And that I will send in a baggie and can be attached by the buyer. The inside is papered and has a beautiful decal of a lovely lady. The bottom has four rollers which all work. The oak wood slats are silky to the touch and have great patina; the tin is colored yellow on the back and sides as the photos reveal. The previous owner put dimes inside the front latches. A late18th to early 19th Century American Chippendale large chest of drawers. Possibly Southern in origin. Height- 43 5/8 inches Width- 43 inches Depth- 20 inches American Revolutionary to Federal Period large chest of drawers. Appropriate wear to the internal parts and rails consistent with the age. Original finish with wear. Replacement handles. The chest may have originally had single drop pulls and as there is a single hole space under the present handles. Mahogany or black cherry veneer over poplar or elm secondary woods. All woods are well desiccated. Appropriate to the suggested time period. Appears that all of the original wood is intact including secondary woods. Varied hand cut dovetails. Mortise and tenon interior. Original back panels. Hand chamfered throughout. Interesting progression of individual drawer height; top- 5 7/8 inches, ... moresecond- 6 7/8 inches, third- 7 7/8 and bottom- 8 7/8 inches. Top drawer face is beveled edged. Needs a good deep polishing and fill ins to scratches. Minor vaneer flaking and nicks on top, front, sides and feet. Structurally solid. Overall in very good condition. A terrific period piece of American/Southeastern furniture. Provenance: Mr. and Mrs. William Marvin'Duke' Weadon. Originally from Virginia and Mr. Weadon a practicing attorney in Washington, D.C. during the 1940's and 50's. Gifted in 1960 to the present owner, a family friend. Victorian Tunbridge Ware Domed Box. Circa 1880 This is a beautiful Domed Tunbridge Ware Box measuring 10 1/4 inches in length. 5 1/2 inches in depth and the height is 5 inches. Circa 1880. It has wonderful geometric design of inlaid decoration spanning the front through to the back of the box with a central inlay on the lid. There is a brass escutchion(sorry. No key) and the lid is domed in shape. Condition: There is a few surface scratches consistent with age. On the front of the box on the right hand side there is a section of banding missing, photograph provided.

Measuring 16 x 16 and 17 tall. Great color, iron straps, missing leather handles. Has a key that was with the trunk but does not open. Used by a child or to hold documents and personal items. Antique trunks, also called traveling chests, were originally used as luggage for extended trips by stagecoach, train, or steamship. Dome Top trunks were built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Available for purchase is a remarkable piece- an A nti que(circa late 19th Century) Campaign Chest. It appears to be made of teak wood and it is t wo(2) stacked but separate pieces. Th e top drawe r ac tually folds down into a desk with a green leather inset. The desk has multiple compa rtments and drawe rs. Below this fold- out/down desk drawer there are three over two smaller draw ers complet ing the first(t op) piece. The second(bottom) pi ece is made of two larger dr awers- the same size as the desk drawer. Original fl ush brass milit ary handles and accents(corners) and brass c arrying handles o n its sides. It measures 49-3/8" wide x 22-1/2" deep x 28-1/4" high with the splash, the ball feet have it sitting about 5-1/4" off the floor. There is a lock, but no key and no catch part. It is as it was when taken out the attic of an estate in Pennsylvania. It had ... morebeen owned by the Moul family before I purchased it. Great Great Great Rare find here. 3 drawers slide nicely. The fronts show wear. And I believe the wood pulls not to be original to the trunk but are old. There are 2 strap hinges which look like they may be original to the chest, but have been relocated on it, probably because they pulled out at some point in their life. I have not done any work on it other than cleaning and adding a canvas strap so the lid won't flip all the way open. Up for sale is a antique all wood immigrants trunk. It is a great antique trunk from the 1800's. It does show signs of aging wood cracked no lock in the front. The trunk is 44 3/4long. 24 1/4inches tall. The bottom is 18 1/4inches deep and the top is 23 1/2inches deep. It could use a good cleaning been stored for years. I will be listing this item plus other oak piece from a local estate. The owner was a refinisher. These were some of the projects that had never got done or even started. The chest has the original working lock and key and the strap hinges and side handles are blacksmith made wrought iron. Note the beautiful large round head hand forged strap hinge rosehead nail attachments. There are also square wooden pegs throughout. The interior is solid and has a"candle box" to the right. The dimensions are 42" wide by 25" tall and 21" front to back. Also note the quality touch of the small round wooden projectiles in the rear to keep the chest from hitting the wall and making the lid difficult to open. There is one rosehead nail that has an old replacement in the very rear. Also. The floor inside the chest is solid although the underside that rests on the floor shows wood loss from a decade ago. This chest came from the barn of my family farm in Vermont that dated back to 1776. The farm, not the chest) I have enjoyed this chest and carried it around for 50 years. Completely Antique Beat up Victorian Trunk From the 1800s
This is a very old trunk from the 1800s that had leather covering on it.It needs restoring and scent cleaning( it smells as old as it looks) but you can always say you have a very old piece. The inside was lined in linen.it has some very nice hardware and alot of it, another indication of a good trunk maker. With Corbin locks the better lock makers. it doesnt have the tray, looks like it may have had a hat box on the tray. Of course its a dome top, but I believe due to the linen and hardware it may be a Victorian Ladies or possibly a Wedding Trunk.

Beautiful Antique Dome Half Trunk This is one of the nicest. Most stylish half trunks I have come across in my 25+ years of refinishing and collecting. Technically, this is a hat or bonnet trunk, but many refer to them as half trunks as well. My wife actually purchased this some years back and it has been in my collection, but now it's time to make room for a"larger model" This trunk is actually a little smaller than a true"half" trunk, but it has all the hardware and adornments of the larger fancy dome tops. Notice the wide scalloped metal banding surrounding the top and sides. This is the only trunk I've ever seen with this feature. Very fancy hardware, decorative handle caps, thick solid wood, very well made, solid/stout, all intact and in excellent condition. The interior is lined with a beautiful Victorian ... moreprint and it comes with the tray as pictured. There is a badge on the top front that reads"The Sweat-Comings Company, Inc. Solid Northern Cabinet Woods at Richford, Vermont" I've done some research and found that this was a high quality furniture maker whose pieces are quite collectible, however I can find very little information on the company and nothing on the trunk. It's likely this badge was added to the trunk at a later date than when it was made. Dimensions are 18" wide x 18" deep x 21" tall at the dome peak. Item Description: You are bidding on an antique doll chest/steamer trunk manufactured by an unknown maker. The chest measures 20" X 13" X 11" and appears to be constructed of wood. Tin and leather. There is an interior compartment to hold accessories on the underside of the trunk top(see photos 7, 8 and 9) The lock is broken(see photo 6) and there is oxidation and other wear consistent with age and use(see photos) but otherwise the trunk is in good condition.

This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique Steamer Trunk Patented 1895
This is a beautiful Flat Top metal covered trunk. This trunk has been repainted in Red with Black accents and would look great if professionally restored. The interior is painted red also and has a musty smell. These trunks are hard to find in good condition as many have rusted over time and not survived well through the years. I've seen many metal covered trunks but this one is much nicer with its amazingly ornate metal work stamped"Patented 1895" The hardwood slats can be refinished to show a beautiful wood grain. Antique 1800's Large Sole Leather Trunk Made By Haskell Brothers Chicago IL
Awesome 1800's Antique Sole Leather Trunk made by Haskell Bro's. Chicago IL. Perhaps one of a kind since I've never seen one exactly like it before and due to the fact, the original owner was a multi-millionaire(please read the history below) during that time period. This is definitely museum worthy! It is very structurally sound and in overall good condition! The primary leather has minor cracking which is to be expected for a trunk of this age. The leather is still very tight and secure. All stitching is tight as well. Which is quite remarkable! Haskell Bro's Makers Chicago is stamped into the leather on the top of the lid and is also visible on the brass locking latches. As you can see in the photos, the handles and a loop are worn off, but worthwhile to restore since all the studs are still there. The stud tacks appear ... moreto be hand hammered and all parts appear to be original. Extremely well made! The inside is lined with material with very few tears overall. Again. Quite remarkable for a Trunk that is well over 100 yrs old! There are no compartments inside. The wood slats are all in real good condition& the wood trim is as well. I'm unsure if it's oak, but I assume so. The bottom is in good condition, although as shown in the photo, there is a probable water stain. Included are leather travel straps. A leather handle, a buckle and two keys. I was told they are the original keys, however, one clearly says Hartmann. I have not tested these keys and am scared to out of fear they may get stuck when turning. I did however check to see if they went into the keyholes and both do easily. Measures 24" high. 20" wide and is 36" long. Please note. The top of the trunk appears in the pictures to be a bit"washed out, due to the excessive natural light. It is not washed out.
