Beautiful vintage cedar wood trunk jewelry box with brass straps with silhouette figures on top of box and in the front of the box. The wood trunk measures 10 3/4" in length by 6 1/4" in depth and 4 3/4" tall. Overall in very good condition but there is one place at the top back. Shown in the last picture where there is knotted area from the wood. There is some patina on the brass and some light scratching but overall a very lovely old piece. Vintage, large, heavy duty, Steamer Trunk in very very nice, solid, original, unrestored, condition. The construction consists of metal over thick sawn wood. The metal is attached with hundreds of round rivets as seen in my photos. I have never seen a trunk built this well. The handles are all metal and in wonderful condition. All end caps are all present very nice. It weighs about 90 pounds! I would rate this very handsome trunk an 8 out of 10. Vintage planter/cup looks like a tree stump with wrinkly shriveled up face and a bright red clothed elf hanging on. Bottom of cup says Japan and nothing else. The inside of the cup along the bottom where it is hard to reached with a brush it has dirt. It also has some around the top inside of the cup. It looks like it was used as a planter. Vintage Military or College/Travel Trunk - Wooden Footlocker?
This is a terrific antique wood trunk with both military and travel and college insignias. They seem to be painted on and not paper decals. The trunk is about 30 inches by 16 inches by 12 inches. The locations mentioned on the trunk include"Palo Alto" and"Stanford" and"Moffet Base" and"Hawaii" as well as others. The trunk has a lift out sock insert. The lock is missing. There is the name"Walt Natishyn. There is also a stain on the bottom of the trunk. Maybe some hair gel or something spilled. I don't know if this was an early wood Army footlocker that became a college trunk or the other way around. My dad(a WWII guy) tells me that there were some wooden footlockers in the early part of the war. The handles are intact and are canvas. If I have to guess, I would say that it was most likely used as a tool chest, although we bought it to use as under-window seating bench, and it was a great choice. Painted in light blue, it still shows the original signs of wear, and it only brings out the character of the piece. Build so well it will last forever. The cover is fully closes(in case there is a question about it) We have a long cushion pillow that we used to cover the bench with for a comfortable sitting. you will be getting it for free when you buy the chest. A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely solid. And equipped with casters and great oak slats. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. This is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made in the same style of the famous expensive ones. The latch and handle are intact and work like they should. The lid opens/closes easily. It is worn- marks. Scratches, a label on the lid, tape residue. Bent edges, and over all wear. Please look at the pictures because they are also part of the description. To me it looks brown but in the pictures the camera flash makes it show up greenish. The label on the inside reads'NVF Kennett Containers National Vulcanized Fibre Company Wilmington Delaware' I have no idea if it is original. 1930s White Elephant Planter This month I am digging into several boxes of miscellany that have been stored away for almost a decade. Most of the stuff is much older. Of course, having been acquired at estate sales, auctions and antiques malls during the preceding 25 years or so. One of my finds is a white elephant that carries pastel blue and green cracked eggshells on its back. I do not know the significance of this combination. perhaps part of an Easter or spring tradition? Made of stoneware or pottery. The elephant is in walking stance, trunk up, revealing a pink mouth and short yellow tusks. It appears to have been used as a planter or flower holder. Once it might have served as a candy container, too. The elephant itself has a semi-gloss glaze while the eggshells have a glossy finish. The piece weighs 1.25 lbs. and measures 8 inches ... morelong from trunk to tail. 6 inches high at the head and 6.5 inches wide across its back, including the eggshells. On the bottom of one foot, the backstamp reads"Made in Germany" in a green circle. Based on the overall style and the mark, I am guessing that this piece dates from the 1930s or possibly earlier. The elephant is structurally sound. With no chips, but does have some condition issues. Inside the eggshells are brown stains, likely from water or plant matter, and brown stains also are visible on their exterior rims. Extraneous marks or cracks appear on the elephant's trunk, across one eye and in back of an ear. The green eggshell still bears a frayed purple ribbon threaded through two holes; the blue eggshell is missing its ribbon. I have dusted off the elephant and given it a quick once-over with a damp cloth. Further cleaning is up to the new owner. Vintage Felt Covered Tiffany& Co T&Co. Trunk Storage Case 16 1/2" x 12 1/2" You are bidding on an original circa 1900's Tiffany& Co. felt covered latching storage case. This auction is for the case you see pictured. It was original used to house a very large sterling silver bowl. The outside is a felt material with a mesh sort of bottom. The outside of the case shows some age with peeling/tearing on the edges and bottom. There is some stains as well. The inside of the case is quite beautiful and in good shape given its age. Its a soft felt material that is intact with no rips or tears. There is some light discoloring where the feet of the bowl rest in the case. It has two front turn latches that will secure the lid close for transportation.
