This is a beautiful curved Dome top trunk. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware, lots of detail, makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I'm selling it for a friend. She bought it at a local antique store here in Grass Valley about 20 years ago. No key. What you see is what you get. 31x17x12.5 I was told this piece was purchased in Majorca Spain in the 60's by a navy man coming home. Don't have key but lock function does work with screwdriver or anything to turn lock. Master lock doesn't have key either. If you purchase trunk and want me to grind off masterlock I will paper interior is in nice shape. Vintage Humpback Steamer Trunk Treasure Chest 1800's Victorian
The trunk is in fairly good shape considering what is thought to be its age(1880s? Dimensions are 32" x 18" x 21" No mold that I can see. Nice Patina to the metal parts and normal wear to wood. Both straps pictured are intact. No keys and middle lock as been busted the white stuff on middle lock is glue from tape. The hardware on top says"Pat Mar 1880" which is the patent date from the research I've done. The lock says Pat Jul 972 which is apparently the patent date of the lock as July 9, 1872. The bottom is intact and all 4 wheeles are there, there is a small piece of wood missing from inside see pics. the weight of item is appx. 35-40 lbs but adding for crate weight it is showing 60-65 lbs appx.

DELIGHTFUL VINTAGE MINIATURE BRASS BOUND STEAMER TRUNK - CHILD'S LUGGAGE ?
Please see the pictures below the description You are bidding on a vintage miniature brass bound steamer trunk. This is a delightful little vintage trunk that I would say was probably made during the early 1900s. I think it was locally made here in West Cornwall- not sure of its original purpose. But it could well have been made as an item of child's luggage, a toy, or just made as a decorative item. It is made of early plywood which is covered in a painted rexine type imitation leather which was popular in those days. The banding looks to be of boxwood or similar with the corners being reinforced with brass. The banding is held on with brass screws. It has a sewn leather handle and a metal lock. There is a small key with it which fits the lock, but does not actually lock it. The sprung clasp is opened by sliding the button on the lock ... moreto the right. The inside has been painted in pale green, which looks to be original- there is a previous owners name and address from St.Ives written inside the lid which looks to be in a young persons handwriting. It is in very good vintage condition- there are a few of the brass screws missing from the banding, and the brass has not been cleaned for many years, giving it a lovely vintage look that a full size trunk of this age would have acquired. There is some slight deterioration of the surface of the lock commensurate with age. A superb little miniature item that measures approximately 30cm x 23cm x 14cm. It weighs just over 1.4kg. ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VINTAGE VICTORIAN HIGH DOME TOP CHILD'S TRUNK
During the mid to late 1800's trunks were being made with a dome shape top. This was due to passengers not wanting their trunks being put at the bottom of the stack when traveling. Medium size trunk may have been used for a child. The wood all appears solid and it looks all be pine. Exterior is wrapped in metal with wooden strips and mesh like fabric. The bottom of the trunk has wooden strips with metal casters for rolling. The trunk measures 26 inches long X 18 inches high X a depth of 15 inches. There are round decorative pieces of some type of metal decorating the top and front. The pattern of the canvas is called Mesh and Square. The interior of the trunk is thin pin with light brown paper covering it. Trunks made toward the end of the 1800's used more decorative paper inside. There is an old lithograph picture of a young girl ... moreon the interior side of the dome top. There is a tray that has a compartment that can be removed. It has a lid and a lithograph paper design on it. I believe the wood to be pine and I am not sure what material any of the hardware is. The lock will need a skeleton key which I do not have. Vintage 1900 s Winship Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Utica, NY Made in the USA
Up for bid is a W W Winship and Sons Extra Quality wardrobe trunk. It is very rare. This has 2 doors that open and is made to sit in a corner and have access to all of the trunk. It has 4 different style hangers and a total of 7 hangers, all wooden. In the hanging compartment when the trunk is open the rods that hold the hanger extend out of the trunk for more room. The drawers are all functional, the top drawer has dividers in it, the bottom drawer is a 2 drawer compartment with straps in the bottom. The handle on the top is still together and solid but is worn. The inside has some spots but the material is in fair to good condition considering its age. The outside has scuffs and wear but has held up well. I will crate for shipping.

A Vintage Steamer Trunk This auction is for a stylish. Map covered, vintage steamer trunk. It's a useful sized trunk. a great storage piece for the bedroom, a useful shoe box for the hallway, or it would make a great coffee table with room inside for newspapers, books and magazines. The trunk is a good age but in good vintage condition. it's made from ply and the original fabric covering has been removed and replaced with French maps of Morocco. Tunisia and Algeria. The maps are Michelin ones and date from the 1950's. It has four beech bands around it's girth for strength and protection. The bands have metal studs and end caps. The trunk has a leather handle to each end which are later replacements. It has a central lock and catch with a clip catch to either side. The left hand catch is a little on the fiddly side and we do ... morenot have a key for the lock. The trunk has a waxed finish. The exterior has light wear. Some scuffs and scrapes.maps are intact. The map paper on the bottom front edge of the lid has become brown stained due to the wet glue reacting with the metal strip beneath when it was applied. The metal parts are tarnished. The interior of the trunk has a grey/brown patterned paper lining which is in quite good vintage condition. A few small tears. The cover sheets of the maps have been pasted to the inside of the lid. Vintage Antique Tin Clad Humpback Steamer Trunk Floral Pattern
You're bidding on a lovely antique tin clad humpback steamer trunk that measures 32x19x18" and is about 20" at the top of the hump. It has the original stamped floral pattern tin on the outside and a removable tray on the inside with an extra divider slat- we've looked and looked but can't figure out where that goes. If you look closely at the top you can see the original blue and gold coloring of the tin that contrasts with the red on the sides and back. It is missing the lower half of the left latch on the front(see pictures) The interior is in decent condition. No sign/smell of mold or mildew despite the stains on the tray- it is as dry as a bone. They are made of plywood(looks like birch or cedar to me) about 1/4 inch thick- 3 of the hangers are in VERY GOOD CONDITION- 1 has some warpage. Overall I would rate the lot as GOOD PLUS CONDITION. Antique Vintage Steamer Travel Trunk With Rollers on each bottom corner and a Dome Top The trunk is 16.5 inches tall. 14 inches wide, 13 inches deep, 26 inches long and weighs an estimated 30 to 40 pounds. One leather end handle is missing. And one of the hinges is broken. The travel trunk was used during the 1800s and judging by the design and fittings. It must have been a fine, high quality trunk. Rare Vintage Antique Humpback Steamer Dome Top Trunk lined with Copper
I have up for sale a unique and wonderful vintage Copper Covered Humpback Steamer Trunk- yes you are reading this right- copper covered. First time in nearly 30 years of dealing that I have seen a humpback made with copper. It comes from the estate of an elder pair of local collector's. They had a small private museum and this was one of the items in the museum. The trunk weighs approx 33 lbs as you see it. Measures approx 26" long x 19" tall, and 15" deep. It has wood slates, a copper covered body, and brass plated latches and brass plated handles on the sides. I estimate the age to be from the early 1900s to 1940s. The trunk is in very good overall condition! The copper has some age and use wear. Looks as though it was polished way back when and has now darkened and tarnished over. The interior looks as though it was ... moreredone somewhere down the line. This is a good solid piece, not too big not too small, nice and sturdy, very unusual with the copper covering. Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. Quality and color. Restore a lot of flat top trunks and you will get to know this canvas quite well, it can be proof there truly is a fine line between love and hate. Most flat top trunks that were covered in canvas end up having the canvas removed and the wood underneath refinished(we usually"refinish" a flat top as opposed to"restoring" it) Most of the time it's removed because it's too rotten to keep. Antique Wardrobe or Traveling Wardrobe Trunk. Circa 1900s-1930s in excellent condition. American company, Lutz& Company of Washington, DC. Opens to wardrobe on left and drawers on right. On lower left is a case for shoes or other accessories. Top right drawer is divided into 3 sections with a lock(don't have the key) Bottom drawer is a hat drawer. There are 5 long hangers and 2 short hangers. There is an horizontal presser bar to hold items in place. Hangers are on chrome rods that telescope out, allowing the clothing to not be pressed so tightly when trunk is open. There is a Locking Bar on the right to hold the drawers closed while in transit. When on end, the top, which opens upward, is slightly domed. Leather handle on right end is no longer functional. All metal hardware is in place and the outside lock has a functional KEY. ... moreThe outside seems to be made of wood, which has some cracking, mostly the right domed end(see photo) The stains on the outside come out for a brief time with oiling. Would be beautiful if redone. Item has been used for the last 35 years as storage or as furniture. I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live. A very large wardrobe trunk made over 100 years ago by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made and in virtually perfect condition. It is fitted with a fully equipped interior and oak slats and ball castors on the exterior. This fine heavy trunk is complete and fully functional. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. The lock is stamped and made by Eagle Lock Co. of Terryville, Conn. and we believe the trunk to be circa 1900 give or take. It is in good antique condition with normal surface wear commensurate with age and use- plenty of dings, scratches, etc. The leather handles on each side have been lost, and one rolling wheel/castor is missing on the bottom(please see photos) The trunk retains the tray insert on the inside and there is some wear and tear to the paper lining on the inside. It is made of thick rich genuine leather with a gorgeous patina in hues ranging from brown to cognac to tan. It has two wooden skids on the back for protection. And it comes with a removable tan canvas cover and a pair of long leather straps that wrap all the way around the bag. The straps are damaged, and one of them is torn so it no longer fits all the way around the case. I would recommend replacing the straps. There is a lovely dark blue fabric interior lining. And t here are two functional brass hardware latches on this trunk. The central latch was removed from the case at some point.
