Cavalier VINTAGE pedestal style cedar hope chest with drawer at the bottom
This is an awesome vintage piece of furniture. It is a Cavalier cedar hope chest. It is pedestal style and stands off the ground. It has a bottom drawer. I have never seen one like this. There is no key. On the back it has a stamp that says chest and the best I can make out the numbers one set is 513 8609. But I cannot make out the second stamped set. This is absolutely beautiful and would be great for anyone that collects antiques and vintage items. There is the original paper on the inside of the lid that tells what it is and all about the wood that was used in making the item. This item is in really good condition given its apparent age. The inside looks like brand new. The lid on the front corner does have a chip taken out of it. Other than that there is some minor scratches that comes along with the age of the piece. It has a metal frame ... moreto hold a name plate and has the original postcard to order the name plate. The item measures 40 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 29 1/2 inches tall. Original antique/vintage Lane Cedar Chest. This has been in our family since 1947. It is Style# 2120. Serial# 641260. Date of manufacture is Serial# in reverse: 06/21/46. It measures approximately 48" long x 18" wide x 18" high. I have included several pictures so you can see the overall condition. There are light scratches on the lid(nothing deep) and a few more on the front and sides. There are also a few small patches where the veneer has come off on the edges and one section(see 8th picture) where one of my children drew a couple of small pictures. This might be able to be restored. The interior is in very good condition. The lid opens smoothly and closes completely. Legs are solid and intact. At one point. The Lane Company issued a recall on the locks/latches of these chests so the lock has been removed. Vintage 1975 Lane Hope/Blanket Cedar Chest Declaration of Independence? New Lock
For sale is a Vintage 1975 Lane Hope/Blanket Cedar Chest with New Lock! I believe it shows the Declaration of Independence but I am not exactly sure and the company could not tell me since they have lost their vintage records in a flood. It is style# 2389-22 and the serial# is 2575190. The chest shows normal wear like scratches and scuffs. It measures 40x17x17" and has two leather straps on each side(forgot the pic of that) and one has ripped and needs to be fixed. This seems to be an unique chest since I have not been able to find one like it. There was a recall on the lock and it has been replaced by a lock sent from Lane Co. We opened it and found her original Wedding dress which I have a picture of. IL- Far west Chicago suburbs) UP FOR AUCTION: A gorgeous. Vintage, Art Deco, walnut waterfall-style cedar-lined blanket or hope chest. Elegant contrasting veneer inlay work on front center. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit ... moreof veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. This original antique/vintage Lane Cedar Chest is a beautiful family heirloom. It is Style# 2120. Serial# 641260. Date of manufacture is Serial# in reverse: 06/21/46. It measures approximately 48" long x 18" wide x 18" high. I have included several pictures so you can see the overall condition. There are some light scratches on the lid and a few more on the front and sides. There are also a few small patches where the veneer has come off on the edges and one section(see 8th picture) where one of my children drew a couple of small pictures. This might be able to be restored. The interior is in very good condition. The lid opens smoothly and closes completely. Legs are solid and intact. At one point. The Lane Company issued a recall on the locks/latches of these chests so the lock has been removed. Vintage early 30's Lane Cedar Quilt Hope Chest Clinton Iowa Tucker Furniture
This antique includes a great provenance. But please note that this is local pick-up only in Clinton, Iowa. This Lane cedar quilt chest was put only lay-away at the Tucker Furniture store in Clinton, Iowa, in 1933 by the then Opal Wells. The pictures show that there were several payments over the next year before finally redeeming the chest in time for her wedding to Larry Wiley in 1934. The original warranty card is also included as it was never actually mailed in. The chest stood at the foot of her bed for more than 50 years. There are some scratches on the top from wear over the years, but the rest of the piece is in beautiful condition. This is a special piece for the right local antique collector!

ANTIQUE PAINTED WOODEN CHEST TRUNK VINTAGE ORIENT THEME GREAT HOPE CHEST
This trunk belonged to an aunt of mine who passed away in 1988 at the age of 102 years old. She at the time told of this trunk being in the family when she was a child. This would date this trunk back to the late 1800's at a minimum. Now over the years someone put a hasp on the thing in order to keep it secure(locked) One of the clips that hold the thing shut has the metal clamp or"hook" part missing. I have been told by antique dealers that it is not too hard to find one. The flowers. And birds that are put on it(some form of inlay or type of paint) are quite pretty. The weight of the truck empty is approx 19 pounds. The length is 32 inches. The height is at about 12+ inches, and the width is approx 16 inches. 32 x 16 x 12) It has dust on it and I have since wiped it off. Beautiful. Antique, Vintage, Roos,cedar chest from the 30's is an amazing piece! It has nice. Stately carved feet, carved trim and a carved section on the front. It has the original Roos paper still attached inside and the original heavy paper lining is almost perfect.The only thing that really shows its age is some marking on the top. It has some scratches and a moisture stain. I went over it with an oil based scratched cover and it is by no means perfect on the top but as a whole, still displays beautifully. You also could always put a doily, cushion or tea tray on the top to hide the moisture stain. Please look closely at pictures. It is approx 45" long, 20" wide and 26 1/4" tall. Beautifuly Renewed Vintage 1932 Lane Cedar Hope Chest, Blanket/Storage Chest
Absolutely Beautiful Renewed 1932 Lane Cedar Hope Chest. This is a really amazing chest with fantastic colors. Beautiful decor and is in great condition. It's a solid chest. Very well built and has stood the test of time exceptionally well. Overall, the chest is in outstanding shape considering its been around since before the big war. All the trim pieces are fully intact. The hinges are tight, the ornate feet are very secure, the inside is perfect and very aromatic. There are a few small pieces of veneer missing. One on the top right hand end, a very small piece on the top left side and a few slight chips across the back. I don't replace veneer but I do stain the underlying layer of veneer so the missing pieces don't stand out so much. This chest was definitely taken care of through the years and with good care it should remain ... morebeautiful for many years to come. This is truly a rare heirloom piece that would look great in any home. This chest has been renewed by numerous hours of polishing to remove the surface scratches and smooth out the deeper damage. After the polishing process. I rub it with rejuvenating oils then spray a few coats of clear to preserve the new-found beauty. What results is a chest that looks years younger. It does have a few minor chips and dings that you expect from such an old chest but they don't stand out after the renewing process. The lock has been disabled due to a Lane recall. 48" wide. 20.5" tall and 19" deep Serial# 236111. Built November 16 1932 The pics look good but I don't think they do it justice. This is a beautiful genuine antique Lane brand cedar lined hope chest which belonged to my grandmother. She was given this as a 9th grade graduation gift in 1952 from her mom and dad. I do not know the actual date of manufacturing only the year she was given it. According to the product information given below and the serial number. The date of manufacturing is 08/02/50. The color is a beautiful medium brown and made out of solid cedar wood and veneer on the outside and brown stain finish. This chest is very secure and sturdy.
