I received the chest in the early-to-mid 70s and had it professionally refinished with a walnut stain in 1979. Some of the grain is slightly raised on the front(as seen in the picture) Several pictures were taken under different lighting conditions. There are a few very minor scratches. Several of you were so disappointed as you were recently outbid on a box I sold that was similar yet different in looks and today is your lucky day because I had a visitor and was able to get another so good luck. This auction is for a very unique. Rare, weird, strange in looks and as you can see by the pictures becomes milky like auras from its inner powers. It is a a powerful hope chest, wish vintage old wooden box. Belonged to a deceased White Witch from that same collection. Purchased at an estate sale by an investigator of the paranormal in which visited me over the weekend and I have some super nice pieces that he brought to me so you*WILL* want to keep an eye out on my auctions. She treasured this piece in which was another item that her MOTHER had given to ... moreher, as it was one of the last things she gave her as she felt lead to as she had always cherished her wish boxes and there were several and I do have others yet that are unique as they were family heirlooms and have been in the family and used by several throughout the years and good always seem to rain and follow each and everyone of them. Stories throughout the years have held strong and still to this day that the boxes would slow the aging process. The box has been tested to have high emfs as it has been tested several times. Auras have been seen all around the box like a misty cloud. Up for sale is a very nice vintage wood hope chest. It's made like the real cedar chests. But it is not cedar. It's a hard wood with a mahogany finish to it. Beautifully made. Very minor tiny flecks of scratches to finish. Measure 3 3/4" wide x 1 7/8" tall x 1 7/8" deep. Sturdy and very nicely made. From the 1960's or early 70's as all items from this estate are from that era. I am not an expert on doll house furniture. So please ask if you have any questions. A beautiful and heavy vintage cedar-bottomed hope chest/ blanket chest. This chest is all original and is in excellent condition. Purchased sometime in the 1970’s. The dimensions are 37.25” long x 21.25” wide by 18” high. It has the thick. Original leather stitched carry handles and brass corner decorations to protect the edges. It comes with the two original interior divider shelves that can slide from side to side inside the chest(shown) It was kept in my mother’s library side room and was used to store items for safekeeping, so it was rarely opened. The lock latches perfectly and works as it should. It comes with two original keys. My mother always called it her"cedar lined chest" when we talked about it, and she kept her antique quilts and antique dolls in it, but after looking inside, I am not 100% positive the ENTIRE chest ... moreis cedar inside- the bottom definitely smells like cedar, the sides not so much, so please look at the pictures of the interior that I have included so you can decide. Vintage 1975 Handmade Solid Wood TOY BOX Hope Chest w Sliding Doors & Shelf
This was my toy box as a little girl. It was custom made for me in 1975 by one of my Father's employees at the Franklin County Prison in Chambersburg. PA. It's solid(stained) wood, but I don't know what kind of wood. It has some weight to it- it's not flimsy. Square on the bottom and angled on top. 2 sliding doors with white knobs. The track the doors slide on is heavy plastic. 2 shelves for books or stuffed animals, etc. 3 feet high, 3 feet wide. It's in such good shape. It's old, so I won't say it's excellent. But it's close. It's been covered in storage for many years to minimize dust or wear. It's extremely sturdy. It could be painted to look more kid friendly. It was the 70's- brown was in! The only thing that I can find'wrong' with it is that there is a sliver of a water mark on ... morethe bottom left front. I couldn't get a good photo of it. It is well made, well woven and sturdy, about 25 pounds) in a hand woven wicker material over a wooden trunk. The lid has 2 wicker supports across the top and the 2 hinges on each side work well. There are 2 arched carrying handles on each side to help carry, move it& set it in place. The front has a brass hinged clasp that fits over 2 protruding cylinders to keep the lid in place. Nice vintage cedar lined wood hope chest/foot locker. Has interesting copper bindings/accents. My dad owned this for many years. He used it as a coffee table. I remember it from at least the 70's as a kid. Was used for vhs storage to give you an idea of how long it's been in the family! Has the usual patina. I didn't clean it. Just wiped it down. Offered here is Barbie's(and Midge's) Hope Chest. Part of the Four Poster Bed and Hope Chest set made by Susy Goose in 1961-65. It's made of heavy styrene plastic, grooved to look like wood to coordinate with her other fancy furniture. Color is white, and this is the version with the small pull handles. Chest has a single ... moreworking drawer(that looks like four) It's clean and pretty with no marks, save the Susy Goose logo on base! All four of the drawer pulls are in place. But only two of its four little feet still there; the two that are present are VERY small pegs; the small drawer pull version of the hope chest shown in Marl Davidson's book has larger feet than the auction chest. Perhaps these little feet were a problem, and discontinued quickly. Who knows? Piece measures 6½ by 2½ by 1½ inches. Please study the photos-they're part of the description! Vintage 1966 Remco HEIDI and JAN playset DRESSER. HOPE CHEST, battery-operated LAMP furniture Thanks for visiting my auction! Heidi and Jan were Remco's most popular dolls of the 1960s. Little 5- to 6-inch"Pocketbook Dolls. Like their contemporary Penny Brite. Heidi and Jan had several playsets and furniture to make playing with them more fun. Here are three of the furniture pieces, from various sets: dresser with mirror. Hope chest, and lamp table with battery-operated lamp. All are made of hard plastic. The dresser has two working drawers-red ones. Its pretend mirror now is missing. Lift the hope chest lid and see a tray. Which lifts out and is lined in blue velveteen, and a red drawer beneath that, which lifts out rather than slides. Inside of lid has a pretend mirror-which is loose and needs to be glued in place(taped now) The ... morelamp table has a shelf in a more orange-y color than the drawers. It's a nifty thing, with its original bulb still in place It appears to take a AA battery-has prongs to hold some sort of power source in the lower part. You twist the base and it clicks-little pins slide around in a track-and lamp should turn on and off(see photo) Alas, I couldn't get it to work, but the bulb most probably has burned out-after all, it is 48 years old! I can't promise that it will work with a new bulb. All are clean and have no cracks or chips. There is a little yellow discoloration on the creamy-white plastic; I haven't used any strong cleaners on it so don't know whether it could be removed(often Clearasil and sunlight work wonders, even on hard plastic! Lamp has a few dark spots, especially under the lampshade, and the shade has a tiny melt mark. The trio is cute, well-made and hard-to-find. You find a lot of these dolls, but not a lot of their furniture. Feel free to ask any questions before bidding.
