Antique Wardrobe or Traveling Wardrobe Trunk. Circa 1900s-1930s in excellent condition. American company, Lutz& Company of Washington, DC. Opens to wardrobe on left and drawers on right. On lower left is a case for shoes or other accessories. Top right drawer is divided into 3 sections with a lock(don't have the key) Bottom drawer is a hat drawer. There are 5 long hangers and 2 short hangers. There is an horizontal presser bar to hold items in place. Hangers are on chrome rods that telescope out, allowing the clothing to not be pressed so tightly when trunk is open. There is a Locking Bar on the right to hold the drawers closed while in transit. When on end, the top, which opens upward, is slightly domed. Leather handle on right end is no longer functional. All metal hardware is in place and the outside lock has a functional KEY. ... moreThe outside seems to be made of wood, which has some cracking, mostly the right domed end(see photo) The stains on the outside come out for a brief time with oiling. Would be beautiful if redone. Item has been used for the last 35 years as storage or as furniture. Also included in the 2nd drawer is a drawstring bag made of the same material as the lining in the interior of the trunk. Overall dimensions: 40" long x 20 1/2" high x 21" deep. Antique Vintage Chest Steamer Trunk Leather *Local Pick-up ONLY!
I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live. What an amazing estate find! Atkinson& Long mfg co. from Petersburg Va made this trunk. Overall trunk is in amazing condition for it's age. Comes with original hangers and material. it doesnt look like anything has been changed out. Trunk lock is bent so it would have to be fixed to close it fully. If you have any questions let me know. Vintage 1800's Steel Distressed Extruded Travel Trunk Suitcase Antique Decor OLD
Payment by palpal only. An Old Rare"TWO BROTHERS' or Jones Brothers Steel Suitcase/Trunk. This piece was made in England in about 1880 give or take a decade. Antiques just don't get much more rustic than this old trunk. We have had the trunk for more than 15 years& used it to store Xmas decorations. I decided that I was getting too old to tote an 18 1/2 lb storage box. A plastic tub works great. It is about 28 1/2' X 16' X 9 1/2' as stated weights 18 lbs 8 oz. You had better be in good condition to fill this old trunk with clothing. There was a long walk from the coach to the pier. The 6 studs on the top serve 3 or 4 function. Stability. Decoration, to discourage people from setting on the trunk& I saw this in an old ad on the net) to turn the trunk on the top& with a rope on the handle to pull the trunk ... moreon smooth surfaces. And it was extruded in the irregular pattern for strength& eye appeal. But I could not find another case like this one. Note the damage to the corner pointed out in the 3rd picture. This does not not take anything away from the eye appeal of the trunk. The bottom outside has a lot of surface rust& the bottom inside some surface rust. And some rust throughout the piece. But its still good for another 100 years if kept dry. The lock should work with the right key. Or you can put a padlock on it as intended. And as shown it is banged up here& there. But it outta be seeing as it is 130+ years old& was meant to be used. Refer to Images for further details It will be boxed& protected for its next journey. THANK YOU! Vintage Antique US Army Converted Military Coffee Table Trunk With Legs Brass
Vintage. Circa 1949, US military trunk with attached legs. The primitive look trunk has an old top coat paint that was sealed with several coats of varnish, including the interior. The trunk measures about 32" long x 16 1/2" deep x 18" tall, 13 1/2" tall without legs. The lid of the trunk has a brass label that reads; 1949, Doehler Metal Products Corp, NY. The four painted new legs were attached to the trunk by new metal screw-on plates. The legs could be removed if desired(will be removed for shipping) The original locking hasp is missing. The original metal handles on each side are present. A new brass chain was added to lid to hold in place when open. Very cool and unique coffee or end table conversion. Trunk Description: Approximate measurements: 30” wide. 15” tall, 15” deep. A travel trunk manufactured and labeled by Louis Vuitton of Paris. France, circa early 1900's. A leather covered trunk with leather corner bindings and brass latches, lock, and rivets. The trunk serial number is 181974, stamped on the inside lining next to the label as typical. The Louis Vuitton signature style label, showing the Paris and London retail addresses, is in very good condition. The trunk was made sometime between about 1910 to 1930 based on the serial number, but only the Louis Vuitton company has the records which can identify the actual age of the trunk. The brown leather covering shows typical signs of aging and wear, and there is a small piece missing on the front of the lid. The leather corner binding is in good condition with some rubbed spots. ... moreThe center leather tie-down strap is missing, but the leather strap holders are present except the one over the lock. The two side handles are missing and the rivcts for the handles holders are present. There are several partial paper travel stickers on the trunk which do not add any specific history for the trunk. The interior lift out trays are missing as well as the lower divider pieces which are removable. The lining is in fair to good condition with some small stains and small tears. The leather on the bottom of the trunk is aged and cracked, but present and the three wood slats are all marked with the name and have the original iron rollers. This trunk was advertised by Louis Vuitton as a flat top“Boot and Shoe Trunk” according to descriptions from early Louis Vuitton catalogs. Sizes of these trunks varied a little over the years. But this style and size indicate it was a Ladies Boot and Shoe Trunk. This is a very unique hand-carved piece with grape vines and flowers. The age is unknown but by the looks of the wood it's mid-century. It measures 29" long by 18" wide by 16 1/2" tall and the wood is actually 7/8" thick. There is some slight wear in spots around the edges and some very small chips and imperfections but over all the piece is in very good vintage condition. It is pine wood and weighs about 35 pounds. Antique Late 1800's Traveling Steamer Trunk Vintage Flat Top Steampunk Cunard
Here is an amazing piece of history. This vintage travel trunk has seen many places such as Paris as you can see from all the vintage stickers on it. This was even on a Cunard cruise. It's 32"x19"x21" The lock does not work but the claps still hold the lid down well. It has the interior trays for clothes and other items. The paper inside is coming off the inside but it's still there is you want to restore it. The thick leather straps are in excellent condition for their age and carry well. This trunk is over 100 years old so it does have wear and tear over the years but that just adds to the character of it. It also has small casters on the bottom for easy transport. Vintage/Antique wardrobe steamer trunk dark green exterior blue interior. Exterior- Scuffs and scratches visible are typical of its use over the years. Some light rust noted to brass parts visible in photos. No structural damage as far as dents or holes. Aligns properly closes tight and locks. The two original keys are included fits exterior lock and interior drawer lock. There appears to have been a large label of some sort removed from the top of the trunk(top meaning trunk standing in position to open) This has left behind a dull spot on the finish. Leather handle is in place but has deteriorated and is broken. The broken portion is under the metal clamp and is not visible. The brake in the leather is hidden leaving the handle the ability to serve esthetical purposes. Interior- left side- Top lifts up. Curtain folds back to three wooden ... morehangers on an extendable rack. Midway an adjustable bar is designed to hold hanging clothes in place while trunk is in transit. Located at the bottom is a vinyl flap with three snaps. It attaches in the back and snaps in in the front, great for shoe storage. Right side- Four pull out drawers. The drawers operate properly alight we'll and have no structural damage. On the outside portion of some of the lowers drawers some of the finish is pealing. This is not visible unless you remove the drawer and turn it around to inspect the portion that faces the inside of the cabinet. The interior of the drawers(where clothes touch drawer) is intact. The top drawer has an operational lock. Original key included. A metal bar is attached to the trunk behind the drawers. It runs vertical the length of the drawers. I believe it's purpose is to lock the other drawers when the top drawer is locked. I am not sure how it works to determine if it is functional. Questions please message me. Thanks for looking. Leather Trunk Car Storage Brass Label ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Offered is a great antique leather trunk made by the W.W. Winship Co. of Boston. Mass. W.W. Winship is an early company established in the 1700's and that manufactured trunks. They joined forces in 1776 with the London Harness Company. I am not sure about the exact age of this trunk. I believe this is a trunk designed to be used in a wagon/coach or an early car. It has leather bindings which appear to be for strapping it into a vehicle. the straps would slip thru the bindings) There are wooden boards on the bottom to protect the trunk so I would say it is well constructed. It has what I believe is a linen lining which is very securely ... moreattached to the leather. It has a nice lock on the front but there is no key. There are 2 leather handles on each end of the trunk for carrying and these are in very nice condition. On the front is the brass plague/label for W.W. Winship of Boston. Mass. Please refer to photo# 5. The trunk measures about 29 1/2 inches side to side across the outside edges and it is 15 1/2 inches front to back. It measures 12 1/2 inches top to bottom. It is in good condition but not perfect. It does have some wear to the surface as can be seen in the photos and also to the edges/corners of the lid from use. As mentioned there is no key to the lock. The leather is somewhat stiff from age as might be expected. It has been lightly cleaned with saddle soap but could probably use more and a leather conditioner would help to soften the leather. Overall. Considering the age it is in very nice condition. Up for purchase is this CIRCA 1920 Hartmann Cushion Top Steamer Trunk. The piece measures 40.5 x 21.5 x 15. As you can see on one side there are 4 Drawers and on the other one small suitcase on the bottom from where you would hang your cloths. There are no locks with this trunk, I do have the hardware piece to install the main lock if at some point you wanted to change the lock. This piece appears to have been repainted with the red and the art deco look on the drawers which was very well done. This piece was used as a decorative piece in a master bathroom from a local estate. The latches shut tight as they should. The piece has the patina one would expect from a steamer trunk from this era, has dings, dents scratches, scuffs, and the metal has the aged patina look. I have taken many pictures for your review. I have not attempted to clean ... moreup other than to run a damp cloths over the piece to clean off the dust. This is a neat display piece which could many used for many different things such as a coffee table, bathroom towel holder etc. I would prefer local pick up but if you want it shipped and are willing to make all the arrangements and schedule the pick up I will protect for shipment and help load.You would be 100% responsible for making all the arrangements. Not sure of age or origin of this truck. But looks too be pretty old. Close look at carvings and some imperfections can bee seen, so i believe hand carved. Looks too have been painted an off white and then a dark stain over it in the past. Quite a few nicks and scuffs reveal this history of paint and stain. Back has a split and a piece missing from a previous repair. Some screws on the hinges look too be old flat heads and some are newer phillips heads. Has oblong round ball legs. Lid does not completely close, has a quarter inch gap in front, maybe from warping from age. Inside has removable tray insert. Wood has a strong, but pleasant smell almost like cedar, but not sure what type of wood it is. Trunk measures 30 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches tall, 16 inches deep. Please study pics too see imperfections in the piece. Could use a good cleaning ... moreand some stain touch ups. Trunk is very heavy and large, and i will keep at local pick up. Thank you for looking at another one of my AUCTIONS! This early 1900’s. 1930-40, hand-made CLOWN COSTUME. I believe the fabric is cotton. There are no tags on this costume. Stitching looks to be hand sewn. Overall the costume is in good wearable condition. This costume was found in an early 1930’s travel trunk used by a stage performer along with several costumes and evening dresses. I also posted picture of the truck to validate the story. Measurements were taken with garment lying flat. Please measure an actual garment that fits you well and compare the measurements for the best fit. Leg length from waist to ankle is 48" See picture. Asheville Embossed Silver Dome Trunk 1900-1930 This is an attractive medium-sized trunk from the early 20th century. A solidly constructed dome steamer made of wood, trimmed with embossed silver tin, and featuring a lid with only a slight arc. It’s 30.5 inches wide, 16.5 inches front to back, and 19.5 inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with fluted hardwood slats across the top. Front and back. The sides also have exposed a refinished wood. It has been restored with thick black leather handles and a new lid stay to hold it open– otherwise the trunk and all of its appointments are in their original condition. A unique feature is the large original lithograph of an Indian maiden in a canoe that covers the entire inside lid. Which was preserved in the restoration. Although there is no ... moreevidence of its manufacturer. It was purchased at an estate sale in Asheville, N.C. and its design and appointments mirror those of trunks produced between 1900 and the 1930s. The bottom. Which has its original working rollers, has been cleaned, painted, and sealed with polyurethane so it safely sits on floors or carpets. The trunk is solid and clean and has absolutely no stale or musty odors. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed, yet opens easily. Although there is no key, the lock appears to be in working condition if the buyer chooses to fit it with a locksmith reproduction. The inside has been cleaned. Sanded, and finished with tung oil so it’s ready for use as storage or display. It features the original removable tray, which has also been refinished with tung oil.
