But I am having a really hard time deciphering it, it appears to be someone's name and then a place in New York. The trunk does have railroad transportation labels on both sides of the trunk. The trunk does have some wear as you can see, original front lock hardware is missing and it does have surface loss. Some of the paint has alligatored a bit on the sides as you can see from the photos. Trunk measures 35.25 inches wide by 17.25 inches deep by 17 inches tall. It has labels for New York Central Railroad and Westcott express one side and the other side has a very partial label and from what I can tell it is in French. The front of the trunk may read Hauve(France)New York. I think this is a really nice piece, I think it has a good folk art look to it and great to find it with original green paint. Old / Antique / Vintage - Laub's Luggage WWII Nurse's Wardrobe Steamer Trunk
This trunk was bought about 20 years ago from someone who stated it had been purchased from an Estate. They were told that it had belonged to a World War II Nurse who took it overseas with her during her service time. We have no idea who this woman was other than the initials on the trunk"M.A.B. How great if a family member saw this ad and brought it home! This charming old wardrobe trunk is a LAUB'S LUGGAGE Baggage Builders brand. Manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky. It is in good condition inside and outside, with obvious age related scars but no major flaws. It can be used flat for a coffee table or upright to store items in the four drawers of various sizes. It also still has the original wooden clothing hangers on the left side and looks awesome decorating an old-fashioned bedroom with vintage style clothes hanging inside. ... moreThe outside is black in color and the inside is a medium blue. The long side is flat but when standing upright. The top end has a slight curvature design& this end also opens for easy access to the clothing hangers. The Laub Brothers were trunk makers from around the 1860's through probably the 1920's and possibly as late as the 1930's. They had two stores located at 422 West Jefferson Street and 516 South Fourth Street in Louisville. Kentucky. I believe this particular trunk was probably manufactured towards the end of this company's history so early 1900's. A 1926 advertisement read"Buy Laub's trunks first because Laub's trunks last" they certainly did! The trunk opens/closes well& is quite sturdy- has been stored in a dry. Safe& clean environment since we've had it. Size is approximately 40" on the longest side& the other two dimensions are approximately 22" each. There is no key& the lock would need repair. But nothing else appears to be missing. The metal hinges& latches all work& the leather handle is intact. Contact us with any questions. PayPal payment must be received prior to local pick-up.

Old Antique Vintage Circa 1930 Laub Luggage WWII Nurse's Wardrobe Steamer Trunk
This charming trunk(circa 1930) was bought about 20 years ago from someone who stated it had been purchased from an Estate. They were told that it had belonged to a World War II Nurse who took it overseas with her during her service time. We have no idea who this woman was other than the initials on the trunk"M.A.B. How great if a family member saw this ad& brought it home! This old Wardrobe Trunk(also known as" Traveling Wardrobe" is a LAUB'S LUGGAGE Baggage Builders brand. Manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky. Its heavy& well made, in very good condition inside& outside, with obvious age related scars, but no major flaws. Experts state these style trunks have seen a popularity surge in the past few years. While it was originally designed to stand on end for easy access. It can be used flat for a coffee table ... moreor upright to store items in the four drawers of various sizes. It also still has the original wooden clothing hangers on the left side(in excellent condition) on an extending chrome rod& it even has the extra cover that snaps over the lower section for shoes&or valuables. One of the hangers looks like a boat anchor& is sometimes referred to as a"Princess" hanger. But both men& women used these because their purpose was to keep something like a jacket in place during transit, as to prevent wrinkles. Because these trunks look awesome opened. In an old-fashioned bedroom with vintage style clothes hanging inside, they are mostly used for decorative purposes; however they also offer useful storage space since they're very roomy. The outside is black in color& the inside is a medium blue. The long side is flat but when standing upright. The top end has a slight curvature design& this end also opens to make it easier to use the clothing hangers. A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made. And equipped with beautiful oak slats and ball castors on the bottom end. This fine trunk is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made in the same style of the famous much more expensive ones. It measures 46" x 23" x 25" The same or better quality as the French examples. I recommend Uship or Plycon for shipping from postal code 13066. Weight about 125 lbs.

Antique John T. Barnum Dome Top Wardrobe Trunk Vintage Rare 1906
We have here a nice and rare antique wardrobe trunk. This trunk was manufactured by the Barnum Trunk Company in 1906(no affiliation to P.T. Barnum) The trunk is what you would have seen your typical wealthy traveler use at the turn of the twentieth century. A little research on the internet yielded the following information: John T. Barnum was born in Rochester. NY on March 5, 1857. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic in Troy. NY in 1879 He moved to Minneapolis. MN in 1880 and began working for D.D. Whitney, founder of the original trunk factory in 1872 In September 1880. Barnum and a colleague, Mr. Goodrich, took possession of the company from the ailing Mr. Whitney The Barnum Trunk Company was incorporated in 1905 This trunk is a dome top trunk measuring 53" high. 22" wide and 21" deep. It has a swing out drawer section ... moreand a roll out clothes rack. Both the trunk and the rack have the Barnum plaques on them from Minneapolis, MN. On the bottom of the rack the stamp reads Pat. Feb. 20, 1906. I have 33 photos of the trunk, if you are interested in seeing them send me a message with your email and I can send the rest of them. The photos show the condition of the trunk. At some point, the trunk was painted the oil-based blue shown in the photos. There are some original hangers and straps on in the trunk also. The only major problems I see are the missing leather handles, one wooded wheel is missing from the roll out rack and the key is missing. Keep in mind this item is over 100 years old, and it likely did a lot of travelling, so it's not perfect. I'm basing my price on a couple different Barnum trunks I've seen sell on the internet. I am selling off some of my mom's large doll collection and this is a cute little doll trunk that could use some TLC. It's about 13" tall. 7" wide and 7" across. It has brass hinges, fasteners and corner pieces, it also has green metal trim along the edges. The outside is a red pattern-I think it looks like paper or leather over wood. The inside seems to be covered with a red patterned paper. There is a hole cut out of the back. It looks to me like it's been exposed to water, the back seems a bit warped. I am selling some of my mom's large collection. And this cute little doll trunk looks like it's seen some rough travels. It appears to be metal over wood, and it looks like it might have been lying in water-the back is kind of rusted and warped and the inside back looks water stained. The inside front is still lined with a red flowered paper. It has brass hardware, although the back hinges are broken, so the two halves come apart. It has black metal trim along the edges. it's 14.5" tall, 7.5" deep and 8" wide. Could be a nice addition to your collection with some TLC. Incredible antique steamer wardrobe trunk in very good condition considering its age. Many of the vintage stickers have faded but you can see in one photo there is one that shows a date of 1936. The trunk measures 22.25 x 22 x 40 inches on the outside. Opens standing up and has one side with a hanging wardrobe(total 6 hangers. 3 for pants and 3 for shirts or jackets) The other side is a chest of four drawers in varied sizes- the top has a divided compartment. Antique/ vintage 1926 Kewty doll in trunk .
This doll was given to my mother in 1926. The date is hand written on the inside of the trunk. My grandmother dated everthing! The Trunk and Doll are in very good condition with little wear considering it's age. There is a small crack under one of her eyes. But the eyes still open and close freely. There are no other cracks or chips on the doll. The trunk still has the clasp to close it, with the carry handle on top all the corners still have the metal pieces to protect the corners from damage. Both drawers are there along with the original cardboard coat hangers. She has PJ's. robe, winter coat with matching hat. A summer dress with hat, sun suit set, pink dress, green dress, pink coat and hat. and a summer green and yellow dress with matching hat. She also has one pair of socks and two pairs of shoes. Here we have an old Trunk or Armoire meant for travel and has a label on it with a picture of an indian head that states: Genuine National Vulcanized Trunk Fibre. This trunk stands on end as you can see in the pictures and has 5 drawers on 1 side and a place to hang your slacks and what not on the left.The bars pull out and the top opens up on the left to make it easier to access.Please note that there is no key with this trunk.This measures when closed about 22 1/2" X 28" X 41" High and when opened up it measures about 45" wide.I have never seen a trunk like this before.This is for local pickup only and delivery could be arranged for a fee.

This Antique Winship and Sons Co. of Utica N.Y. Wardrobe Steamer Trunk. Winship Co. was one of the best trunk makers of the day. Trunk is in good shape and still has a few of the original wooden clothes hangers and all of the storage drawers. This is a quality built traveling trunk that will not disappoint. The trunk does show a little damage on the floor of the wardrobe section. Measures: all closed and latched- 44" tall x 25"wide x 23" deep PLENTY OF PERSONALITY& HISTORY This trunk has even sailed on the White Star Line from back in the day. unfortunately you can't make out the date on the sticker. Large Vintage Antique Primitive Oak Travel Steamer Stage Coach Trunk 5' Long
Super Large Victorian Stage Coach Steamer Trunk circa 1880-1900. Measures 5 ft long x 2 feet wide and 1'11" tall. It is great shape for its age. It is missing a leather strap on one end and has a ding in the side. But the inside is in pristine condition with all original parts still there. It opens from the top as you can see in the pictures which makes it unique. I have only found one similar to this on the internet auction site and was glad to find a smile bit of information. Vintage Industrial Antique Dome Top Camelback Victorian Steamer Trunk Footlocker
This old steamer trunk has plenty of character on the outside and a nice interior. There is a large white paint stain down the front. The leather handles are broken, it is missing a stamped metal flourish, and there is general patina of age and wear and tear. That said, though, there is a beautiful hunting scene inside the lid and an interior that is surprisingly nice in relation to the outside. There are still some rips and splits in the interior lining, but it is almost entirely there. There is some mothball odor, but not unpleasant. The trunk measures 32 1/2" L x 16" W x 18" H. The trunk is 30 1/2" x 15" inside, with slats along either end to support a tray(not included) It measures 12 1/2" to the lip of the opening inside with 4 1/2" of clearance under the lid. Vintage Antique Wooden flat top steamer trunk. It measures more than 34" in length by just over 18" wide and a little more than 21" height and weighs almost 35 lbs. This MidCentury trunk is a stained with dark mahogany stain color and is very sturdy and usable. The Corners are coupled with heavy aluminum edges. and there are typical dings and dents. Scratches and scuffs due to age and use. There is little to no musty smell, at least is not saturated with odor/scent- will spray with Apple Cider vinegar to help neutralize naturally. Not sure of what type of wood- but there are additional carved wood bumpers on outer sides this Shabby Cottage Chic piece~ This trunk is antique and old- and has original small cast-steel wheels. All 4 are present and rolls fine. One hinge that is strong and holds up fine. This old trunk has a leather ... morehandle on right- still usable. left handle is missing and one of the flat top leather straps is split- all others tacked down and seem sturdy enough to use- though you can determine leather condition- Please LOOK at Photos to consider condition. Tons of photos were taken- so if you need to see more- send a message. All the original hardware on this old trunk that it's fairly good working order- center latch does not lock or click closed and one clip closes better than the other. Needs adjustment as desired. The lid to closed compartment of top tray is cracked/crushed a little on the inside/underside of lid. This could be easily repaired. Vintage / Antique 1800's STEAMER CHEST TRUNK XCLNT COND:TRAY, WORKING LOCK & KEY
This 1800's clean steamer trunk is in(my assessment) is in Excellent Original Condition. INTERIOR: The trunk is made of solid wood. The interior is fully lined with a paper liner. The paper is a striped pattern. I have included a close up photograph of the lined paper. I consider the quality to be excellent. I can provide additional close up photographs as requested. EXTERIOR: Dimensions: 39" L x 24.25" W X 22.24" H The sides are a brown metal with wooden slats and really nice brass with the brass round accents. The leather handles on each end are in excellent condition. There are two latches also in excellent condition in addition to the central lock with key. The leather straps around the trunk could be refurbished. RIght now the are excellent on the top. But note they are torn and not able to fasten. I can provide close-up ... morephotographs as needed, just ask me. I was only able to load 12 pictures here. LOCK& KEY: I have the key which works to unlock the lock. I have included a photograph of the key.There is slight bend in the metal on the lock so you do need to jiggle it to open. The bottom line though is. The trunk locks and unlocks with the key. I like the key because of the heart shape. TRAY: It has the original tray and the tray has the original top. Both tray and top are lined with the same paper as the trunk. The removable tray sits in the top portion of the trunk. In the photographs below I have included a photograph with the tray outside of the box on the carpet with the top on. I have also included photographs of the tray inside to box. One of the photographs is of the tray inside the box with the top folded over so that you can see half of the tray's contents. The other photograph is of the tray inside the box with the top removed. PERSONAL ASSESSMENT: With my own research(I am NOT an expert) I estimate this trunk to be approximately made circa 1872 based on these three facts: 1. Vintage Antique COPPER Humpback Steamer Dome Top Trunk
I have up for sale a unique and wonderful vintage Copper Covered Humpback Steamer Trunk- yes you are reading this right- copper covered. First time in nearly 30 years of dealing that I have seen a humpback made with copper. It comes from the estate of an elder pair of local collector's. They had a small private museum and this was one of the items in the museum. The trunk weighs approx 33 lbs as you see it. Measures approx 26" long x 19" tall, and 15" deep. It has wood slates, a copper covered body, and brass latches and brass handles on the sides. I estimate the age to be from the early 1900s to 1940s. The trunk is in very good overall condition! The copper has some age and use wear. Looks as though it was polished way back when and has now darkened and tarnished over. The interior looks as though it was redone somewhere ... moredown the line. This is a good solid piece, not too big not too small, nice and sturdy, very unusual with the copper covering. I will package with great care and ship fully insured. Always keep all boxes and all packaging materials in the rare event you have to issue an insurance claim. If you do not keep the materials. You put yourself at risk of not being able to get anything refunded. Vintage 1950's Hand Carved Chinese Camphor Wood Full Sized Dowry Chest Trunk Measures: 39 1/2" L x 21" W x 23" H Inside measures: 14"deep x 19"w x 37 1/2" L Sliding Drawer: 14" x 18" x 2" deep Inside there is a 1/2" rail for the drawer This lovely hand carved relief dowry trunk or chest is larger than most you'll find. With or out without adding a glass top it can also make a wonderful coffee or cocktail table. The detail illustrates traditional palace garden scenes. Similar to an American cedar chest it is made of Camphor wood- typical of most of these types of Chinese chests and repels insects. The finish is in excellent condition. This trunk comes with all original components: padlock. Key, and sliding interior drawer- no repairs have been made. Antique Steamer Trunk Chest Dome/Flat Top Vintage original never restored 1800's
Antique Steamer Trunk. Dome/Flat Top, 100+ years old, original never restored This antique Steamer Trunk is commonly referred to as either a“Dome-Top” or“Flat-Top” It has the rounded front and back edges. It is tin covered with wooden bands. The interior has the original tray. Covered compartments and graphics. The hook that holds the tray up is still intact and holds the tray up and out of the way just fine. The pins that hold the tray in place allowing it to swivel up are also fully intact and working. The graphics have amazingly bright vivid colors and are in pretty good shape considering it is over 100 years old. This trunk has small metal wheels on the bottom for easy transportation. As seen in the pictures. They are a little rusty, but the wheels turn remarkably smooth and freely. The leather strap handles have broken off. But the hardware ... morethat holds them is still intact. Through the years, it has developed mild mildew and rust. please refer to the pictures as full disclosure of the condition) I don’t know the year of this trunk but through research and family history I am guessing it to be from the late 1800’s. My great grandmother was born in 1865. My mother’s family immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1881. My grandmother was born in 1895. My mother was born in 1925. This trunk has been handed down through the generations. My mother knew my grandmother had it. However I don’t know who had it first, my great grandma or grandma. Is it possible it came from Germany and was brought to the United States when they immigrated? One can only imagine the history behind this trunk and where it’s been. Written on the side" James Brown Wade Park Manor Cleveland Ohio" This was a very upscale residential hotel in the 1920's. Many famous people had stayed there such as Eleanor Roosevelt. Could this have belonged to the famous singer James brown? The case has a lot of wear and some damage. There are scuffs, wear to the leather, the handle has damage and the inside has stains and mold.
