For your consideration.An Antique and very Vintage entirely leather,and leather cornered) suitcase and or as once called, motoring trunk"Determined age is most likely from between 1920- 1950.It has much character, and functions as originally intended, minus the key for the brass push lock.Obviously well made enough to last till this day,it is all leather including all 8 corners.The lock, buckles,snaps, and rivets are all brass, or brass plated.There is a detailed border striping around the top and each side, and the liner inside is still intact.The stitching is very heavy and I do not see one area on the entire item that has unraveled.Upon searching the in& outside, I was only able to come up with 3 identifiable marks.The latches on each end are made by Corbin, the lock has the letter"A" just above the key hole, and the ... morenumber 8 is embossed into the leather on the rear panel.A name and address from the previous owner is written in ink on the left rear corner,which has only a route& box listed, no street address.Item came from a rural area.No cleaning has taken place on this item,only wiped down to remove surface dust, and swept nicely on the inside.There is one strip of leather& buckle for the inside top panel that is missing,and the outside belt on the left front side is worn, almost detached. This is a heavy duty gauge steel trunk with an all metal body including the metal bottom and with the wooden inside. It measures approximately 32" x 8" x 10 1/4" tall and that's not measuring the handles. It was very well built it weights about 18 lbs and 10 oz. There are no markings on it who made it. I don't know the age of it. If any one who knows about these can share more info with me about this item, I would greatly appreciate it. Black paint is chippy with some rust showing through especially on the bottom but there seem to be no holes and etc. It can be used for different things including to store carpenter tools as can be seen on pics. Here is a large Brass skeleton key. Probably a church key or possibly a trunk. Or large door key. This key is hand-made and dates from the late 1700s to mid 1800s, possibly older. The key measures approximately 3" long, the handle 1 1/2" and features a very intricate bit shape and a heart shaped cut out made out of solid brass. Vintage Antique National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Trunk For Sale (1890-1930s)
This is a wardrobe trunk that has been stored in our attic for more than 20 years. It was made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Co. We do not know exactly what year it was made but by doing some research we found that these trunks were made anywhere from 1890 to around the 1940s. The inside of the trunk is in excellent condition and the outside does show wear. But it is extremely old. The lock on the trunk no longer works because we didn't have a key and we had to pry the lock off. It didn't do any damage to the trunk itself and the lock still is intact, just not usable. The clasps on the outside both work and will secure the trunk closed. All the drawers on the inside are original and have no damage. The leather handle on the side is still intact and handled carrying the 75 pound trunk. The trunk has been closed the entire time in ... morethe attic and kept ALL mice and animals out. This is a very unusual antique or vintage hinged case from Walt Disney Productions(WDP) Here are the details: 1) measures 7 3/4" wide x 7 1/4" high x 3 1/2" deep 2) constructed of light green board-like material with white vinyl( stitched on edging 3) white plastic handle 4) metal hinges at bottom and working latch at top. Vintage MADLER KOFFER Steamer Trunk German. Circa 1914 DESCRIPTION: A World War I era steamer trunk manufactured by a company that is considered to be the German Louis Vuitton when it comes to quality of workmanship. Moritz Madler Co. of Leipzig. Germany was the largest trunk maker in Germany and patented this trunk style with the narrow wood slats and canvas covered wood body. 39" x 22" x 18. Has the owner's initials, H.B.G. printed on the top. Exterior is varnished canvas with a great patina. Interior is white canvas, all intact. Four canvas straps have MADLER embroidered on them. Corners have brackets for an interior shelf(not present) CONDITION: Please see photographs. I actually salvaged this one last week from the side of the road. It had been rained on the night before. So there is some water staining of the interior ... morecanvas, and it has a slightly musty smell that has improved as it's aired out. It's completely dry now. Overall in sturdy shape, r etaining original varnished and painted surface. Framed with original bentwood supports. One leather handle is missing, the other is broken. Slight warp to front and a couple of tears to canvas that don't really take away from the appearance. Looks like someone tried to break into it at some point; the locks are not functional, but may be restorable. Looks like someone must have put on an additional lock(it doesn't show up on the original ads) and that's missing the bottom latch(I would just remove it, but that's up to the winning bidder. Antique CA Taylor Steamer Travel Trunk Vintage 1904
The trunk was my mother's. I'm 66 and it was always in my parents house. I'm not sure who owned it being it was made in 1904. In side there is the certificate showing the manufactured year. see picture) I will ship it in a box within a box and probably have it professionally packed and insured.
