T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. ANTIQUE PAINTED WOODEN CHEST TRUNK VINTAGE ORIENT THEME GREAT HOPE CHEST
This trunk belonged to an aunt of mine who passed away in 1988 at the age of 102 years old. She at the time told of this trunk being in the family when she was a child. This would date this trunk back to the late 1800's at a minimum. Now over the years someone put a hasp on the thing in order to keep it secure(locked) One of the clips that hold the thing shut has the metal clamp or"hook" part missing. I have been told by antique dealers that it is not too hard to find one. The flowers. And birds that are put on it(some form of inlay or type of paint) are quite pretty. The weight of the truck empty is approx 19 pounds. The length is 32 inches. The height is at about 12+ inches, and the width is approx 16 inches. 32 x 16 x 12) It has dust on it and I have since wiped it off. The trunk most likely could be stripped and redone(that ... moreis what the local antique dealer has told me) I was hesitant about selling this at first and then I decided I am getting much older and should sell it so that someone that is able and willing to maybe clean up or restore it can enjoy it. I did take it to the antique dealer here in town and he has about 60,000 SF of commercial floor space and he would try to sell it for me on consignment. He recommended we start the sale off at $300.00, however I am going to start the auction off much lower in order to allow some of you that are like me(don't have a lot of money) to be able to win this auction. Very nice vintage painted raised relief Asian design wood chest. It measures approx. 18" long by 10" wide x 10" deep and weighs over 8 lbs. It has a crack on the lid that goes all the way across and has been repaired with a leather type tape. There is also a crack on the bottom of the chest. But neither of these affect the stability of the chest. There are chips out of the wood on the front where the raised relief is. The hardware may have been replaced at one time, but I'm not positive of that. It does show wear, but overall a great solid chest. I purchased this item at an estate sale and have tried to describe it as best I can. Antique Fancy Painted Blanket Hope Chest Box 2 Board Top 1780 - 1810 Rose-head
Excellent early hand made blanket chest. Circa 1780- 1810. The hope or dower box measures about 45 1/2" long x 27" deep x 24 3/4" tall. The top is constructed of two pine boards. The largest board measures 15 3/4" x 1" The top pine boards are edged with 1" oak. The pine boards have through exposed tenons. The tenons ends can be seen through the oak edging as can hard wood pegs. The pegs are slightly protruding due to age drying. The side boards are constructed with hand cut dovetails. The lid is held in place by two hand wrought hinges and are attached with rose head nails. On both sides of the chest, the front and top lid there are hand painted designs. The designs appear to be a heart with floral patterns. These designs were hand painted with a"heavy loaded" brush and incised giving the appearance ... moreof carvings. The exterior, with the exception of the back, has the original blue/ green dark paint. The interior has the bottom board of the candle till on the left side; other components are missing. Also please note remnants of old paper at the board joints of the top. The lock hasp is present, but the lock is missing. The top lid's paint and designs are very worn due to the common practice of using these chest as seating. The boards of this chest are an early American forest cut due to type of wood used, minimal knots and width. The blanket chest has been lightly hand polished with a paste wax. One bottom board and the bun feet have been replaced at some point. There are three areas of old, inactive, insect damage. Also there are two older glue repairs at the candle till interior area. Solid and strong. I sell all antique furniture as is. Flat rate UPS ground to lower 48 states.

He is not in mint condition, but he looks really great for being as old as he is and as delicate as he is. This material is more like carnival chalk ware than ceramic. It is light and feels very delicate, I believe he is plaster of paris. The main areas of paint wear are shown in the pic. His hand he is calling out with has some slight paint wear. The tip of his peg leg has some too. There is some small area of paint chipped off the back side of his green cape and some small amount chipped at his blue beard. 100 yr. Old Painted Desk We have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. This oak secretary or writing chest is absolutely wonderful and is so much more attractive in person than the pictures. Every authentic antique painted piece of furniture of this nature is original unique and of its own beauty and this one is no exception. Green color is rich and deeper green in person than with camera flash. The green is likely an old oil based enamel or lead paint. The top surface is glared in a couple pictures appearing a different color but it is the same green color as the rest of the cabinet. The paint is not flaking or pealing but is still very strong adhering all over. Loads of character and charm. The whole piece is solid as a brick and not rickety or wobbly. I don't see ... moreany repairs or cracks etc. Typical wear that would be indigenous to this period and stature. I took a close up of damage on interior of the door around the drop hinge arm. Drawers function well and door closes nicely. I particularly like the shaker style going narrower to the floor as seen in the side profile. The detail in curvature of the drawer fronts is unique as well. There has been no back on the cabinet for many years. I have seen hundreds of secretaries in my days but have never seen this particular style before. This little cabinet is simply divine and could be used in so many rooms of a home to suite your taste. Antique-style Wood Chest Box / Painted and Studded / Rural Scene - Cattle Cows
Beautiful wooden chest/ trunk. With decorative studs and a painted rural scene with cattle. The chest measures about 12" x 12" x 10. The front has a clasp and the back has two hinges. The inside of the box is painted black. This appears to be designed to look older and/ or restored. It has an antique/ vintage appearance. But my guess is that it was restored or made to look older. The exact age is unknown. Whether it actually has significant age or was a later project, it is done very well and beautifully! There are some light scuffs throughout the piece and very light. Occasional signs of use. Overall, though, it is in very nice condition.

For your consideration is this Wonderful Hand Painted Tall Chest with 4 Drawers. It’s hand painted with Sailboats on the Drawer Fronts over a White Painted Base. The Chest Measures 12” wide x 13 1/2” deep x 40 1/2” high overall. The drawers measure 6 3/4” x 10 3/4” inside of each. The Back is also finished. Lots of nice detail including inset panel on the Drawer Fronts and Sides. The arch on the Bottom and the overhang Top.
