The case has dovetail construction and exhibits forged hardware with two Flowers craving on the lower apron. A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. Small. Wood, domed doll trunk. It has a metal closure at front that remains but does not lock. The trunk is in well used condition. There are markings on the lock"PA HC" and some indiscernible numbers. Pennsylvania Hardware Company(Late 1700's) The age is approximate. Very useable as a storage trunk for small items or dolls, but also fabulous for a display piece or photo prop. Measures 8.75"D x 21"W x 8.25"H.Circa 1908. The metal strapping has pieces that are broken or missing. Some of the metal details are missing or broken. There are some boards on the bottom of the chest that have been replaced with new wood. Early Hide Bound Trunk or Chest Frontier Era
This is a very attractive early frontier era hide bound trunk of nice size and design. It measures 28 x 14 x 9. Has original brass studs around the edges and a really eye catching oval on the top. It has a flat top. Lock is all there. But no key. Nice handles on the sides and original hinges, not broken or moved. The inside was probably lined with newspaper. It was painted along the way with a light yellow color and straps to prevent the top from falling were added. Looks neat inside, but not original. The bottom has some old writing on it. The strips covering the edge of the hide on the bottom are missing on the ends. The wood under the hide is probably pine. Probably dates to early to mid 19th century.

Wonderful Primitive Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper& Brass Clad Wood Chest/Trunk. This is an all original beautiful piece. It is NOT a reproduction. It is sitting on wooden wheels. It has a hinged lid but one of the hinges has come loose from the lid and the piece of wood it was attached to has broken off. The hinge is still attached to the box. The lid still opens and closes fine and this could probably be repaired. There are some places throughout the box where the copper may be slightly bent. Dented, cracked etc. One of the corners has a piece of the trim that is around the edges that has come off but we do have a piece of it that may be reattached. The top of the lid has a spot where one of the nail holes is open and there is some white"sand" or something that they used to keep the 3D scene from caving in inside. Overall ... moremeasurements are 18 1/4" wide side to side, 11 1/2" front to back, and 13" tall. The scene on the front is four men sitting on benches and upside down barrels. One man standing to the side with what looks like a stein in one hand and a woman peeking out the door of the cottage. There is a cat sitting close by observing the men. The has what looks like men and women. One man looks to be helping a woman up off the ground. The scene on one of the sides is two men sitting inside amongst overturned barrels with bottles. Vases, pots etc in the background on a shelf. One is playing a violin or fiddle and the other is sitting next to him. The scene on the other side shows a man sitting in a chair with another man standing over him in front of him. Maybe he's a doctor or dentist? I can't really tell what he is doing. Old steamer trunk. Original hardware(except for maybe locking clasp-but even this looks old& original) Unit has been painted inside. Well worn and used on the outside, all corners and metal details intact. There are no bottom corners of metal, flat on bottom. Unsure on date and name of manufacturer. Unit measures: 36" wide, 18" deep, 19.5" high, not including the rope handles in measurements. Rope handles. Approx 40lbs, this is for local pickup or you need to send a call tag from UPS or Fedex Ground. I cannot wrap it perse, but I will try to protect it for you the best I can with a layer of cardboard if you want it shipped. This is an outstanding antique from 1835- dated newspaper as lining. This leather covered wood trunk or chest measures 25" by 12" by 10" high. As mentioned it is lined in very old newspaper- all dated around 1835. The overall condition is good for its age: the two iron handles are still in tact. Most of the brass studs are present, the front latch is non functional, the hinges with square nails are fine. It is a very special piece of 19th century history. What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! Is missing one leather handle as well as the recieving end for the lock. Which prevents getting locked out. Wood is beautiful on this piece. Alot of these items are in a marked boxes and have hand writing on the from the old school fountain pens or even quill pens.not real sure. These items were never used and some of them have patent dates from the 1800's. Many pieces are not marked on the item itself at all. Even though these items are N.O.S. some of thes still have patina and some even have some rust from over 100 years of humidity etc. There is so much stuff I do not have the time to clean all of it so a lot of the items will be as found. This dome top camel back steamer trunk circa 1800s has been beautifully restored outside. The interior remains as original. For 40 years at least this trunk has stored extra items in a guest bedroom. The great storage without smells or moisture will be missed. The approximate dimensions are: 30” length. 17” width, 24” height. This trunk has all the original hardware except that one latch is missing the bail. The lock fastens but needs a key. The outside is all original except for the black paint has been redone and the wood and metal cleaned and preserved. The inside tray is missing. This trunk offers great storage and charm.
