Still wrapped and lined with original deer hide lining(you can still see the fur! and 18th century printed wallpapering within! Personalized with metal edges and bosses, forming the initials AT at the top, as shown. With wear and loss to the hide, also the hinges stressed, although the lock components remain present, as shown. Wood slightly warped from age. The paper lining, although chipped and well worn, contains characteristic pre 1800s Fs for the Ss in the text, thus allowing for the possibility that this was in fact a 1700s chest. EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE STAGE COACH WOODEN 2 DRAWER DOME TOP TRUNK/CHEST SOLID WOOD circa 1840's Up for auction is this very rare vintage and authentic STAGE COACH WOODEN 2 DRAWER TRUNK/ CHEST SOLID WOOD with a dome top. It was actually used on a stage coach and in very good condition for its age. Shabby chic rustic and rugged. Made of solid wood and sturdy. On the outside there is a little paint loss on it due to its age. Mostly on the back of the trunk on the bottom. The outside was probably refinished at one point. It was hand or CUSTOM made. Very heavy well made chest. It is solid with no damage to it or its 2 drawers. The drawers are 14 3/4 inches in depth x 20 inches long x 2" wide. In good solid condition. None of the wood shows any sign of damage. Warping or shrinkage. Both drawers open and close easily. ... moreTwo metal knobs are present on each drawer to open them. The previous owner told us that it was checked by an expert and was made sometime during the 1840's and except for one handle on the top. Everything else is original. It looks like it may have been used as a gun/pistol box or a storage box for guns. Its bottom drawer is QUITE UNIQUE. The drawer has seven raised wooden compartments in the color blue. That color blue was not be the original color. TWO of those compartments were designed specifically to fit pistols. The other compartments perhaps to hold ammo and anything else related to pistols or guns. The trunk/chest by design does not have any side handles. Four strips of embossed metal adore its domed top. When you open the trunk/chest it will not remain open unless you put something underneath the top to prevent it from closing. Underneath the lid of the trunk there is a secret compartment. The interior is in very good condition. The inside of the trunk is all natural wood. Very clean with no odors. This is a beautiful wood based velvet and brocade treasure chest trinket jewelry box. It has dainty baroque brocade stripes with velvet(all one material) and is of a cream and light green color with gold accents. It boasts a gold color claw foot base and is lined with a ribbed velvet material top and bottom. It is trimmed inside and out and is very clean. 8w x 5d x 3.5h. It was really hard to get a good picture of the color but it is really a match to all. As it is a crushed velvet that shimmers slightly as you turn the box. Also, the velvet changes colors as you swipe over it so any perceived blemishes are no flaws. The line on the top was from setting another box on top of it for photos but is not permanent. A beautiful piece that I hope you will love.

Painted Dome Top Trunk 1800's or Earlier Wooden Chest Unique Must See
This very old painted dome lid trunk or chest is amazing. Unknown age and origin. But it obviously predates the 1900’s, possibly even the 1800’s. Look closely at the paintings– ornate scrolls, flowers, and a bird on the arched lid; flowers on the right end, and a lovely woman in a garden and a flower filled vase on the front panels. It appears as if this were cut in half at one time long ago. My guess is that it might have been a dowry chest from“the old country” that either was damaged or needed to be reduced in size. Perhaps to transport. Inside the lid is very early wallpaper. I’ve left old newspapers inside as I purchased it– 1930’s papers from Philadelphia. This measures 30” long X 21” wide or deep X 17 ½” to the top of the base and 23” to the top of the arched lid. The left end is painted blue– no decorations– probably missing ... morepart of the original chest. I’ve used this for many years as a decorative piece– the left end against a wall. Up for sale is this antique/ vintage turn of the 19th century flat top steamer trunk with heavy duty ornate hardware in excellent antique condition. This beautiful trunk would make an excellent coffee table. Or would look great at the end of a bed or in the bedroom as a night stand. This VERY sturdy trunk measures approximately 33" long by 19" wide and 18" tall. This trunk shows normal wear from age as pictured, but as you can see this"patina" actually enhances the antique beauty of the piece. 100% Original. Overall it is in good shape. The interior lining is still intact(there are some tears in it) and there are no keys, however a key can easily be made.
