It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. An estate sale find. The chest measures approximately 35-1/2" long by approximately 17-1/2" wide by approximately 18" high. There is some nicks and scuffs here and there. On the top(lid) There is a small piece missing(check pick 10) And there is a few areas where you can see the nail heads. Check picture 11. And on the side(left as you're facing it) there is what looks like a gouge mark. I only took pictures of the areas of the biggest concern. As I said, there are areas here and there all over the trunk or chest that are just nicks, and scuffs, and a little loss of the finish in very small areas. They are not as bad as the areas of concern in the pictures. It has been well used, but it is in very good condition, considering the age. On the bottom there is a small piece of wood missing about 9" long by at its widest ... morepoint 1/4"check pick 6 and 8) As you can see by pick 5 the label on the inside of the lid, tells you about the maker. Only because of its age and use is it being sold AS IS. This will be local pickup only because of the cost of shipping. Which would probably be about half the cost of the chest. Beautiful. Eye-catching conversation piece! Domed"pirate" chest With two locks. This seems like it could have been a money, coin, strong box for a banker or for travel Or simply an immigrant's travel chest. Steamer/ train trunk Handmade with hand-forged nails(the undersides of the nails look like square nails) Leather side strap inside The collector we purchased it from said he believes it to be from the 1800s. However there are no markings so we can't be sure- you be the judge from the photos. Smoke-free home. No musty odors either No original key. But you could add a lock if you'd like The only imperfections(we like to call them"personality traits" are a crack along the inside bottom. Made from tin, the lid has 6 top studs, reinforced corner patches, carrying handles at either end and fab vintage appeal. It has typical Victorian faux wood grain effect on the outside, Dimensions: approx 62cm in Length. 37cm in Width, 34cm in Depth. The trunk also retains its front lock/latch but the key is long gone. Inside is a red`ish colour. And does have surface rust, it displays all the knocks, scuffs and dings commensurate with age. This trunk would add an enormous amount of Old English. Antique 1800's Officer's Campaign Chest Trunk Wood Original Key
This is a beautiful Antique Officers Campaign Trunk Chest. Also described as a Barracks Trunk, these were used to transport officers belongings and personal items. This particular trunk has the officers name inscribed. D. Cutler. It's comes with original key. The original transportation label Inspected are still present. It traveled from Glasgow to Us 1886. Can't quite make out date on label. The finish is original check the detail of the grain or finish, dovetail. Amazing to have found such a great piece of history. Would make a beautiful coffee table, blanket chest. Measures 37" x 21 x 20 The chest can be seen and picked up locally at my shop in Imlay City Michigan. We are between Flint and Port Huron off 169. STUNNING QUARTERSAWN TIGER-OAK CHEST OR TRUNK WITH BRASS. DATED 1877 ~ 1902 ❖ This awesome trunk looks like it may have been a Sea Captains Chest. Or Silver Chest? In any case for something, someone very fine. The hand-engraved monogramed brass plate in the center of the lid is hand engraved with a gorgeous"K" with the dates 1877& 1902. Not sure exactly what that might indicate about this chest. Certainly its all gorgeous. The quarter-sawn Tiger Oak is spectacular. The brass corners appear to me custom or handmade. It's all beautifully put together with lapped rebated joints& inlaid walnut splines inside. This combination of the old solid brass hardware. Clean lines and quartersawn golden-oak give this chest an Arts& Crafts feel. It's a perfect height for a coffee-table or end-table. Condition of this chest is ... morefine to very fine. To my eye. Age-related character marks seem appropriate. The bottom looks like it may have at some point been replaced with laminated plywood, but it looks to be a clean job, all recessed underneath so as not to be visible at all. Might be a screw lost here or there, but nothing problematic that I see, and similar brass screws are available if desired. We've cleaned this piece carefully and rubbed it with fine wax to protect. Measures about 18" high. 28" wide& 20-1/4" deep. We are pleased to offer this very unusual. Old Chinese(late 19th century to early 20th century) hand carved, MASSIVE lidded box or storage/rice bin or chest. This two piece, painted and lacquered box is carved and formed into a beautiful elephant. The elephant has a large trunk with nice details to the face, mouth and ears and eyes. The elephant is cut in half length wise. The top lifts off to reveal a box or storage bin. The bin is finished in an old lacquer. The elephant is colorful. He is painted a golden tan with hints of red and brown underneath. The ears and tongue are red. The inside storage compartments are black lacquer as is the underneath. There are two large nostril holes that once housed ivory tusks which are no longer present. This box is quite unique and most of it was carved from a large, single piece of wood. There are no ... moresegmented or jointed pieces except for the curvature of the trunk and the ears. It is quite an extraordinary and beautiful piece! It is in very good condition with some surface wood splits. The paint has several areas of chipping/peeling which add to the character of the box. It is truly exceptional. The elephant measure 30.5" long and 12.5" wide. The storage bin is 15.75" x 9.5" x 3" interior measurement) The lid also has the same cut out measurements so the bin is actually 6" deep. VINTAGE CARPENTER SEAMAN WOODEN TRUNK CHEST TOOL BOX- HASP w/ NO LOCK An antique wooden carpenters tool box measuring approximately 12" tall x 12" deep x 34-1/2" long. As you can see in the photos it was probably used on a regular basis. Both the top and bottom have been split with the top being repaired on the inside. There is a metal hasp but no lock. Each end has what appears to be a cast iron handle. There are semi-decorative metal corner braces. The box is put together. At least partially, with square nails which can be seen where a portion of the wood molding on the top has broken away over the years. The tool box has its' original finish except where it is worn away. This Hand-crafted Storage Chest has a Mosaic Lid and decorated front panel. It is 20" long across the lid. 10" wide and 10" high. Weighs approximately 9 lbs. There are 4 very small screw holes on the inside of the lid and right upper rim where a bracket once was that was used to prop open the lid. These screw holes are not visible when the lid is closed. This auction is for a vintage Captain Morgan Rum dome-top or round-top chest/trunk. The trunk is about 16.5"L. 15"W, and 16"H. It is made of wood(I believe pine) and has brass corner trim(2 corner trims are missing) It is also missing the latch and hinges. It has sturdy brass handles on the two sides for carrying. The lid is attached to the bottom with a small chain(not sure if this is original or not) Other than the missing hardware. The trunk is in very good condition overall. It does have a few scrapes on the wood(mainly on the bottom, but a few on top and sides) The box is pretty heavy; it weighs over 14 pounds. Nice decorative trunk. It is made of wood and has an overlay of copper or tin woven with thin wood. It also has floral hammered copper/tin trim around the top. It has a hinged lid and metal latch. It measures 12 3/8" tall. 16" across the front, and 9 3/4" front to back. The chest is a little dusty and on one side there is one spot where the tin is split(see close up photo) and another spot where the tin is bent. Civil War Era Leather Deer Hide Skin Travel Trunk Stagecoach Chest Steamer Texas
This is a great old piece of folk art. I bought it from a lady who bought it at an antique store. She told me that it was Civil War era and that it is covered in Deer hide. She said that she lined it with fabric after she bought it. The leather is embossed with what makes me think of a Texas Star. Plus there are other decorative embossed accents. As you can see from the pictures some of the leather has come loose and it is ripped. Some is worn almost to the wood, on the back there are some water drip marks and as you can see plenty of inconsistency in color and wear. I do not know if the sides originally were covered but they are now exposed wood. Amazingly, the leather buckles are still intact and operational but it appears that a latch is missing front center. There are some exposed screws on the back where parts of the leather straps have ... moredeteriorated. A couple of rivets are missing. There be maybe other pieces missing, for example there are no handles on the sides. It opens and closes easily and seems to be a solid and sturdy structure. I think it is a fantastic decorator piece for a home, store or set, as well as a really cool piece of history. I cannot say I've ever seen another like it- especially with the embossed designs on the top. This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. Found this unusual. Beautiful and untouched Leather, Iron and Wooden Victorian Era Dome Style Steamer Trunk at a local sale. A huge trunk measuring 36" wide. 30" tall and 23" deep. Decorated with hand applied tacked leather all around, ornate iron and wood, this trunk was made for folks who traveled far and for many weeks or months at a time. A TRIPLE LOCK system is evident on the front, designed to keep their worldly possessions safe. On each side of the trunk there are remnants of labels that provide a visual history of the famous places that this trunk traveled to. There is a label for a hotel in Paris. A label for a baggage cabin on a Cunard Line steam ship, and most interesting.a label for the St. James Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. The hotel was a popular destination for the wealthy in the 1870's and 1880's and ... moreburned in the Great Fire of 1901.never to be rebuilt. The interior of the trunk is in nice untouched shape for it's age. Inside the lid is a drop down drawer with its original leather and tin clasp for holding it in position. When opened. The inner drawer folds out. Clean and undamaged. The original fabric tray in the lower part of the trunk is there.the wooden frame of the tray is in very good condition, the fabric that acts as the bottom of the tray needs repair. I do not know the age of the painting but it is charming and colorful. On the top of the trunk there is writing in script that says"He who gives a child a treat- makes joy bells ring in heaven's street" The oval with the writing is bordered with flowers and figures. There is a house on the front with a woman and man, a rocking horse on the ends and two angels on the back. Nice painted border around the top and bottom edge. Could have been a tool case, salesman's case, luggage or perhaps used for an instrument or something else. It is marked inside"Case" with no additional clues to its use. The lid slides on over the bottom, and there is a nylon strap and metal buckle that cinches around the case to hold it closed. The case is riveted together and has steel reinforced corners. The handle is plastic. There are no hinges or claps attached to the case. The inside is all open. There are no compartments and it is unlined. Condition: The metal parts have rust. The bottom of the case is torn through(see pictures) the nylon strap is beginning to fray at the end, there is a sticker and sticker glue from an old ... morepiece of tape adhering to the outside and there is faint pink crayon type writing on the lid(also pictured but hard to see) It has scratches, scuffs and the outer layer of material is peeling away in spots. vintage vanity trunk top of dresser flower pattern chest Korle sewing Singer ?
This may have some wear. Dust, please see above for more info about condition of this. This is some sort of storage box, kind of seems like sides are think wood and much of rest of it is more like heavy cardboard or something. This has some wear and discoloring, and it is about 12 3/8 inches across and about 4 1/4 inches high and about 9 3/8 inches deep. This has small wood knob and when you pull it out, little stiff or sticky but has drawer toward bottom and top lid kind of sits down in, kind of have to pull out. This is spotted up inside, some separating and dust inside and then another little container in right corner or more like lid really bit hard to pull out too. The bottom says Korle' designed for better living, chests, cabinets, and closet accessories and then it has little sticker which says Singer so now I wonder if someone ... moreused this for sewing case or something but who know. ANTIQUE DOLL CHEST WOOD DOME TRUNK FOR DOLL CLOTHES
This is old.So there are problems with it.Cracked wood,broken leather straps and some one broke the lock,probably because it was locked.I show picture of all of it.The tray bottom is loose,because there is a piece of wood missing along the side.There is a missing foot rivet,a side rivet,and there is a nail they put in the top,it looks like to hold it down in that area.The paper covering it is missng here and there.It measures 14" long,7 1/4" tall( at center of dome top)and 7 1/2" deep(front toback) On Mar-26-14 at 17:00:28 PDT. Seller added the following information: I had a question about the top.The top edge of the top of the dome does stick out a little bit past the sides of the trunk.It is what I would call a flat dome.
