There is also evidence of past travel stickers pertaining to `Luggage In Advance ` which add to the items authentic charm, Inside is vintage stripe paper lined. Dry but marked. This is an Antique Set of 2 Drop Handles and 1 Hasp(Front Latch) for Trunk or Chest. Salvaged from an old blanket chest These are solid brass. Strong and sturdy They have pretty scalloped edges and delicate engravings Each piece is engraved with a flowering branch in the clutches of a beautiful bird's feet The hasp also bears the image of an eagle on the hinged latch The metal shows its age. Which is why I like them so much. They can give a new piece a little bit of history and a splash of old character. It appears as if someone had stained over this chest. The details throughout are amazing. There is minimal wear present with a few dings present. There are no repairs present. Stunning antique Chinese trunk that was used to transport travelers belongings on ships. Hand painted folk art detail on leather. Brass rivets and copper seams. Pigs skin leather. Trunk is very sturdy and would be useful as a coffee table. Side table next to a bed or in the hallway for shoes and winter clothing. Condition: Inside the trunk is very clean. The outside leather is very worn in some areas and torn in some places. There is one tear in the trunk on the bottom front which does not show too much. The leather on top of the trunk is cracked. It looked like it was used as a witch craft box of sorts from the contents.Dried bugs spiders and powder which have all been disposed of. Antique Vanderman stagecoach/railroad trunk from the late 1800's to early 1900's. The patent date on the tag appears to be 1897. The trunk/Strong box is in original condition and has not been restored. One top board is damaged as shown in photograph. This trunk in solid and in very good condition for its age. Also included is a set of vintage tools to include a large level. A 30 inch block plane, drill bit set with box, saw, wood mallet, axe head, and ammunition belt. Antique French Trunk Storage Chest Raised Metal European
At auction is a very fine old French chest. It has great age. Patina on the metal and wood. It looks to be brass raised and dimpled metal, with different scenes on 4 panels. Inside of the box is 24" long by 18" deep by 13.5" wide Top lid size is 27.5" long by 15 3/4" wide. It has a tag on the under side of the lid that says made in France. There was another tag beside it but part of it is missing. The writing and the ink reenforce its age. I am not positive when it was made. But you can see from the pictures its very old. I havent been able to find anything like it to compare it to. My guess is mid 1800th century to the early 1900s. It has a few small nails missing on the bottom left back corner. Where it had been hit probably while moving it. Metal is all there just needs a few nails. Over all condition is good. ... moreIt has a small piece of wood missing at the top left corner. you can see it in the picture. It was from the nail that holds the corner together. The wood boards in the inside look like the were hand sawed, and have file, rasp marks. You can see it the picture that shows the lid opened. Not positive what the wood is but it looks to be walnut. The bottom and back are bare wood. It has 4 metal wheels on the bottom. This is a great old piece, please look at the pictures good. Any questions email me and I will respond as soon as possible. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Antique Dome Top Child ~ Doll ~ Toy Trunk, Wood Storage Chest, 26x15x14
We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The lock in the ... morecenter is missing the bottom section(the piece mounted on the bottom of the trunk) The trunk could be used"as is" for a primitive decorative piece. Antique Old Chest Dome Trunk (Steamer) w/ Shelf / Embossed Tin (Grecian Design)
Beautiful antique chest/ trunk dating to around 1890. It is slightly domed and ornately decorated with a beautiful Grecian pattern embossed tin. It still has original shelf. Two latches work and hinges are secure and operatable, nice size to compliment a room and to store those living room blankets. It does have its flaws as one would expect. Two castors are missing. Leather handles of course gone and although it still has most functionality, it is old, the wood has aged(crack in top, but still solid as supported by metal, tin and wood support"things" but should be primarily a decorative piece with moderate storage use. Up for auction is truly a great piece of history which could be the talk of the town! This will make a truly unique coffee table or perhaps end up as a historic artifact based on the story it tells. This chest was built in approximately 1870(experts have pinpointed it by the hardware) it made its way into the hands or a Mr. W S H" who was a carpenter. In 1901. Mr. WSH packed his tools up and came to America, landing on Ellis Island. Inside the trunk, affixed to the top are two decals showing the hotels he stayed at and finally, another decal showing the ship's transit with the name of the ship, date of departure and estimated arrival date in New York Harbor. This chest was passed down over and over but it retains many of his original tools. I bought this from a man in his 60's who said his father got it from an old carpenter ... morewho had done work on his house back in the'50s. He said the carpenter asked his dad to store a bunch of his things for him while he went back to visit his country but he never returned. It measures 40" wide by 24" high& 26" deep It is on it's original casters and has the original key which still operates the recessed locking device which was very advanced for its day. It has a very intriguing"6" hand painted on the top as well as the WSH initials and 1901 inside. There are several hand drawn sketches/designs also hand drawn for something he must have been working on at some point. This is for local pick up only. You certainly can make arrangements with any shipper like"PLYCON" who will pick it up. Package it and deliver it to the buyer. Great vintage or antique trunk Not sure of the age. Maker or origin- no maker's markings we could find Lovely metal edges with nail heads. As well as what look like brass corners Leather handles on the sides Dark. Hunter green paint over what seems to be a pressboard or very light wood, possibly pine The chest isn't very heavy for its large size. Which makes it more versatile for you. Would be amazing as a coffee table. End table, blanket chest, hope chest, hallway"tree" bench with storage for shoes or winter clothing. So versatile! Inside has a pastel yellow-ish lime green and white interior You can see the interior is a cover over the wood. Peeled in just a few places, but in very nice shape for its age! Very unusual domed Trunk Treasure Chest that sits on its own metal stand that has paw feet The trunk can remove from stand as shown and be used separately The basic chest is constructed of wood that has been painted however the front and top are encased in sheets of embossed metal. Pictures of angels in a garden setting on each side of the top bands of studded strapping decorate the top of the piece. The metal sheeting has darkened with age it appears it may be copper underneath the patina however we did not clean further but left as it was when purchased at an estate sale The chest is lined in a wine colored plush velvet material in good vintage condition. 1920's chest// steamer trunk/ opens up to clean fresh dravers and mirror
This is my husbands Grandfathers"America" trunk. He owned it in the 1920's but it it probably older. It was made in Columbus, Ohio and has been cared for so it is in amazing shape, clean drawers with no odour at all, so it can actually be used as a chest of drawers, and it has the original mirror, with a secret compartment behind. All it needs for upkeep is wood oil, and even the wrought iron will shine up. It can be used as a sofa table, or as a side table, we put framed family photos on it. All hinges work smoothly, as do the drawers, please see photos. Closed up this chest measures 40" wide x 25 1/2" high x 22.5" deep, and when open it will be 45" high. There is a masonic symbol engraving, WSSTKSHT in a circle. Original wallpaper and leather secretary attache are in great condition for age. Has typical wear for age. As shown, both original handles are present and are all there and functional. Appears to have had some original strapping that is no longer there.
