ANTIQUE LATE 1800'S WOODEN SLAT EXCELSIOR STEAMER TRUNK * NR
Antique late 1800's Excelsior steamer trunk. It is in as found condition from an attic in New Bedford. MA. The trunk is a solid piece made up with slats of wood. The top has a slight dome to it. The top section of the lock is missing but there is no damage to the area, it looks as though someone carefully removed it. There is a missing wheel and some loss to the metal strapping. Please view all photos, as they are showing any losses that I have mentioned. It needs some fixing but the overall condition is quite nice for its age. It measures 30 1/2" long, 18 1/2" wide and 21" tall. Please note that unpacked this piece weighs 46 lbs. Greyhound Express is an additional option for shipping within the Continental US. Overall size: 14" wide x 9" deep x 10" high On the exterior there is some loss and wear to the printed paper here and there. Both leather handles are broken but still there, and the paperboard trim that goes around the lid is detached at one corner. I see some light moisture stains to the paper as well. The wooden slats could use some polish. Overall the condition of the exterior is above average compared to the majority of unrestored trunks like this one. No key for the trunk. And the lid half of the latch doesn't have the part that would attach to the bottom part where you put the key. Inside. The ribbon like support string that holds the trunk upright when open is detached on one end, there is a panel type door missing from the lid, there is a tear to another lid panel, and there is a panel type door missing from the till and the one that is still attached to the lid is loose at the paper hinge. The paper condition inside is decent overall comparatively. Take a good look at the pictures to judge condition for yourself in case I missed something. As asset liquidators. It is green with very nice blue cloth on the inside and has the drop in clothes separator: Usually these are missing and this one is in nice shape. It is 26 inch high- 30 inches long(across side to side) and 22 inches deep(front to back) solid and the bottom is not rusted through at all(in fact in very nice shape) I bought two of these and plan on keeping one of them. Huge and very nice trunk that is black in color and is marked BELBER as the manufacture. The brass colored corners and the latch is marked Corbon Cabinet lock- it is 40 long(side to side) 23 inches high and 22 inches deep(front to back) Overall very cool and has two containers for clothing- one is damaged but both parts are there. It is black paint( that is alligatoring(paint slightly bubbling) but is great and would make a really nice coffee table for your living room! The bottom is not rotting and in fact is in excellent shape(photo shown of the bottom with two wood runners)

RMS Lusitania Cunard Line Antique Steamer Trunk Odd Tray White Star Will Ship
This is a steamer trunk. Circa turn of the century- The incredible part is that it was on the Lusitania! This was found in the attic of an old house in Waterbury. Connecticut. I did a quick search of passenger records to try and match the"H.A.B. initials to a passenger- there were many of them- this trunk most likely came from Sweden as it has a Gothenburg travel sticker. If you are interested in trying to research the original owner. I can provide the winning bidder with the address where it was found and also the name of the previous owner of the house. I have not identified the maker of the trunk. But it does have diamond-shaped logos on the latches. It is shown as found. But I will give the interior a vacuuming on request. One side has a travel sticker for the Lusitania. A Cunard Line sticker and two more Cunard Line checked baggage ... morestickers. The opposite end has a small travel sticker for the White Star Line- it did fall apart a bit. But the other part of the sticker is in a plastic bag in the trunk. The trunk has four small wheels on the bottom. And it does still roll. The tray is also included, and the tray has a very unusual piece in it- a round cloth ball on a housing(about the size of a cantaloupe) and a small steel device. It does have what looks like some grease around the area. I've done a lot of looking. And haven't found a similar one. The trunk is missing some parts of the leather handles and the lock is not working. Both latches function very well. Trunk measurements are 36" by 22"by 24" Shipping weight is 65 pounds. A very unusual trunk. I was able to find only two other trunks from the Lusitania in existence- one is in a museum. Nearly impossible to find another one. I will ship internationally by FedExFreight. Victorian Steamer Trunk 34 x 22.5 H x 19 This is a versatile and attractive true antique from the late 19th century. A medium-sized Victorian steamer trunk made of wood, trimmed with tin and steel hardware, and featuring a flat lid. It’s 34 inches wide and 22.5 inches tall– perfect for a coffee table, lamp table, or bedroom storage. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and around all four sides. The interior has been completely cleaned and refinished with a reproduction Victorian lithograph inside the lid. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. The hasp on the right side does not lock, but does not compromise the closed lid. Although there is no key, the lock appears to be in good working condition and a local locksmith could provide a replacement key, if desired. ... moreThe restoration features new stitched leather handles(mounted with the original end caps) and matching leather belts with brass buckles to replicate the originals. A unique feature is that the belts run through slots in the rails- not over them- providing a flat surface if the trunk should be used as a table. The lock is present but does not work and there is no key. There is one leather strap missing. It does have wheels on the bottom but they may need some cleaning to release their moving parts. Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass USA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. Antique Beautifully Refinished Steamer Trunk Chest w/Straps, Key, and Tray
Beautifully Refinished slight arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key. Straps, Buckles, and Interior Tray Here is a really nice. Beautifully refinished slight arched top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This steamer truck has a very slight factory arch to the top, which may be noticeable in the close up side view picture. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches, from floor to top is 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash outer slat boards. The wood is in nice condition and has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks including some older nicks and dings on the wood along with a few stress cracks. This great trunk has a nice ... moreamount of metal hardware. The metal is not brass and has been brush painted it by hand in black and gold leaf. A nice feature on this trunk is the original lock that does work and has a key. The front latches are also original and in good working condition since the springs are intact. This trunk has a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles running up the front and across the top and part way down the back in the same location where the original ones once were. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. Going to the interior, there is a very nice wood interior and tray, which has been given two coats of polyurethane. This truck would make great lifetime lasting gifts for loved ones on special occasions. It seems to be quite fashionable these days to own one of these forefathers' refinished trunks. This delightful small trunk came to us from an estate auction out in the country. The outside seems all original but long ago the interior was painted in a cream color and handpainted with leaves and flowers. While we like things to be entirely original. This restoration is just right-nothing fake looking about it. My guess is that the cream color was done 60-70 years ago. There is considerable rust on the lock and the outside metal. This is an original Civil War steamer trunk owned by Col. Henrie Crandall from Rhode Island. Makes a nice conversation piece. A piece of History of the Civil War. It does has wear and tear but it is solid. It is in its original condition. Please study the pictures. Col. Crandall was born November 30. 1829 at Voluntown, Ct. From 1860 to 1866 he was Assistant commissary General of the State of Rhode Island. For a period. Under Governor Smith's administration he served as Acting Adjutant general. At the outbreak of the Rebellion he went out as Sergeant in the First Battery. Col. Crandall was Aid on the Staff of both Governor Turner and Governor Smith. Well-cared for, large antique Victorian steamer trunk from the late 1800s.The chest has a domed top, typical of this time period, and has wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim. And leather side handles. Side Leather handles are intact. This wonderful trunk has not been refurbished and is in good condition overall. None of the veneer is missing. The interior’s“restored decopage” illustrated paper lining) has a decorative floral pattern through-out. The intact original trays are all inside and structurally sound. It has 4 compartments. 2 in a removable tray and one large main compartment. The upper tray is constructed of a heavy cardboard type material. The main compartment is accessible by lifting the sides of the top tray. The trunk has the original hardware but the main lock has no key. There are two side clasp closures to the right and left of the center lock. There are 4 small intact wheels on the bottom of the trunk to ease movement. The wheels are in good working order. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this trunk. The interior lining is in restored condition. It is quite lovely with only a tiny 1 inch repairable tear in the decorative paper lining. There are n ice embossed designs on the tin work on sides. Top, front& back. 1800s Antique – Humpback All original Tin Embossed Steamer Trunk with Trays
Up for sale is an 1800's tin embossed humpback trunk with original paper lining in very good shape and all original trays with pictures. All in excellent condition. It is black embossed tin with oak strips. All original ornate hardware. All latches work. But there is no key. One of the straps is broken and needs to be replaced while the other is very fragile. It has a all four wheels on the bottom for ease of moving. It measures 34 inches long x 19 inches wide x 22 inches tall at it's highest point. A wonderful family treasure that I have owned and enjoyed for at least 25 years. This is a nice piece that has no flaws except as mentioned and pictured. More pictures available upon request. Very cool and unique Louis Vuitton auto trunk circa 1910 converted to a console table. Trunk is all original with the original black vuittonite canvas and all brass hardware. These were originally made to be strapped to the back or interior trunk of an early Rolls Royce. Custom base is made of steel and brass. There are several old hotel and shipping labels attached as pictured. Most appear to be from Germany and Italy. The trunk is in average vintage used condition. The oak slats were restored and the canvas was coated with varnish for protection. The interior is original and was only cleaned as was the bottom. A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Original Multi Divided Tray Here is a great refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. We are calling it a flat top although there is a very slight factory arch. These are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some typicl distress marks or character marks. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Just about all of ... morethe trunks that we refinish have some of these older distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We did find a key that will activate the lock mechanism. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass. If they were, we would have semi polished them. Very seldom do you come across an American made trunk that has all brass hardware. The metal parts on this trunk have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This lovely trunk would make a great gift for a loved one on any special occasion. The new owner could store their personal belongings and collectibles inside the trunk and later in life pass it down to the future generations. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining since it was worn out looking. We then have given the interior wood two coats of polyurethane. This trunk come with the original multi divided tray that rests at the top edge. Store items in this tray, then lift it up and put more items deep inside the trunk. Gorgeous ANTIQUE refinished Steamer Trunk Ca. 1890's
Up for auction today we have a recently refinished antique steamer trunk dating to the late 1800's early 1900's. This style trunk is slightly curved at the top. Very slight in fact, and useful as a coffee table, plant stand, side table or even for a printer or other electronics. The original old trunk was found with old dried brown canvas and we carefully removed it- sanded the trunk smooth, and applied natural tung oil, two coats, then a coat of clear shellac. This trunk is gorgeous and is very useful for home or office. The inside has been freshly lined with brand new cotton floral fabric. Here are a few more details: Four slats on the top. Metal hardware on edges of trunk. Brass wash on the metal. With bulbous ends- these were helpful in moving the trunk from side to side. Replaced leather handles with 100 year old endcaps. Floral ... moreprint has ivy green decoration. Three strong back hinges, four original castors(small wheels) on bottom. Measurements: 32 x 21 x 23. Weight: approximately 20 pounds. As with many items over 100 years old. This trunk is not perfect. It had leather straps at one time and when found had gouges where the straps had been.
