Antique 1910 Excelsior Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk (42" X 23") Yellow Brass
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There is 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass ... moreUSA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. Nice Refinished Clinton Brand Flat Top Wall Trunk With Manufacturer's Label. Working Lock& Key, And Interior Tray Here is a very unique refinished patent dated and factory labeled Clinton Wall Trunk. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 33 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This trunk is named a wall trunk since it can be put right up against the wall and the lid can be lifted up without hitting the wall since very little space is needed for it to open properly. Most trunks need to be about three or four inches away from the wall for the lid to be opened. Look at the pictures and we have shown the signed and patent dated hinges. It is signed, Clinton Wall Trunk Mfg Co Clinton Mass Patented Feb 25 1890" We detailed these embossed numbers ... moreand letters with black paint to make them more legible. We are calling this a flat top steamer trunk, although there is a very slight factory arch to the top, noticeable in the side view picture. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in it's natural color which is a tannish brown color. There are a couple of typical stress cracks in the wood. Most all of the trunks that we refinish have one or more stress cracks. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are in place. We have given this trunk a nice older sturdy working lock, signed"Yale" It comes with the proper key so you can lock your personal belongings away from others if you choose to do so. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a nice tray for the interior. It rests at the top edge. You can sort smaller items in this tray, then lift it up and place many more items deep inside the belly of the trunk. We have shown a close up picture of

A chance to own a great piece of history! Up for auction is a Marshall Fields and Company Chicago steamer trunk by Oshkosh. The last patent on the trunk is 1930. The initials L.S. are on the trunk. It aligns when put together and goes together but does lock/shut completely. Possibly some part of brass closure is missing. Does have a slight musty odor. It has all the drawers on the right side of the trunk and has a curtain with an iron on the left side of the trunk. I think something is missing from the bottom left of the trunk, possibly a shoe drawer? It has the Marshall Fields and Oshkosh tags on it. It is brown and there is wear on the outside as it has not been restored. There are some white marks also on outside. Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Angle Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Wall Trunk With Working Lock& Key. Interior Compartment Area. And Interior Tray Here is a very unusual fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. It is unusual in which the top and back and front slat boards are angled at about 45 degrees. We have only had about four of these over the past thirteen years to refinish and that would be out of around 1500 trunks. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. There are some ... moretypical older distress marks on the wood. These character marks include older nicks and dings. Mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards, and there are a couple of stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have these type of markings. This great trunk comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. This trunk maker used a very nice amount of nice hardware on this trunk. A lot of it has embossed patterns to the metal. The front latches are original and they have a big number"3" at the top of them which we have highlighted in black paint. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. The trunk maker also did a good job of running vertical and horizontal outer slat boards on this trunk, especially on the sides. It is not very often that you have two vertical slat boards and a horizontal slat board running on the sides of the trunk. Anyhow, it gives it a nice, unique appearance. The side handles have been replaced with sturdy Amish made black leather stitched straps.

This is an early ca.1880 ladies stagecoach half trunk. Sometimes called a hat trunk. It is embossed leather-covered with hardwood slats with decorative brass buttons. The brass lock mechanism and key are original. The leather front straps and the end leather lifting handles have been replaced. The interior is complete with a lift out tray and a drop down bonnet box with lid and lovely victorian lithograghs. It is 20"x 16"x 19"tall and weighs 30 lbs. This beautiful 1800 rustic antique trunk is in remarkable condition for it's years. Original wooden slats and black metal. The inside has been relined with Victorian paper& metal has been cleaned to restore its Original look. The latch on the inside has been replaced with a new latch(ordered from a trunk store) One piece of hardware is missing from a slate. Which I show in a picture. The bottom is missing a wheel, but trunk is not wobbly. The side leather handles are missing. The trunk measures 34 1/2" height, 24" Long, 18 1/2" Width. It's truly a beautiful antique which can be used as a coffee table or just showing off its rare beauty.

This is an original Civil War steamer trunk owned by Col. Henrie Crandall from Rhode Island. Makes a nice conversation piece. A piece of History of the Civil War. From 1860 to 1866 he was Assistant commissary General of the State of Rhode Island. For a period. Under Governor Smith's administration he served as Acting Adjutant general. The locking mechanism to keep the bottom 3 draws still works. I am not sure if the 2 rods are part of the original truck but were in the box when I picked them up. Antique hump back trunk made exclusively for Mann& Bro. Baltimore(see pic of stencil on bottom of trunk) It is fully restored and in excellent condition. It has fancy and interesting metal and wood trim. No parts are missing and it includes both end handles and the top storage tray, both of which are often either broken or missing in antique trunks. It is of pine construction. It is medium sized. The dimensions are 30" x 15.75" x 15.75" Much better for smaller and medium sized rooms than the common immense full sized trunks. This is an incredible hump back in great condition. love the embossed gold metal sections and look at the inside. looks to be in wonderful condition for its age. small tag reads that it was either made or sold at a store in Romeo. Antique travel chest blanket box steamer trunk vintage wooden banded victorian
An old original fab steamer chest with lots of metal banding and end cap brackets. It is a original steamer chest from circa 1900's and would have been used on the ships of old Metal handles at each side. Front locks and clasps there is no longer any key for the middle lock long gone. Four hardwood slats on top with one at the front and back also. It is approx. half the height of the standard ones. So would be great for any room in the house to make a great look and not take up to much space. The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. It has been around for a hundred years and will come with wear and tear as you would expect which all adds character to these items, But is still a strong fab little chest.
