Nicely decoration antique tin litho box. This piece is made to look like an early steamer trunk. It is made by The Thomas Davidson Mfg. Co. 1894- 1927) they were one of the leading litho advertising tin makers in Montreal of that period. The Tenyo Maru was built in 1908 and was out of service by 1930(being scrapped in 1933) So this trunk is from the 1920s or earlier. Marked with the owner's name. George S. Weld, on both ends. Antique. Steamer Trunk. We found it in the work shop at an estate sale. It was being used for storage of old boy scout memorabilia and old kitchen curtains. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Tray, Lock & Key
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and key and original tray. This is a very nice. Clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish black leather handles and two original latches to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. We also attached a new lock with a working key. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age ... morethere are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Remarkably with this trunk there is the original tray in very nice condition. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The bottom also has the original casters in working condition to ease with moving the trunk. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. It could also be used as a blanket chest. Antique Vintage Wooded Trunk Chest Steamer Humpback Rustic Cabin Decor
Up for auction is this beautiful wooden trunk. This is smaller in size than the much larger once that are usually listed. It overall dims are 26" long by 14" deep(front to back) by 13" tall. It comes with the key but the lock is missing. The face plate is there so it isn't affected cosmetically but the lock assembly is gone. Very rustic looking chest. The wood is very light weight like Cedar but the knots give it the look of Pine. The crack across the front gives it a great look. The channels and groves in the wood are from bugs and worms and give it one of a kind characteristics. Awesome in my eyes. This definitely has that Pirate Treasure Chest look going for it(except for the red lining inside of course) Very sound and sturdy yet looks to be made long ago. Pictures tell the story. Primitive ANTIQUE MINIATURE DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Victorian Dome Top 1880's
This is a cute antique. 1800s, miniature dome top streamer trunk. It was an antique doll trunk. It is wood covered in paper with black leather around the edge. The handles are also leather however one is missing. It shoulkd be easy to replace as the are just held on with small nails. It has small hinges on the back and an old latch on the front(which does close) It has a pretty picture on the inside of the lid showing two young children in Victorian dress. It has the original tray however someone has replaced the bottom of the tray. The wood is not very attractive and if I was keeping I would replace with a thin plywood if I didn't have an old piece of wood that would work. It measures 10 3/8" long, 5 3/4" wide and 5 1/4" tall. This Dome top is of Medium Size. It's a Wood and Filigree Tin Dome Top Antique Trunk measuring 26"L x 16.5"H x 13.5"W. The Exterior is covered in a Gold and Dark Gold Tin Filigree with Floral Design. You can see that the contrast between the tin and the oak wood is stunning. This trunk has all of its original hardware and both leather straps attached. Up for consideration is Antique"Jenny Lind" old Stage Coach Traveling Trunk or Steam Trunk. It has the inner tray. This item is in original aged condition at present-These trunks look simply beautiful when restored and polished up. Item is structurally sound and made of oak and pine covered with a leather exterior with steel bands going around it. It has brass buttons and a old iron lock face on the front. The leather handles are missing on the ends and the lock is non-operational. And without a key. When we found this item it was full of old personal items. Bonnets and papers. The bottom was lined with the paper shown in the picture. It was published in Jackson Ohio in 1894. With bronze or light brown rust patina colored hardware. You can use this item for its original purpose. Or you could use it as a coffee table. Condition: Antique. Solid and can be used as it is. Both handles are gone. The exterior has several cosmetic marks, scratches, and scuffs, normal for a used and antique trunk. The metalwork has a general oxidized rust patina. The back surface has a couple ripples in it. The lock works fine with the key to open and close. The interior smells musty(like an old trunk, rather than like mildew in my opinion) and needs to be aired out and I would spray it with Febreze and let stand. The till is quite worn. The bottom is loose in places, and the lid's back hinge(which was probably just fabric) is gone, so that the last owner turned the till around and let the leather front straps act as a hinge(the middle one of those is missing the snap) The interior lid surface is bowed down and cracked some. There are stamps(glued on paper) documenting the travels all around the trunk- more than I had room to upload photos for also many spot where the other stamps have come off It has the original handle that has come off the top. The handle itself is ripped and the strap that holds it down on one side is also missing. It definitely shows its age and use with discoloration and stains. I believe all the tie down straps are intact. You can also see the wear where the inside back hinges are- it still opens and shuts fine but there is break through of the lining and materials. Corners show wear as do the sides throughout the inside and out as this was definitely well used item. The handle is stamped A. DELION. PARIS, 24 BOULd DES CAPUCINES We dated the trunk by the address on the handle. I believe A. Delion operated out of this location at one time. We know that this was before 1905 as the address 24 Blvd des Capucines is one of the 4 Grand Boulevards of Paris so it is well documented. In fact. One of the most famous actresses of the 1800's, Mistinguett lived at that address from 1905-1955 which is how we dated the box to the late 1800's. This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. Found this unusual. Beautiful and untouched Leather, Iron and Wooden Victorian Era Dome Style Steamer Trunk at a local sale. A huge trunk measuring 36" wide. 30" tall and 23" deep. Decorated with hand applied tacked leather all around, ornate iron and wood, this trunk was made for folks who traveled far and for many weeks or months at a time. A TRIPLE LOCK system is evident on the front, designed to keep their worldly possessions safe. On each side of the trunk there are remnants of labels that provide a visual history of the famous places that this trunk traveled to. There is a label for a hotel in Paris. A label for a baggage cabin on a Cunard Line steam ship, and most interesting.a label for the St. James Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. The hotel was a popular destination for the wealthy in the 1870's and 1880's and ... moreburned in the Great Fire of 1901.never to be rebuilt. The interior of the trunk is in nice untouched shape for it's age. Inside the lid is a drop down drawer with its original leather and tin clasp for holding it in position. When opened. Selling a rare Victorian decoupage steamer trunk. This is a very unique piece and I have never seen another one like it. The trunk is pretty large piece measuring 40 X 23 X 22. I use it as a coffee table and have had a special piece of glass made for the top. the roller wheels are still functioning and the only defects is one missing closure clasp and the other one comes off easily. You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. Very cool aluminum locker! I think it's 1940's. Lots of rivets. Heavy latches. Great industrial age look! It measures 30" x 17" and 13 1/2" tall. No inside tray. Working& functional condition is very good. I opens and closes nice and tight. The latches catch and hold. The back hinges are heavy duty and move without issue. It's been well used. I assume well traveled. And it's got plenty of scratches. Dents, and imperfections in the aluminum. It still looks great! The leather handles are in great condition.
