Gorgeous Antique RH Stearns Innovation Steamer Trunk Co Boston 1912 Key Complete
Fabulous! Gorgeous! This steamer trunk is just magnificent. In excellent condition though a little dirty from age and use. Wooden frame is wrapped in a black painted canvas. Drawers are wrapped in yellow canvas except where the floral fabric is present. Drawers are wood! The chest has brass or brass plated heavy duty rounded corners. The strapping is some form of inflexible metal. Steel perhaps. The leather handle is missing one end and does slip out. But w 85% of handle present the handle could be duplicated w authenticity to original design! Emblems are beautiful! Shiny and detailed. L.W. is painted and bright in a classical shadow block font. The lock outside works as does top drawer lock! Original keys. All hinges and seaman are solid and tight. Trunk is in excellent functioning condition! The laminated hangers are included! The shoe ... morepockets are a lovely detail. There are two blue snapping straps inside. Umbrella, cane? There is a pin cushion type of ball attached to a wooden slat. The hump is magical. Here is a newer type of trunk liner paper. This is a classic pattern that we have used during our restorations. A prepasted paper. One double roll measures 20 1/2" wide and is 33' long. This lot is for two new rolls and one open roll with at least 10' remaining. This is more than enough liner paper to finish 2 average size trunks and one insert. Suggestion: We always use wallpaper paste during installation to insure adhesion.

This is an 1800's small sized domed trunk. All of the compartments are present and still look great. Exterior shows typical wear. There is a pencil written price of $1.50 on the bottom. The pics make this look like a typical big cumbersome trunk but it's actually much smaller with exterior measurements of 18x11x11 inches. Antique SCHUNEMAN & EVANS steamer trunk-St Paul, MN- early 1900's-by Indestructo
I am offering this antique steamer trunk from Schuneman& Evans in St. Paul Minnesota. This trunk was owned by a wealthy Minneapolis couple and was shipped over to Europe for a vacation in the early 1900s and was shipped back to the US from Europe after the vacation with a trunk full of expensive. European clothes. I am listing some of the clothes found in the trunk as well) The trunk was made by Indestructo in Indiana and there is a serial number found on the metal tag on the trunk, which was used to track down the owner in the case of loss. The trunk is in very nice condition for it's age. There are four hinges on the back side of the trunk and all are intact and working. The" clasps" used to close the trunk fasten well. There is another mechanism between the clasps and I'm not sure what it is and have not tried to ... morefasten it into place. The leather handle on the top of the trunk is broken as shown in the photo. There are appropriate scuffs and scratches on the surface of the trunk as one would expect from a trunk that is from this era. Inside is the half of the trunk that was used to hang clothes. This side has a cover as shown. the other side is drawers used to store smaller items. Some of the pulls are missing as shown. There is a separate compartment with a purple silk( I think) covered holder for one's favorite hat and this is in excellent condition( Please see photos) The drawers have a white powder in the bottom. I'm not sure if this powder was put there as a talcum powder or if the surface of the drawer has deteriorated so just a heads up on that. The trunk is 23.5 inches wide and 15.5-16 inches deep. It is 43 inches tall and it is extremely heavy. This will need to be picked up, if you have a desire to see South Dakota where I live or it can be freighted. Based on what this was used for, it could probably be freighted with the clasps secured as this was a heavy duty, well made trunk from a very exclusive company and is obviously very high quality. Up for sale is this antique/ vintage turn of the 19th century flat top steamer trunk with heavy duty ornate hardware in excellent antique condition. This beautiful trunk would make an excellent coffee table. Or would look great at the end of a bed or in the bedroom as a night stand. This VERY sturdy trunk measures approximately 33" long by 19" wide and 18" tall. This trunk shows normal wear from age as pictured, but as you can see this"patina" actually enhances the antique beauty of the piece. 100% Original. Overall it is in good shape. The interior lining is still intact(there are some tears in it) and there are no keys, however a key can easily be made. On top in the middle, there is a marking reading EST- MADE IN U.S.A-1893, DURABLE trademark, and underneath that, A.LERCHER NEW YORK. I do not know too much about trunks, just a little, so please observe all pictures good and closely before bidding. Both handles are broken/ripped, the one on the left seems to have most of the strap handle, on the right lot of the handle is missing ad shown in picture. Completely refinished antique dome top trunk. I installed new double ply stitched leather handles. very strong) made by local amish here in central PA. The exterior was cleaned, brushed& sealed for protection as well as conservation, I leave the cracks& dents to preserve the character that the trunk has ocumulated over the many years. New high end fabric for the interior was put on after stripping, cleaning, brushing, drying and sealing the interior. some say fabric was not used for the interior originally, but I have seen it on occasions and always in much better shape then wall paper, so for personal preference and long lasting I choose fabric for most of my projects. This is first of 2 real nice antique trunks just found this morning here on the Maine coast. This is a dome top(some call it a hump top) trunk which to me is great just the way it is(lots of character) or refinished would be a marvelous piece. It's big. It's heavy and solid, but I will ship it. Heavy duty solid brass latch and plate(with pat'd dates) cast iron locks(with pat'd dates) and the iron brackets where the leather handles attach(see pics) have the design of an anchor. European made- This trunk is covered in brown canvas and has a flat top with hardwood runners and reinforced brass corners. Would make a jazzy coffee table or store prop. This double lock Oak banded trunk Circa 1890-1910 were a newer generation of the older. More solid trunks previously made. The wood was thinner, and instead of wide wood slats, they used half round oak banding. Beautiful classic black Victorian paper lines the inside on all sides, the inside bottom and the inside top of the dome. The wood slats are in excellent condition. The wood finish still beautiful. The trunk closes with a lock(no key) in the middle and two latches. Antique Victorian Child's Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal Hardwood Trim
A pretty antique Victorian style hump back steamer trunk that's in good sound condition. We believe it was used by a child based on the size( 24" long X 15" wide X 17" high at the center) It has curved hardwood slats across the top and hardwood slats across the front, sides and back, there are lots of brass tacks holding the wood in place and the wood has a rich warm patina. The body of the trunk is covered with embossed tin and plain black metal. The leather handles are missing but these are inexpensive and can be purchased any of the trunk restoration sites on-line as well as right here on EBAY. It has two clasps on the front to hold it closed and there's a lock but no key, we are not certain that the lock works so it will arrive open. Two sturdy hinges on the back hold the lid securely in place and the lid fits nice ... moreand snug. The inside is nice and dry and there are the remnants of the old paper that it was lined with here and there. Most folks like to sand down the interior and apply a sealant which eliminates any lingering musty odors, another option is to line it with cedar. The bottom of the trunk is metal covered with three wood runners that have done a fantastic job of protecting the bottom. Near each corner on the bottom is a small metal wheel that makes the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. These antique trunks are not often found in such nice condition, there is very little surface rust and and absolutely no rust through on the metal. A great place to store extra blankets, seasonal clothing, toys, hats& mittens, a display piece for an antique doll collection or antique toys. I once sold a trunk to a grandmother who purchased it to send her grandson off to college!
