It would look great in a warehouse loft apartment. It is in display condition but has issues as a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are missing. The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk and don't know if the lock works. Both of the side front locks have issues but display well. There are no interior drawers. The interior shows it's age but would be great for storage. It measures as follows. It is 28 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 19 inches tall. Antique 1850's Rare Jenny Lind Trunk with Black metal banding and Brass, #265
Here is a beautiful Jenny Lind trunk from the Civil War period. Jenny Lind trunks are scarce. These were the top model trunks from any trunk maker of the day. They took quite a bit more work to put together and sold for a premium. Jenny Lind trunks were named after the Swedish singer who toured the U.S. in the early 1850's with P.T. Barnum. Known as the"Swedish Nightingale" she is said to have had a trunk like this one with her and they became all the rage for several years. They have a beautiful keyhole or figure eight shape. Most of the trunks like this were made in New England and are each a little different and hand made. The trunk has a beautiful interior with a lid door to store items and an interior shelf. There is scaring of the finishing material of the interior tray shelf sided where it comes in contact with side hinge ... morestrap. All that needs to be done is trimming of covering where rubbing is occurring. This will expose a beautiful wood finish. This is a very rare trunk. No key is provided and the pull over strap to engage lock is not present as shown.

The inside has been relined with Victorian paper& metal has been cleaned to restore its Original look. The latch on the inside has been replaced with a new latch(ordered from a trunk store) One piece of hardware is missing from a slate. Which I show in a picture. The bottom is missing a wheel, but trunk is not wobbly. The side leather handles are missing. The trunk measures 34 1/2" height, 24" Long, 18 1/2" Width. I could only confirm that this company did indeed make trunks in the late 1800's/ early 1900's. Measuring 36" x 21" x 13" and very heavy duty. It's in typical condition with wear you would expect from a piece this age, although please note the side handles and front locking latch are long gone. Nice 1800's stagecoach trunk. Steamer, jenny lynn style, with brass buttons, and wood slats, 26" long by 14 high and 14 High. It is covered in leather. Good condition for its age, some pieces of the leather are missing as seen in photo. There is leather to use for straps.included) one buckle is missing on front left,where there would have been leather straps around the trunk. the handles are unique. Made of bent wood and in excellent condition. The key plate appears to be brass. Overall very good condition for its age. Photo 5 shows the back of the truck, the leather is water stained and I do not know if the hinges there are original to the piece Interior is fair condition. Top compartment is all there, Photos 6 and 7 are the top compartment open and closed, the bottom tray is missing. Most of paper is there, but there is water stains ... moreon the edges.I see no stress cracks of the wood, but it is covered with leather,the leather has a design on the top. I SHIP QUICK! This is one of the nicest trunks I have ever had. This beautiful old Jenny Lind stagecoach trunk has been restored to beautiful condition but not too much to take away from the nice antique patina. The handles are leather with metal. Notice the hour glass shape of the trunk. The latch is not complete as you can see by the photos. There are some splits but it is solid and only adds to the vintage look of this old piece. It is a nicely made. Solid trunk. I got this at an estate sale in Virginia. No other information was provided to me but if you have input I will be glad to add it to this listing if possible. These old. Original trunk parts include 4 metal casters, 6 metal corners, metal strapping that circled an old trunk horizontally with original hinges and lock top attached(this strapping measures about 16" x 26.25" more than 50 original"square cut" nails(most were bent when removed from the original trunk) used to attach the metal strapping, etc. 4 matching embossed metal covers(not sure what these were used for) 4 matching metal covers for handle straps with original attaching nails in place, metal"retainer" slide that would hold the trunk lid open at a certain angle(don't the other half of this piece) and two matching metal pairs of leather strap covers and metal strap loops for strapping a trunk lid closed. The interior of this chest is still lined with its original paper which is pretty worn at the edges. Two chestnut colored leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 8 inches long. Thickness is 1/4" Four brass plated metal strap ends. 1" long split head brass tacks to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

Antique Small Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal& Wood 14"X11"X9" Inside Repainted
This delightful small trunk came to us from an estate auction out in the country. The outside seems all original but long ago the interior was painted in a cream color and handpainted with leaves and flowers. While we like things to be entirely original. This restoration is just right-nothing fake looking about it. My guess is that the cream color was done 60-70 years ago. There is considerable rust on the lock and the outside metal. This is a heavy duty gauge steel trunk with an all metal body including the metal bottom and with the wooden inside. It measures approximately 32" x 8" x 10 1/4" tall and that's not measuring the handles. It was very well built it weights about 18 lbs and 10 oz. There are no markings on it who made it. I don't know the age of it. If any one who knows about these can share more info with me about this item, I would greatly appreciate it. Black paint is chippy with some rust showing through especially on the bottom but there seem to be no holes and etc. It can be used for different things including to store carpenter tools as can be seen on pics. Antique Curved Leather Top Saratoga Trunk Offering you beautiful curved Dome top trunk. This trunk once was quite an expensive beauty. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I purchased it from a lady who stated it was in the stable area of her very old, victorian home. The home was built in the early 1900's. INSIDE: I believe it is constructed of Pine with a floral paper design. Which means this trunk belonged to a Woman. OUTSIDE: Has a dark metal/tin tone. 4) wooden, Elm? vertical slats on the dome top, 2) horizontal wooden slats on the front& ... moreback, 1) wooden slat on each side. There is a 16" wide(wooden slats divide the leather area) Leather type Alligator design area on the top that extends down the front and back and along both sides. The metal work is very nice and when this trunk was new, must have been gorgeous. There are(8) metal shield type designs holding down the top wood slats. On the top side ends, there are large metal Crown like designs. There are(2) brown leather handles. 1 handle is torn but repairable. This trunk was definitely for a woman of importance. Antique brown metal steamer trunk. Trunk measures 30" length x 17" wide x 12" high. Brass hardware includes: one main lock(missing key) Two large draw bolt locks, corner and center brass reinforcers/corner protectors.and two leather handles which appear newer/replaced. One handle on side missing. There is one"fragile" paper sticker on front. Trunk has a removable insert. Entire inside lined with green paper. iInsert measures 28.5" long and 2.5" depth. From an estate. You are bidding on an antique hump back doll trunk that is made of wood and metal. It has been painted black at some point in time. There are no handles on either side. There is a lock but no key but you can open it up easily. Inside is the original interior complete with tray. There might be some pieces of the interior missing so please refer to photos to verify what is present. The top piece of wood across the top of the hump has broken and is nailed into place. The trunk measures approx. 16 inches by 9 1/2 inches by 9 inches high plus the hump. I think it is in very nice condition, no odors, clean, and from smoke free homes. You are looking at a very& rare beautiful Used Antique wooden trunk. With a metal bottom. The handles are not there. The hard ware that held them on is. I guess you came say this trunk was carried around a lot. The lock is marked Eagle lock co. Terryville, Conn. It's in nice shape for it's age. I do not know the age.
