This Roos chest was made in Forest Park. ... moreIL. The chest is made of Claro Walnut, Striped Walnut and Black Walnut. The inside of the chest is aromatic Red Cedar. The cedar chest is still quite aromatic, it has a special sealite lid to prevent the escape of the protective cedar fumes. The chest measures 47-1/4" long, it is 23" tall and 18-1/4" deep. It has a cedar tray on the inside which is 10" deep. The cedar chest is in excellent condition, the wood is rich and it gleams. On close inspection it shows a few vintage scuffs, mainly where the back edge would rub against the wall when opened, but nothing outstanding and it shows no abuse. The inside looks like new. There is a lock on the chest but I do not have a key. This chest comes from a smoke free and pet free home. It is clean and ready to use. Buyers are welcome to ask for other forms of payment. Local pick up is welcomed. I live in South Bend. Indiana close to Interstate 80. I would also be willing to deliver within 100 miles for a reasonable delivery fee. This handsome. Rare, 6 drawer, Hepplewhite-style dresser was produced some time between 1780 and 1810.It was refinished in the 1960's or 1970's. The hardware is not original. The dresser is rare in that it is a six drawerpiece and it originally sat on a frame or another chest or highboy. The original owners would have used a ladder toget to the top drawers. The top of the dresser, which was never meant to be seen, has a lip and large dovetailing, pleasesee pictures.The piece is dovetailed throughout and hand chamfered.It is in excellent shape and completely gorgeous. Up for sale is this antique victorian dome top steamer trunk/pirate's chest made by M. M. Secor- The Great Northwestern Trunk and Traveling Bag Manufactory. It measures 31" long by 19" wide and 23" tall(no key) The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was hand sanded then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The exterior has some character flaws from age. Missing handles and some missing trim but overall it is in good condition- very functional and solid. The interior of this trunk has been left in all original condition to keep some of it's history. The paper lining has some wear from age as pictured but overall it is in fair condition with no odor. You are bidding on a very old. Charming doll's trunk/ chest. This trunk has been in our family for many, many years. I can remember as young girl, this trunk in my great grandmother's house with dolls' sitting inside it. The interior paper that it is lined with is adorable. I have taken an"up close' picture so you can truly appreciate the darling depictions. The trunk contains a removable shelf that is in very good shape. I have shown photos of the shelf both in the trunk and removed. The trunk itself is in normal. Aging condition- indicative of a piece this old. It is from the 1890's-1910's era. The flat top of the trunk has been"depressed" a bit on the top. it is not totally flat anymore, due to age- a bit concave as I tried to show in the photos. This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. You can not see this in the photo.you can only feel it when you run your hand across the back.VERY MINOR. But the pins are missing and one of the pivots is stiff. So, the top comes completely off. There is some sort of texture. Or film, around the lettering on the front of the box. German Antique wooden Chest 1700s
This antique chest measures 54" long. 24" wide(front to back) 23 1/2" high(including 3" legs) There is plenty of storage room, one small compartment measuring 6 1/4" across, 4" deep, 24" front to back on the left side. All finished wood, no rough surfaces. Working original lock and key included. Various decorative finishes are apparent in a few of the pictures. It has a feathered look and the detail adds a lot of character to this piece. This item has been in my family for many years. The date on the front starts out 177? the last number is unreadable but if I had to guess I would say 1774 or 1777 and the name is Jacob Roth. My father and grandparents are from the Lebanon and Palmyra areas of Pennsylvania.

Walnut, and Oak Chest on Chest In two parts: the upper section having three aligned drawers over three graduated drawers with brass bail handle pulls; the lower section having a pull-out slide over three graduated drawers. Brasses replaced and drawers front probably refaced) Last Quarter 18th Century Height: 73" x Width: 45-1/2" x Depth:21" Double chest. Vertically. It is a rare design e4specially since most of us arn't tall enough to see inside the top row of drawers. Each row consists of either three smaller drawers across, or one large drawer. The entire piece of furniture is made up of two sections, the top and the bottom. The top of the piece fits into the bottom without needing any type of hardware to attach them togather. All that is needed is ... moreto set the top section inside the outer rim of the bottom section. About mis section there is a flat rather thin board which pulls out like one of the drawers, but is intended to act as a folding table. Also there is a very unique large drawer just above that folding one which offers four smaller drawers inside and also four cubby holes each with a compartment just under these little drawers. The entire piece is handmade from frame to finish The workmanship of the day was impeccable and the vaneering composition and application is completely without compare Each drawer is trimmed around the perimetor with a light maple of about a 1/2 inch all around. The chest is roughly two hundred and twenty years old. And I have to underscore just how stable and functional the piece is still. This is not a piece that one has to just look at, this is a full service, everyday working chest that still has many many years of service left in her. It comes with the two ditty boxes on top, one of which shows some veneer shrinkage on the face, and a dainty little backsplash, along with a solid mahogany top and an empire style rolled flame mahogany top drawer. It has been all re-sprayed in a dark reddish-brown mahogany stain to bring out the gorgeous grains of the flame mahogany veneers. Offering this very attractive antique Lane small profile Cedar Chest style#336 with a manufacturing date of July 26. 1927. This petite beauty is just 36 inches wide, 17 1/2 inches deep and just 14 1/2 inches tall. It could have been or could be slightly taller if the caster feet were replaced. It has two copper or brass plated gate post looking straps which is a nice matching add to the fine petina of the cedar wood. There are some rough marks and finish misses, heavy on left front edge and some other visible scratch markings in other areas of the lid. See Photos. I am selling it without any contents(empty– no parts) It has five drawers with recessed pulls. The inside of the drawers measure 17-3/4” wide. 9” deep and 1-3/4” high. The case is made of oak and pine. The front of the case is made in oak. While the main body is constructed of pine. It has a tambour door that slides up. But is missing a few slats. The back of it is lined with old canvas and a newspaper from the 1950s that advertises Cadillacs. The finish on the door was removed a long time ago. That’s just how I got it. Nice Old Antique Trunk. I am not sure of the exact age. But the lock on it is from Eagle Lock Co. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age of the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. Antique Vintage Wooden Travel Luggage Chest Stagecoach 1840-1870s Saratoga Dome
This is an original un-restored travel chest/ stagecoach luggage from around the 1830-1870s time frame. I am not sure of the exact age but it is very old. It has been stored the best way possible for the last 65 years and possibly longer. This was in my grandparents house which was built in 1897. My mom said the last time she remembered it was when she was about 10(1950s) My mom said she remembered her grandmother talking about it belonging to her mother(my mom's great grandmother) So this belonged to my great great grandmother. I am almost 40 years old and my grandmother passed away about 8 years ago at 95 years of age. Dimensions are 32" Wide. 18" Deep and 22" Tall at center of top, 20" at edges of top. The rope handles are decayed mostly and it does show it's age. It was stored carefully inside since the 1950s and wasn't even touched for at least 60 years. I have had the chest for about 3 years and have stored it carefully as well. I took it out for the pictures and sat it on top of some boxes in the garage for the pictures. There are metal corners and buckles some of which have some rust. The wood has a split on the top and it is very dirty. The interior is all original as well. It seems to be in ok shape for the fact it is 150-185 years old. There is some age damage to the pictures inside and the fabric as well as the outside of this chest. It was used back then and it does show that. Please do not expect a nice restored chest. This is untouched and has not see the light of day in at least 60 years and not used for at least 100 years. IT WAS FOUND IN AN OLD VILLAGE THAT WAS NOT LIVED IN FOR ALONE TIME JUST ALOT OF OLD FOUNDATIONS AND STONE WALLS LEFT THERE. I WAS TOLD FROM LOCAL PEOPLE LEAVING CLOSE TO THERE THAT NO ONE HAS LIVED IN THAT AREA FOR ALMOST 100 YEARS.IT IS PART OF A BUNCH OF ITEMS I FOUND WELL THERE. Antique Whiteaway Laidlaw & Co. Leather Trunk Chest with Beautiful Patina / Age
Up for auction is a well-traveled and purpose-built antique leather trunk. This trunk chest features real brass hardware with working latch closure. Reinforced leather corners, interesting nail head detail and real flat copper rivets. It is a very sturdy, well-constructed trunk which also has four inner metal braces to make it more crush-resistant, along with a green twill cotton liner throughout. Please look at all the photos to get a sense for the used condition of this antique trunk chest. The trunk has two clasps at its front where a leather handle was likely affixed at one time. In addition. One of the leather seams across the back side has pulled away slightly as shown, but does not detract from the piece as it is on the backside. We never thought to re-affix that seam but that could certainly be done. Structurally, the trunk opens ... moreand closes freely with two leather hinge support straps that hold the lid open securely. The top of the trunk has the initials A. B. inscribed and the label on the underside of the trunk lid reads Made Expressly for Whiteaway Laidlaw& Co. Ltd. India, Burma, Ceylon. We discovered this trunk at an antiques store in historic Wickford. RI a number of years ago and had to have it. This trunk measures 19" L x 19" W x 13" W and we have found it to be excellent for storing magazines and other printed materials with great style, appropriate for the living room, a home office/ study or library setting.
