You can see in my photos that the door has clear glass, as it was last used as a Collector Display Cabinet. The good news is that the original old Beveled glass mirror was saved, as well as the mirrors wood backing. The mirror is included in the auction, and will be shipped with the cabinet. It should be easy to remove the glass and put the old mirror back into place. The entire cabinet looks to have the original old finish on the wood, and is tight strong, and ready to hang. This is a very clean large oak trunk that has a variety of uses such as a blanket chest. Toy chest, or wonderful coffee table. It is made of solid oak with the original finish that has a nice patina and is finished on all sides including the back. The inside of the trunk has been painted red but can be stripped back to the natural oak. The trunk is 48" wide, 22" deep, and 24 1/2" tall. There is a piano hinge that opens the top. There is a lock but I do not have the key. The trunk was originally on rollers. Antique Wooden Machinist's Tool Chest in Great Condition I'm no expert on these chests. But this has to be very old. It had been leather covered when new, because I can see the evidence of the leather in several places. Picture#11 shows the leather still remaining at the top edge of the chest. The dimensions are: Length- 19" Height- 14" Depth- 9" This is the wood box dimension, without adding for the hardware. The lock and latches are Eagle Lock Co. Terryville,CT. There is no key. The handle has to be the original leather covered one and the leather is not in good shape, but it certainly fits with the age of the chest. All of the latches, hinges and lock are complete and work fine, except for the missing key. For those of you who know more about this. I'm sure you can identify the brand from the drawer knobs and ... morediamond shaped back plates on them. I'm sure it has been sanded and finished, probably at the time the leather was removed. The top and base appear to be a marriage with the top being older then the base. The drawer fronts have a pronounced Tiger Maple and the color of the chest is that honey golden brown that is most sought after. The top appears to be a period piece from the early 1800s. The base appears to be more custom made which might be made 50 years ago, it is hard to tell. Size is 17" wide by 18" deep at the base. 17 5/8" wide by 18 1/8" deep at the top. 11" tall. It is missing 1 small decorative block on the front left side top and a narrow 3/16" wide strip at the right rear edge. That strip would be an easy to find replacement as they used the same strips to hold in backs of mirrors and glass in doors of cabinets. I don't know if the dropped drawer pulls are original or not but were on it when I bought the cabinet out of an estate 20 years ago. Drawers are sound and solid and finger jointed all around. The lettering on the front drawers is on tin. Finish,lettering and advertising on the rear look all original to me. It is solid oak-not veneer. Not perfect but a nice chest. Up for bid is an antique/vintage. Dark green medicine chest with mirror and crystal/glass knob. The actual frame of the chest seems to be in good condition, although the interior has been painted at some point and is flaking badly. The outside, dark green paint is patchy in the best sort of way, but could also be refinished. The mirror has some patina to it but is still clear enough to be useful. The inside has nice shelf supports, although the glass shelves would need replaced as none have survived. The overall measurements are 21 1/4 inches wide x 25 inches tall x 6 inches deep. ANTIQUE CHINESE QING DYNASTY CHEST& STAND WITH FIGURAL JADE PIN LOCK Offered here is this Chinese Qing Dynasty era chest on separate Yamanaka style stand. This ornate chest is from circa the early 1800's and the stand. We believe, was a later addition during the early 1900's. The chest has brass hardware and sports a single bail handle on the left and right sides. The front has a brass hinge that has a slide through pin with green jade figures on each end(see pictures) The figures look like a scholar and a student. The chest is a deep red color inside and out with court scenes of people, houses and trees. Throughout the scenes on the exterior there are some small writings written in Chinese characters(see pics) The chest appears to be all original. There may have been some old repairs here and there. CONDITION; The chest is in ... morefair condition but it would benefit from some restoration work by a professional antique restorer. The chest displays well. As it is, but if you want it to be perfect then you'll have to have it restored. The top of the chest has several areas that are cloudy and the edges of the chest have chips and missing edges(see pictures) There are some stains on the interior and exterior of the chest too. The chest opens and closes fine and the hinges all work well. The jade pin has no chips to the figures and is in very good condition. The jade is cool to the touch. The end of the pin separates so you can easily slide the pin lock in or out when closing or opening the brass hinge. The stand is solid wood and painted black. It has gold colored highlights as well. The stand is in very good condition and is solid and stable. Underneath the stand there are 6 decorative corner pieces of wood missing out of 8. They are small pieces but noticeable when you look closely. MEASUREMENTS; The chest measures 30 3/8" wide. 12 1/2" tall and 20 1/4" long. The chest is surprisingly light in weight. Hello. You are viewing my sale for an Antique Sturdi Cedar Chest By Francis F. Hamilton. This is a"Margeret No. 580" according to the indentation on the bottom. This chest has an Early Patent Date of"Aug. 26, 1924" and the final date reads"March 9, 1926" These dates as well as others are indented on the bottom as well. This may have been a salesman sample of a larger size chest that was identical to this smaller chest. This is only my guess however. This chest measures when closed 4 and 1/2" tall by 12 and 3/4" long by 8 and 1/2" wide. On the interior there is a green felt fabric as well as a gold lace trim. There are the letters" K E V N" stuck to the interior section plastic dividers. This appears to be a modern add on for someone who owned this before. First of all this piece stands 48 high x 43 wide x 21 deep This piece is heads and shoulders above any other"Butler's desks" that I and others have personally even. The piece id very old, early 1800's when the holes for the hardware were carved in, and the other tool markings are just as primitive, although the workmanship is fantastic. On this piece, the veneer is all in really great shape! Ther'es no\bubbling, or chipping like you would see in much later pieces. even veneer piece made as late as the 1970's have shown tremendous damage from wear ... moreor even daily polishing. The set up for this piece is like this; Two side by side drawers across the very top, then, one single oversized drawer front, which opens and"drops down" to act as a writing surface, by first pulling the entire panel straight out like a drawer, then pressing both buttons in on the spring loaded latch located on both ends of the panel) exposing all the little compartments and drawers inside, and the backside of the front panel which drops down has a soft, recessed fabric on it for writing which has been left in the original worn condition for the antique value.
