ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL STYLE MARQUETRY INLAID MARBLE TOP COMMODE 20th Century Item# 120008IRU26 Veneered in mahogany and rosewood. The colors of this attractive commode are earthy and relaxed, the neutral palette easily adopted into most design settings. The entire surface is inlaid with some rather intricate marquetry work, the musical instruments central to the commode are flanked on either side by books hanging from knotted ribbon, the same arrangement employed on either side of the case. Two large drawers make up the case, each crafted of solid oak secondaries dovetailed front and back. The surface is embellished with bold gilded bronze mounts along the apron, at each corner of the top and along the entire length of each leg, these terminating in very attractive Lion's paw sabots. In my opinion a fine example of late 19thc hand painted Oriental. Black, brown-gold and gold hand painted bird and flower, leaf panel, lacquer ware over wood, table cabinet, chest of drawers, jewel box. The item is in good general order; age associated wear and tear. Few scuffs and minor loss to the lacquer, as shown, missing handles to the front drawers, hinges to the inner lid are strengthened, base section on the right hand side has some repair: see picture. Combined postage offered. Height at 11.5 inches. Width is at 9.5 inches, with a depth of 4.35 inches. Part of my own collections. Antique Child's 19th C. Primitive Mahogany Chest of Drawers-Folk Art- AAFA
Read all of this and look at all the photos. This little mahogany childs chest of drawers came out of a Boulder estate last week. All original. Nothing altered little chest is 10 1/16" back to front and 13 1/8" side to side, and 13 1/2" high, with the back splash 2 1/2" The alligator finish is irregular and has a water stain on the top. I didn't want to mess with it. This little gem looks like 1850 period and east coast origin. We do see things in Boulder from early Pennsylvania. Certainly no later than 1870. It has many hand cut small nails that have bled into the wood. The four drawers have been painted pink inside at a later period and measure app. 8 x 11 x 2 1/2. The lower left front rail is partially missing and the right back rail is missing. There is an old crack on the top. They really do not distract from ... morethe piece. The sides are slightly curved. The secondary wood is pine. Again. This is a wonderful little chest in unrestored condition that was likely made on a farm on the east coast 150 years ago. Antique or Vintage Map Chest- 6 Drawers--REDUCED!
This old map chest was left to me by a man I took care of for awhile before he passed away. I am scaling down and am selling some of my older pieces. The chest is wood- not sure what kind- maybe oak. It has six drawers. I do NOT know its age. But I do know many people can tell age of older furniture by looking at how it is constructed. I tried to use pictures that will show this. It is well made, I do know that. It has round feet that are flat on top and bottom- see picture. It is in super condition for its age and could be re-stained or varnished. I used it as it is because I don't mind the older look. Measures 24" wide by 17.5" deep and about 27" tall. I do not know the age of this Bombe Chest. Estate Sale FInd!~ It appears very old. 30.5"w x 27.5"tall x 15" deep Has 3 different woods and inlays. A lovely piece in excellent used condition. See details above. I love this piece! T he first bombe chests were originally crafted in France nearly 300 years ago. They were created during the Regence period between 1715-1723 A.D. This was a new era of loosened artistic endeavors after the long. Strict rule of Louis XIV. He preferred sharp, classical furniture and would not allow for such"wild" tastes. Thankfully, when his successor took the throne a more artistic and light-hearted approach became the norm in France. The lid also has what appears to be the#8 or an ampersand which has been made by small brass nails. If you're looking for a really clean functional tool chest this is not the piece for you. A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made. And equipped with beautiful oak slats and ball castors on the bottom end. This fine trunk is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made with the same quality workmanship as the famous much more expensive ones. AMERICAN FEDERAL WALNUT TALL CHEST OF DRAWERS WITH FLUTED COLUMNS Pennsylvania. C. 1810-20 Item# 410KPP11A A distinct transition into the Federal Period. This fine Pennsylvania Tall Chest of Drawers exhibits the classical architecture of the Chippendale era adapted for the Neoclassical taste of the early 19th Century. Retaining it's original oval pulls, these with roses embossed inside an infinite double loop and entirely untouched feet, this is a particularly desirable object for collectors. The concave crown molding is bold, aggressively projecting over the unembellished case of three small drawers over five graduated full drawers. The sides of the case extend through the feet, making the interior blocking of the feet an integral part of the case and something permanent- much of the reason the feet have survived in such extraordinary ... morecondition. The backboards are untouched and typical of the period with neat rows of square forged iron nails affixing the backboards to the case. Each drawer is of fine craftsmanship. The tidy hand dovetails crisp and perfect, the pine plank bottoms chamfered on the sides and front to be set in grooves along these edges; all drawers are tacked at the back edge with three hand forged nails. Protecting the contents of one drawer is a full dust board, the other drawers with partial dust boards over the first one-third. Flanking the drawers are the deeply fluted Corinthian columns with turned bases and caps so commonly found in chests of this region. As a well preserved and absolutely stunning object of Early Pennsylvania. Particularly interesting for the meld of Federal and Chippendale designs and it's very fine craftsmanship, this is an outstanding investment grade work of art that was built to last and if well cared for will last long beyond our lifetimes. Antique chest circa 1750. Believed to be made by Matthew Egerton. Father/son prominent New England furniture makers(New Brunswick, N.J. whose work favored the Hepplewhite mode. Beauty of line. Graceful inlay and rich grain of cherry& hickory. This piece was passed down in our family. However there is no label or authenticity provided as is common with many old new England furniture makers. On the back of the chest it appears that there may have been some wood replaced over time. The eagle hardware drawer pulls could also have been replaced. ANTIQUE VINTAGE TIGER OAK PORTABLE CHEST WITH 6 DRAWERS & DROP FRONT
This is a beautiful TIGER OAK. DROP FRONT, 6 DRAWER CHEST last used by an artist to hold paints and brushes. The top, front, and both sides are made of rare tiger oak. The back and bottom are also made of oak. The only thing missing is the key; however the lock is in tack and appears in working condition if a key was available. The chest measurements are 20 inches wide 9 inches in depth and 12 inches high. The drop front can slide under the drawers while the chest is in use. The top left drawer measures 2 3/8 by 9 1/8 inches, the two top right drawers measure 1 1/8inches by 9 1/8 inches, the first full length drawer from the top measures 18 7/8 inches by 1 3/4 inches, the second full length drawer measures 18 7/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches, the bottom drawer measures 18 7/8 inches by 2 7/8 inches. The drawers are assembled with slots on the front, ... moreback, sides and bottom. I am not sure what the handle material is but it is very sturdy with a special feel. Fine American Chippendale Walnut Highboy Antique Tall Chest of Drawers, PA c1790
AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERS OVER OGEE FEET Pennsylvania c. 1790 Item# 410QNP11W A bold and impressive object. This fine American Chippendale Tall Chest of Drawers originates in southeastern Pennsylvania, possibly the Delaware River Valley. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the cabinetmaker choosing vivid walnut planks carefully to showcase the most important and striking aspects of the chest. Note in particular the wonderful flowing grains along the sides of the case, the overall horizontal flow of the grain along the front of the drawers lapsing in random swirls and burls of the plank. The case is crested by cove molding projecting over three small drawers, two medium drawers and four broad drawers- all carefully graduated to flow harmoniously together. Noteworthy are the two drawers with patches, not unusual for these cases ... morewith overhanging lips on the drawers- these are particularly susceptible to being damaged when a drawer is closed unevenly or too harshly, as is probably the case with one or both of these drawers. The repairs were done rather competently, the restorer having to carefully choose boards with at least as much figure as the neighboring parts of the drawers. The drawers are embellished with replaced pierced brass hardware. The frames handsomely dovetailed white pine with integral runners mitered to accept the chamfered white pine bottom, mostly crafted of a single huge plank of pine, this tacked along the back edge with iron nails. The drawers are flanked by fluted corinthian columns with turned caps and bases, the whole case resting over very striking and significant ogival feet. They project an unusual sense of strength and masculinity, each with soft scroll cut returns and resting over thin blades. The back of the case shows the simple and tidy construction we expect from the best craftsmen of this region, the triangular rear foot supports dovetailed into the facings for a permanent joint. Selling the antique 4-Drawer Walnut Empire/ Federal Dresser with Tiger Maple Inlay& Walnut veneer front c. mid 1800s. All drawers are dove tailed and have glass knobs(except the blanket drawer which has grooves on the bottom where you pull it open) The dresser measures approx 45" high x 42" wide x 22" deep. A few small pieces of veneer are missing and one small area of veneer is buckled. The front right foot has a cosmetic crack. Overall. A very nice looking antique piece of furniture.
