Antique Primative 18th Cen. 6 Board Blanket Chest Green c.1790 Rose Head nails
PICK-UP ONLY! A rare. Old, authentic six(6) board blanket chest found in South Carolina. Based on the construction and the rose-head nails, the chest(blanket box) has been dated at around 1790. The boards are made of pine and in surprisingly good condition. There are a few signs of wear. Such as some of the trim is missing from the bottom and top, the locking mechanism is missing and one of the strap hinges is not attached. Also, the till is missing. The hinges are hand made(forged) individually by a blacksmith. The original nails are also individually made by a blacksmith, there are some other nails that have been added later, some for the purpose of attaching some sort of lining, possibly, most of the original nails are in place, I took a photo of 2 of the rose head nails that were in the bottom of the box, one of them appears to be for ... morethe loose strap hinge. There are at least two modern screws that I found. One was put in one of the hinges and another was put on the bottom board to help secure it. The chest is very sturdy and strong. not rickety at all. You can sit, or even stand on it(not that I would) I am asking a fair amount for this very old work of art and important piece of Americana, but I will entertain all reasonable offers. As for shipping and delivery; I am not prepared to ship this large box. With a width of over 42 inches(height and depth are both around 17 1/2" I do not want to try shipping this. Oregon City Woolen Mills Antique Indian Trade Camp Blanket w Label A beautiful old trade blanket in very good condition. These Oregon City trade blankets date back before 1935 as that is when Oregon City quit producing blankets. The first two photos are opposite sides of the blanket having opposite colors. This blanket has no major problems. It's very clean.but you will find a scatter of small bare areas that showed themselves when I held it up to the light. There is one small 1" part where the blanket has slightly separated from the edge. The label is intact but a bit hard to read. And the blanket measures approx. 55" X 68 1/2" I can detect no spots or odors. Antique Pennsylvania Dutch wool knitted blanket with embroidered decoration
I can only describe this blanket- as I am not sure of the details- but I think it is quite old because you can see the stitching that pieces the 3 panels together. All hand decorated in black and red wool. For its age. It is in great condition because there are no holes. There is slight staining- more on the underside than the top- see photos. In photo 8 I show a detail of visible stains on the top. But all in all, very good condition- the wool is bouncy and thick. It would benefit from a proper cleaning. Photo 6 shows the underside. It measures 74"long x 60"wide.

Here is an authentic vintage circa early 20th century crazy quilt that is hand sewn. Some of the patches have hand embroidered initials. I saw M. C, and others. It measures 70” x 85” so could be used as a blanket or bedspread on almost any size bed. It is made of many different fabrics from silks, cotton calicos, polished cotton solids. I counted six patches that have deteriorated(the silks) and could either be replaced or just cut out. I counted about three patches with small to medium brown spots. Other than that, this is in good, vintage condition. The backing is pink cotton. I have Up for your consideration a very nice attic find! These were stored away in a box in our new home and we do not have any need for them. I am listing the two Vintage Pullman Blankets in separate auctions. They both are in different conditions. Both listings will have accurate and detailed pictures and descriptions. But since I am not an expert, Please do not hesitate to ask any further questions prior to bidding. This wool berth blanket was made exclusively for the Pullman Company use in their Sleeper Cars. Pullman blanket numbering began in 1907. The“20” designation would date this blanket to 1926 I believe. The blanket measures 87" by 58" The pattern is two shades of mauve. Dark mauve with a lighter mauve pattern. The reverse side is the opposite. The logo reads; Pullman S-20. This Blanket looks as though it was used at ... moreone time. The color is lightly faded. I put the 2 together so you can see. This one is just a bit faded and a little more worn, along with the edges fraying. This was a custom practiced by the German and Scandinavian Colonists who brought the tradition with them from their homeland. The dower chest was an elaborately decorated blanket chest that often incorporated the bride’s name and initials and the year of the marriage were paint decorated in the decoration. We are pleased to offer this Antique Paint Grain Decorated. Dovetailed, Diminutive Dower Blanket Chest from South Eastern Pennsylvania Dated 1786. The Diminutive Dower Chest is handmade of Pine Wood. The antique Wooden Boards are a True One Inch Thick! This is a Very Solid, Heavy and Finely Constructed Chest. It has ... morelasted in Excellent Condition for over 225 years! The Top or Lid of the Paint Decorated Dower Chest is a Two Board Construction with Bread Board Edge Molding. There is a glorious Wrought Iron Knot that graces the center of the lid on the Antique Grain Painted Dowers Chest that is part of the lock mechanism that runs through the top board of the Antique Dower Chest. All four corners of the Diminutive Dower Chest are finely hand dovetailed and the bottom of the antique chest has shoe edge molding. The sides and front of the Diminutive Dower Chest are wood grain painted, in a glorious style that resembles burl wood, and the bride’s initials“E. T. S. and the date of her marriage“1786” are incorporated into the paint grained decorated surface(see photos) The paint-decorated surface is age and time appropriate. The bottom of the Diminutive Dower Chest is two board construction and attached by hand wrought Rose Head Nails(see photos) The photo shows the true wood grain patina surface that is so outstanding with the Rose Head Nails. This interesting item has a small gallery back over a fall down front enclosing a bank of two later drawers and storage area above an ornately carved panelled front and is raised atop stile supports. Fine American Flame Painted Antique Blanket Chest, Pennsylvania c. 1830-50
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING FINE AMERICAN RED FLAME PAINTED BLANKET CHEST Southeastern Pennsylvania c. 1830-50. Preserved in nearly untouched original condition Item# 1402BQS21PA This is a very fine and remarkably well preserved blanket chest with a delightful flame painted original surface. The whole executed very skillfully to imitate match booked mahogany veneers. Originating from the Southeastern counties of Pennsylvania, this chest was crafted in the second quarter of the nineteenth century of solid Cedar primary woods and poplar secondary woods with some white pine secondary woods. The molded edge is affixed to the top with wooden pegs around the perimeter, this lifting over original iron hinges(retaining original hand filed screws) to reveal a clean ... moreand large interior. The till on the left has a panel beneath it, originally lockable but now easily opened by pulling to reveal two small drawers, each handsomely crafted with tidy dovetails and nailed bottoms, retaining their original turned wooden knobs. The bottom of the case is attached to the sides with large wooden pegs driven through the underside into the frame, each corner having a square wooden block affixed with square iron nails into which the large dowels of the feet are sunk. The feet are beautifully turned balls topped by a sharp ring, each well worn and attractively patinated. For anyone passionate about painted Pennsylvania antiques. This is an absolute treasure. Nearly untouched and retaining originality in every aspect of the case, this is an outstanding addition to any classically styled interior. Measurements: 47" wide x 22 1/16" deep x 25 1/4" high Condition Report: No keys and primary lock is untested. The hidden panel is missing it's lock(and key) Scratches and gouges to surface throughout. The finish being original and very well preserved considering. Rare Fabulous Antique Cumberland Herdwick Sheep Wool Hand Woven Blanket Folk Art
I am always really excited when I find one of these quite fabulous C19th English hand woven blankets or throws Like the Welsh tapestry and Scottish tartan. These particular blankets, with their natural earth tone palette of colours and chevron design, are utterly regional and very distinctive Having been woven in Cumberland or Cumbria in the Lake District from the wool of the hardy Herdwick sheep. There was a small cottage industry producing these textiles and each design was particular to a single farm or village This blanket is in excellent condition and has an unusual addition of a dark and a light blue yarn to the plaid weave along with the more usual cream and brown and raspberry red A real example of folk art and craft. Super old looking antique tapistry hand woven blanket throw wall hanging art
I hope I have this in the right category. I have no idea on the age of this and don't know anything about sewing. This is a really old tapestry or something like that. It might be a wall hanging or a blanket. I got it a few years ago from a pawn shop type place in Massachusetts. I think it might be hand made. And it appears to be super old. It isn't in the best shape and has some tears, stains, and some of the fringe is cut off. It is also kind of dirty, but I don't want to wash it because I am not sure how to clean old fabrics. It is neat, and might be worth something to a collector.

To the best of our knowledge this chest was made in Bucks County, PA. It is entirely made from 6 boards. Is dove-tailed, and has early square nail and wood peg construction. The chest is 45 1/2' long x 18 1/4" wide. It is 20 1/2" high. It has a 15 1/4" high interior and stores quite a bit. The wood has a nice patina and a lovely feel. We do not have the key. We are selling because we are moving. It has been in a smoke free home.

ANTIQUE WALNUT DOVETAILED BLANKET CHEST. SIX BOARD BOX! ◆ Beautiful Blanket Chest hand made of solid. Magnificent wide boards. Every side of this chest is a single plank of beautiful. Clear hardwood. Even the bottom! Not sure which type of wood. Has a walnut richness& depth to it, or maybe cherry? In any case, these boards used to make this chest came from a very old, huge tree. The construction is gorgeous. Beautiful dovetailing, the classical legs look hand-turned. The moldings look like they may have been hand-planed, certainly the bottom shows signs of hand-planning. Lots of character to this chest. Feels like it could have been in an old home for generations. The surface shows plenty of living history& use, lending this chest a very rich, lived-in quality, as opposed to formal& untouchable as sometimes old chests can be) ... moreI've tried to show the aged patina and surfaces in the photos. Very charming in its worn qualities, but solid, expertly crafted to be used and enjoyed, its lasted for the ages and will last many more. Looks like the heroically wide board comprising the top shrank a bit width-wise(wood wasn't so kiln-dried in those days) So in this season the top is tight& rests just shy of level, perhaps the dry cold winter for a piece made south of here, a little trim would likely fix this permanently if you'd prefer, but it all looks great to me! It's an excellent size. Measuring about 24" high, almost 36" wide& nearly 18-1/2" deep. UPDATE REGARDING SHIPPING: This item should ship UPS. MAGNIFICENT"MOTHER OF ALL BLANKET CHESTS" GIGANTIC DOVETAILED SIX-BOARD-BOX õ Actually I think this heroic trunk is an Indonesian Dowry Chest. Or Javanese Storage Trunk(or" Grobog" in Bahasa) To my knowledge. These were the most spectacular, titanic dovetailed chests made anywhere at any time. Each side of this chest is a single gigantic slab of Teak. Cut by hand from the giant Teak trees that once were plentiful in the region. This is the Real Deal, a now rare form from the days of the Dutch East Indies. The work in this piece is astounding. Every incredibly wide board is hand-planed. Revealing the rich, dark ripple of the aged teak through the subtly faceted carving. The moldings are hand-planed into the boards. The magnificent dovetails seem almost large enough to be a log cabin, the carvings lovely and tasteful ... moresubtle coloration to the wood rich& warming. The iron work is tremendous, robust, aged, hand-forged& intense. And as was the tradition, it's on these really great, large, built-in solid teak wheels! The top slab measures an incredible nearly 25" wide by 36" long in a single slab. Overall height is about 36-1/2" There are two handy compartments inside. One the full height of the interior and one with space underneath. I've been a collector of dovetailed chests for many years& I've collected some absolute beauties. This one is about the most heroic single-slab six-board box I've seen. The Indonesian Grobog chests can be very ornately carved& painted with striking colors. Indonesia is known for its amazing tradition of woodworking and crafts. I like that this one is much more simple& plain than most. And that the aged wood is allowed to be the most prominent surface. Indonesian chests like this are getting very rare. There was a time back in the 1990's when great containers of Indonesian Antiques were being shipped over. Antique Primitive Lift Top Two Drawer Country Sheraton Cherry Blanket Chest
This wonderful early 19th century chest exemplifies many forms of old world wood construction. The lid appears to be pinned mortice and tenon. The sides and drawers are hand dovetailed, and the base is mortice and tenon. The drawer bottoms appear to be hand planed and fastened with square nails.The hardware appears to be original, but the latch is missing. Judging by the edges and evidence of past screw holes, the lid appears to have been turned around. You can also see that a latch cut-out is now at the back of the lid. All of the wood is solid and at least 1" thick. This a very fine antique that measures 44 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 31 inches high. This antique 19th C. homespun wool blanket was found in Pennsylvania. It is a beautiful natural linen color. The blanket is two panels. The center seam. And top and bottom hems, are neatly hand-stitched. It is a finer wool weave, with a medium weight. It measures 65" wide, selvedge to selvedge, and 76" long. There are some small holes throughout, most of which are hard to see unless you hold the blanket up to the light. It is being sold"as is" The blanket is clean and odor free. The close-up pictures are truer to the blanket's color. The fabric is stable. With nice texture, and can certainly be used as a blanket, but would also look great just thrown over the arm of a chair or settle. It's just a neat primitive textile. Thanks for looking.

this was appraised about 6 years ago at $1200.00. It is from the late 1800's- early 1900's. It is a trade blanket from Northern Mexico. Very tightly woven, vibrant colors, natural dyes, and braided fringe on ends. The colors are some of the best I have seen. It has a few tear spots at edges(very small) and a spot of fringe that is hanging a bit off the end. Very clean and well kept, spots of damage can be repaired if so desired. ANTIQUE CHIEF BLANKET NAVAJO RUG Native American Indian Navaho Wool RANCHFOLKS
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 O ffered here is a circa1910 exciting old Navaho weaving that measures 3 feet 9 inches long by 5 foot 2 inches wide or 45” x 62” and is in excellent condition. It was hand-woven by an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn. Handcarded and nicely handspun long staple Churro and Merino quality sheep wool, both weft& warp. Here is a classic look old 3 rd Phase Chief blanket. As with the classic period Third Phase Chiefs. The 9 spot layout, ¼- ½ and full diamonds elements do not extend outside the end bands or the central band. If these 9 spots were removed. The blanket would look like a 1 st Phase blanket. It has the early classic period look. Chief pieces are getting harder to come by so if you like this one. Don’t let it get away! W e recently ... moreobtained this vintage Native American textile fresh out of a large Arizona collection just to offer you here on eBay. It has a nice. Even weft count averaging 26 per inch and a warp count of 8 per inch. The selvage cords are all in original excellent condition. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners are all four tight. Original and in excellent condition. The tassels are all four original and in excellent condition. It has not been cleaned. Is fairly clean now& comes from a non-smoking home. There are a number of scattered. Very light ½” to 1” spots showing in the white bands on one side only. These should likely clean ok with a professional wash. Both sides are even in pattern color and shown in photos above. Colors are great in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded& blended natural black. Brown& ivory white along with hand dyed aniline cardinal red. Complete with lazy lines. Antique Southwest Navajo Indian Rug 30" x 54" Vintage Native American Blanket
Appr. 30" x 54" vintage or antique Native American(probably Navajo) rug or blanket. Great colors(I see seven different) and pattern. Not a lot of bleeding or fading. A couple of small possibly coffee stains or spots that may come out. I estimate the age of the rug to be the 1930s but I'm no expert. I know it's far from new and you can't buy anything near to this quality at Walmart. If you want perfect. This item is not for you but it definitely displays well and would make a great backdrop at a show for you South West jewelry, etc. See pix and judge the condition for yourself.

Antique Southwest Navajo? 48" x 54" Vintage Native American Blanket
Approximately 40" x 54" vintage or antique Native American(probably Navajo) rug or blanket. Great colors(I see seven different) and pattern. Bought by my Mother in Arizona when I was about 10 years old in 1960 when we went on a west trip from Chicago. I am almost positive that it is Navajo but not sure as it had been stored until a couple years ago and she has passed in 1995. Looks like it could be cotton but not sure and the work is intensive with the colors and emblem being still very nice. I tried to get the colors right when I photographed it and it is the way you will receive it. It definitely displays well and would make a great backdrop at a show for your South West jewelry. Etc. A very handsome looking and authentic antique Classic Navajo Single Saddle Blanket! And a Wool Weft of about 24( fine yet sturdy weave- saddle blankets are meant to last! An expertly and beautifully constructed piece! CONDITION: Please see pics! There are NO Condition Issues. **GORGEOUS Antique 19th Century Navajo Transitional Blanket *Weaving* Rug *1890*
Look at this historical treasure I get to have in my possession for a while. This is a beautiful Navajo transitional rug circa 1880-1890. It is in a diagonal eye dazzler pattern with 4 traditional colors such as red. Black/brown, yellow, light yellow and natural ivory. It is in great overall condition for its age. There are a number of scattered old repairs fairly well executed and a few small breaks in the weave upon close inspection(easily repairable) though there are no obvious holes. Corner tassels are all present except for one corner.it is missing one of the two tassels. Blanket is sturdy, clean, and amazing. What else can I say other than Native American weavings are a true work of art. They exhibit talent, creativity, diligence, and a time when hard work could be passed down through a blanket for generations to come. Transitionals ... moreare becoming increasingly difficult to find so I have to admit, this is a hard sell for me. Whether you hang it on a wall, rest your bare feet on it, or bring it out of lock and key to admire on occasion, you will feel the significance of this Native American tradition.
