Vintage Wool Military Camp Europe Blanket GORGEOUS Antique Color Hudson Bay?

I have about 20 military or military collected wool blankets from various countries. People get very hooked on"Hudson bay" but truth is that a lot of blankets came from the exact same wool and weaving. The major difference in the wool blankets is the tightness of the weave. Meaning a smaller blanket would keep you warmer. That is why Hudson bay was so well known, the hunters and cowboys could pack a smaller blanket for trips and still stay warm. I think these blankets are in really good shape for age. No obvious large moth nibbles or wearing. They were in storage for many years after use. They are standard large twin or a little larger size. As most of you know. Sizing was not precise ... moreback then, as long as it fit on your bed, that was OK. There are no major stains, holes, and no smells. Some have some faint dirt marks from storage. I have not dry-cleaned or washed these. What a wonderful addition to t he serious collector that wants a piece of history. This is a gorgeous heather blue. Solid blanket. Very nice color. There are no major stains. Tears or stretching. I'd dryclean it and store properly, nothing else needed. Those that are familiar with Hudson Bay multi points this is the sister product an identical in quality. Most mills used the exact same wool. No stains or holes. Would be great on double bed or would be fine for a queen at the end of the bed. It would be considered a four 3-4 point size. This rare 1800's horsehair buggy or sleigh lap blanket is 60" x 50" and shows a harness horse on a track with judges stand in the background. I can see why it was made with natural horsehair this would really keep you warm in the sleigh through the woods to grandmothers house in the snow. It shows some small areas of damage.probably from moths.where the threads are a little thin. The areas where you see small specks of white in the picture is this thin or open area. This is a magnificent piece that took an enormous amount of time to make and would be a beautiful display or museum item. Antique Esmond Wool/Cotton Camp Blanket Pink and Cream Plaid 66 x 74 Wonderful
A Camping We Will Go! For your consideration. a very early example of the Esmond Camp Blanket dated back to the 30-40s. It is made of wool. At least that is what my burn test indicated although Esmond was best known for their cotton blankets. Since it is so old and it was stored under such adverse conditions, this blanket shows its age. It is freshly washed since I could not offer anything that smelled that musty(yes. You can successfully wash a wool blanket) It's rayon binding is almost worn off all around the edges but the s elvage finished edges are still intact. The blanket suffers from some fading along the fold line as well as two stains. I did find several pulls and about 3 pin holes. However the blanket still retains its charm and usefulness and can still keep a camper warm. It's history is very interesting and it is an example ... moreof Early American Fabric Art. This blanket measures approximately 66 X 74. It still has the original label which makes it a very desirable piece. An old original Victorian blanket box. As its well over a hundred years old. It will have marks, old wood worm holes, small bows and splits but I think it all adds charm. The box was fully treated for woodworm to be safe and secure from any little beasties several weeks ago Inside has the original fish tail hinges and it still has its lock and upper keep in the lid but the key is long gone lost over time The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. Its a early example made from pine not heavy very light to lift. Unlike later examples. One side has trim on the edge the other does not see pictures. Could be used as a coffee table or look fab in a room for the old world look. Original - Antique - Model 1876 - Custer Era - US Army Blanket
Here is an excellent. And original, Model 1876 US Army Barracks Bedding Blanket dating from the time of Colonel George Custer and the Seventh Cavalry's famous Battle of the Little Big Horn. This is the same blanket as is described on page 152 of Randy Stephen's"The Horse Soldier, Volume II 1776- 1943. This blanket measures 65" long by 62" wide and is a light bluish gray in color with a blue stripe on each end. The stripes measure a little under 2 1/4" wide. And are 5" in from each end. These blankets were one of the most basic items issued to each soldier, but they also proved to be one of the most essential items that any soldier could carry. As you can well imagine, they saw rough service on the Frontier, and so, did not survive in great numbers. Today, they are even scarcer than their Civil War counterparts, ... moreas they were not produced in as great a number, and conditions out West were often harsher than experienced by the Armies back East. This blanket has three small holes near it's center and four others along the edge of one end. I have tried to show these as best I could by white arrows in the photos. This blanket would look great rolled up on the pommel of an Indian Wars era saddle. Or similarly displayed with an Infantryman's field kit of the same time period.

Hello- This is a large hand knotted wool piece. Identified as Moroccan. It measures approx. 80" x 87" It it completely reversible, with very minimal wear if any to the fabric, no color loss or fading. It is reversable, traditianly turned over to reflect summer and winter colors. It is all expertly hand done, except the on un-fringed side is sewn with a machine as shown. This can be used as a rug, blanket or tapestry because of the one smooth edge. It is my opinion that this may have been custom ordered for someone who preferred it to be used on the bed, and doesn't appear to have ever been on the floor. There are no tags on the rug, so I truly have no idea of it's age. I took it to a wonderful shop in Mt. View. Ca. and they were very helpful in identifying it as an authentic Moroccan Rug or Blanket. The owner and staff said ... morethat they could provide a Certificate of Authenticity for a nominal fee. They also mentioned that they could assist with cleaning and re-doing(adding 4th strip of fringe) any part of the blanket you like- professionally and by hand. Original - Antique - Civil War era - US Army Blanket
Here is an excellent example of an almost pristine Civil War blanket. It measures 76" long by 60" wide which is almost the original dimensions for these early blankets and well within the range of shrinkage normally encountered as a result of exposure to the elements and repeated washings over the years. There is a 3 1/2" wide stripe on each end sitting 8" in from the edge of the blanket. This blanket is much grayer than pictured. And the end stripes are more of a washed out black, than the bluish color shown here(although the stripes do have a sort of indigo cast to them) The blanket has one frayed spot on one end, and a couple of moth holes that I have shown with white pointer arrows and dimes. The dimes will give you a reference as to their size. There is also a spot, almost dead center, where the weave of the blanket ... morehas begun to separate as a result of it being locked away in a trunk for most of the last century. There is also some soil staining(which should clean out) in the lower left corner due to where it sat folded for so very many years. These blankets do not survive in great numbers today. Due to the hard use they encountered in the field. After"The War" they were either re-issued, or passed on to a multitude of state agencies, schools, and charities where they were simply used up without any regard for their historic value. This is your chance to own a real piece of this country's great history before they disappear altogether.

40" Antique Asian Carved Camphor Wood Trunk Blanket Chest w/Dove Tail Corners
Gorgeous. Completely carved All over, vintage camphor chest. The largest I have seen at 40" long, 19" deep and 23.5" high with the feet attached, 19" without feet. Notice the fitted dovetail corners which gives rounded edges instead of sharp ones. Some signs of wear in the varnish consistent with age but it actually looks even better in person. The HD pictures actually pick out flaws you don't notice with the naked eye. It would make a beautiful coffee or accent table. It comes with original brass hard wear and the padlock/key. Antique or vintage Hand Loomed or Woven Rug/ Blanket/ Throw/ Finland Scandinavian. Turkish, Mexican? I am not really sure where it was made but it is Amazing looking with fine quality craftsmanship and it's still in wonderful condition. It has so many wonderful colors that are as bright as ever also the detail is incredible and it shows very little signs of age or use. No stains, rips, tears, or odors it measures 51 inches by 51 inches and is laying on a day bed and hangs way over the edge. I also believe it is wool. It does have a few small issues( closer to the edge and most on back side) you can see in pics has a little thread lose maybe? But no loose ends or fraying, it is a fine made vintage piece This bed spread or rug has a very"Arts and Crafts" look and feel to it but if you have info to share, please do. ANTIQUE NAVAJO RUG Grey Tan Red Brown Real HOMESPUN Wool Blanket NATIVE AMERICAN
Awesome antique Navajo rug. This is a hand woven wool rug. With rare 8 diamond design, sometimes called a saddle blanket. It came from an estate in Arizona. Considering that this is homespun wool, made in about 1890-1910, it's in great condition for it's age. The collector who had this, kept it hung on the wall, so it was never walked on. One side is slightly faded& there's a small frayed part on one end, but nothing to detract from the original beauty of the piece. The side that was hung against the wall still has a rich red color. Color scheme is dark chocolate, rich red, gray, light tan. This measures about 33" by 44 inches long. The weave is good. Real wool. This is a real antique and you can't get these anymore for under $1,000& many in the condition that this one is in go more in the $5,000 range in Southwestern ... moregalleries. William Randolph Hurst bought several hundred of these during the Roaring 20s, other rich collectors have also stock piled them. I only got my hands on this one because I knew the people who owned the estate. Color scheme is desert style, bold, handsome. Classic Native American Indian color scheme. A good. Rare find. Some of the home spun wool brown fringe is long gone, but the rug has survived in tact, it's a great one! This is collectible and will continue to appreciate with time. It's what I call the good stuff. It has minor wear which is to be expected in these amazing old Native American Indian rugs. There are no spots or holes& both sides are visible in the photos. This auction is for all 4 bisque marked japan baby dolls and their blankets. Dolls are 4" tall. No clothes, one has a broken back, see pictures, since I dropped him on my way to take the pictures. Others may have minor flaws like paint loss and loose stringing, sold as is, as a group. They are marked Japan on their backs, have orange painted hair and painted eyes, very nice little family! Buyer in US pays $7 shipping, outside of US I would estimate $41.50, would not recommend first class which is much slower and less dependable.
