Old Vintage Antique Navajo Indian Blanket or Rug 42" x 80"
From a 30.000 square foot mansion with 3 generations of the same family in residence for 90 years.and they collected some amazing items. This is a 42" x 80" blanket/ rug. I found it with two others(one is not Indian)see my other items. I don't know a lot about old Navajo Native American blankets or rugs.I tried to do a crash course to make sure this one was. And it appears to be one. I decided the best thing to do is just shoot a lot of quality photos of it and let you experts decide. As you can see by the 12 photos it has some damage on the edges.but the colors are nice and it doesn't smell or anything. Thanks for looking!

I will start off by telling you I know very little about this kind of item. And a fellow Ebayer has provided me with the proper origin of this piece. What I can tell you is that this antique Texcoco Pueblo Saddle Blanket, or Serepe, was given to my parents back in the early 1950s by good friends who had just returned from a road trip out west. It measures 56" long by 28" wide, and is in great condition, with no repairs or unraveling. There are some small circular spots on both sides, from the feet of a small table my parents placed on it in the 1960's. It has a"Eye Dazzler" center pattern, and a"Swirling Logs" design in four spots along the edges. A real beauty to add to your Santa Fe Style home, New York loft, or Dream Glamping get away! Here is a neat vintage. Green, wool blanket made by the United Garment Workers of America. It could very likely be an antique blanket as I believe this Union was merged or disbanded around 1914. I'm not sure though. Measures 60" x 67" It does show signs of age and wear. The felt like binding around the edge is damaged and there is some fading to the blanket. No flaws overwhelm it. It remains a very bright, soft, vintage, wool blanket. Overall in good. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE QUILT - HAND MADE and QUILTED - BLANKET STITCHED DESIGN
A recent Estate Sale find. It has been used and does show some wear, especially along the edges. The backing and background was made of a white muslin type material. It was hand made and hand quilted with the applique outlined with BLANKET STITCH. Each flower design measures about 15" and there are 8 separate designs on the quilt top. The size covers the top of my queen sized bed with a little over-hang. To repair the raveling around the edges, a wider edging could be used to also make it some larger. Or use just a binding. It had only been hemmed originally.

So, it is made of old grain sacks, heavy cotton, rough weave, that were sewn together and then doubled and resewn. It has some holes, one bag has it's original printing for Anchor and there are some patches but it measures 72" by 52" x 2. It's very heavy and was found in the large box of hand woven blankets that had been put away many decades before. Actual economy shipping to the US from Canada with tracking and insurance will be 25.50 east and 26.95 west. Unlike large commercial sites we do NOT have handling charges. This original double saddle blanket is quite a rare and collectible one. It is in great shape. I do not think it has ever been used. Just for display. It stands on stile feet and has a three panel front which does not have later carving as so many do. The lock and striking plate are intact. A good large size. Painted Oak coffer c1836 This is the best'ships Masters' captain or owner) coffer we have seen in the last 30 years. From the historic port of Nantes it is constructed of fine oak rather than the typical pine. The decoration is original and untouched and depicted garlands of flowers with two delightfully naïve canary or oriole type birds. It is impossible to pinpoint its history. They were typically commissioned by ships captains or owners and are usually painted though I have never seen illustrations of such a romantic example. The inference is that it is a marriage piece with the inscribed date that of the union. One can guess it was a gift from a mariner/owner to his bride. The photos do not do it justice it is a wonderfully romantic piece and very effective focal piece for any room. We love it. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN SOLID OAK COFFER/ TRUNK/ BLANKET BOX WITH LATER ALTERATION* PLEASE SCROLL DOWN AFTER THE DESCRIPTION TO SEE THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THIS ITEM. IF YOU WANT TO SEE ANY FURTHER IMAGES PLEASE JUST ASK. This lovely coffer dates originally from c.1720. But has had carving and alteration added over the years. Most of the alteration is old, probably Victorian, in date. The coffer has a planked top, and a heavily carved front and sides- we believe that the carving was added later, probably in the early Victorian times. It is supported on straight legs with carved shoulders at the front. The coffer has metal hinges, which are old, although we do not believe them to be original to the piece. The bits of newspaper covering the hinges are dated 1798 and 1799. The coffer retains a lock, but this is wobbly and we do not know whether it works ... moreor not- please note that no key is present. The coffer is constructed from solid oak. Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition. But with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some overall scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded. As is mentioned above the coffer has had significant alteration over the years- the carving has been added, the hinges have been replaced, and the front plank of the top is also a replacement. A piece of wood has been added to the underneath of the top to strengthen it. There are some areas of wood loss, and some signs of old woodworm- this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. The carved shoulder at the left-hand side of the front is a little loose, as is the lock. There is some wood shrinkage cracking to the planks of the base. The top has some scratching and heavy indentation. Please refer to photographs below. Red Painted American Blanket Chest over Drawer Primarily Yellow Pine. 19th Century Item# 130010CPL26 This is a very attractive Painted American Blanket Chest over a single Drawer retaining an early grungy surface over earlier surfaces of the same color. It is a six-plank blanket chest. Crafted practically in a somewhat crude and certainly rural manner; the face and back are nailed into the sides of the case with square iron nails, this hidden behind half-round black painted molding outlining the facade of the case. The bottom board is nailed in even rows along the sides and along the back, beneath which a single drawer slides in and out of the case. The drawer construction matches that of the case, the joints half-lapped and nailed with iron rose heads, these resting over runners of the same[unidentified] hardwood nailed to the sides of the ... morecase with iron rose heads. The single plank top lifts over original cotter pin hinges supplemented by modern hinges for strength, these modern hinges actually the second set of hinges placed on the case to supplement the cotter pins. The result is a smooth operating top, lifting easily to reveal a large storage area and original steel lock(no key) The cleats flanking the case are nailed to the underside of the lid with a series of even rose heads. All of the brasses are added for effect, the original case having only wooden knobs on the lower drawer at some point before it was painted. The case terminates over boot-jack feet. For anyone passionate about country-style American Painted antiques. This is a beautiful little piece that is not only rather eye-catching, but also quite practical. With a well worn and heavily patinated surface testifying to years of use and enjoyment, the chest remains young in terms of strength and possible length of life if well cared for. This is a beautiful Antique Transitional period 1868-90 Rug/Blanket. 48" x 73" Great overall conditions for its age. Excellent weaving. Lazy lines are present. No stains or dye bleeding. Selvage cords,wefts and warps are in good condition. Hand carded and hand woven on a upright loom, with natural handspun grey wool. This rug/blanket has a pictorial cross motif theme pattern. Its origin is from the Crystal Region of the Navajo Reservations. Both side are even in weave pattern and colors. Its been dyed with aniline dye, typical of transitional period weaving. Colors displayed in this Navajo weaving are natural grey wool, orange/red-scarlet,white and black. This Navajo weaving has great history and provenance. The pattern incorporates a repeating diamond"railroad track" pattern. All the beige, grey, brown and white wools are naturally carded Churro Sheep Wools, while the red is hand dyed Churro with an old Aniline Dye(obtained from the Trading Posts of the time) This rug dates to about 1915(1905-1925) and is in used/ worn condition. A very handsome looking and authentic antique Klagetoh Rug- note the Lazy Lines. The Landscape Lines(in brown/grey field) and the Varigation in tone( throughout) ... moredue to hand spun and hand carded wools(characteristics of a true and antique Navajo Weaving) A very interesting and unique piece- a good example of early rug from a well known Reservation Region. And a weaving made during the Early Post Transitional Period(1900-1920 or so) This is a larger rug Rug. The size being approximately 79" X 50" With a hand spun Wool Warp of 8. And a Wool Weft of about 30. An expertly and beautifully constructed piece! CONDITION: Please see pics. This weaving is in used/worn condition with wear from time and use. There is an area of several small round stains(see last pics) which look like they will come out if rug is cleaned, a few small frays/repairs in field, and the end/edge selvage is mostly gone, but NO Fading, NO Bleeding, NO brittle/rotten wool, NO Bug/ Larve damage- most wear is to end edges as you can see from pics(the end and side selvage cords are mostly gone) All of the Warp Yarn Ends are tied off on one end so rug end is stable, and the other end has been sewn of with areas of loss. Vintage Antique Woolen Blanket Fluff Brush Wood Handle Lint Remover, Hoosier Era
This is a very neat old Woolen Blanket Fluff Brush and it is in fairly nice condition for its age. It is 10 inches long to the end of the eye hook with the brush being 5 inches wide at the widest point. The bristles are a stiff material firmly anchored into the wire twist. There are a couple of crushed spots at the base. It looks like someone may have held it there while using it. The handle is wood with an old type of enamel paint. There is a decal of flowers on the cream colored part and the black part has Woolen Blanket Fluff Brush stamped in the handle. There are some scratches, checking and/or chipping to the paint and the end where the eye is has loss/chipped paint. The eye looks like it may have been a later addition. I think you can see the condition pretty well in the pictures. The twisted wire on the bristle end is inserted into ... morethe handle and it holds firmly. It can be twisted or turned and will pull out but it does not fall out. I could not find a maker's mark on this anywhere. Nice old brush that I would date somewhere in the earlier 1900's, maybe 30's or 40's. Great addition to a blanket collection or hoosier type of decor. I try to describe accurately but it is always possible I missed something so please look at the pictures. Consider them the better part of the description and feel free to ask questions.
