Both pieces have minor wear on the outer top rim, lower edge, handles, and on the high-point edges of the busy design. The interior of the sugar bowl has lots of utensil scratches and tiny gouges. Striking 5-Piece Sky Blue Victorian Porcelain Wash Bowl & Pitcher Set France
This auction is for a Fabulous Victorian 5-Piece Wash Bowl and Pitcher Set. The set Displays Wonderfully. It will add a burst of color and will instantly become the focal point of any room. Each piece is marked"France" on the bottom. I am not certain of the maker but by the form and feel and style the set is clearly Victorian and likely dates to the late 1800s. The set is decorated with a beautiful sky blue color against a white porcelain and gold edging. The pieces are molded with a relief leaf and scroll designs. The set consists of a large pitcher(11 inches tall) A large bowl(16 inches across) a smaller pitcher(7 inches tall) a soap dish and a cup. The set is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips in any of the pieces. With the exception of a small hairline in the edge of the cup(see last photo) The ... moreset is also free of any cracks. There is under glaze crazing in the spider web shape on the bottom of the large pitcher(see photo 11) and the loss of gold accent paint, primarily on the edges and use points. Antique Victorian MIDDLETOWN Silver Plate HINGED BOWL Castor Aesthetic Movement
Egyptian Aesthetic This is a wonderful set of ornate silverplate pieces from Middletown Plate Co. of Connecticut. These were made between 1864 and 1899 and are an excellent example of the period's Aesthetic Movement in decorative arts. This set is done in an Egyptian Revival style. A motif filled with alligators, tropical leaves, birds and bugs on a scale-patterned background. This is a matching set- a hinged castor and handled bowl in the same pattern. I am undecided on their intended use- possibly sugar bowl and spoon holder. Or butter dish(no insert included) and knife holder. The tall bowl is cleverly designed so that the lid can be held open or lowered closed with a simple action of the ornate hinge. It is 11" high and 6" across. They had a reputation for good quality and appeared at major exhibitions- they were the only exhibitors of pressed glass at the international exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1862. By 1881. The firm was suffering from the depression. The largest cone at the factory fell, but was rebuilt, and furnaces were relit which had been disused due to lack of orders. From 1882. For your consideration we have a very fine Victorian Brides Basket. This Antique Art Glass basket is most likely Mt. Washington as it is a very finely crafted item. We are calling it Peach Blow as the colors are the same. This bowl dates from the late 1880's it has blown out decoration from top to bottom finished in a lovely ruffled edge. The hand enameling is outside for the most part but also inside as well. The bowl over all is in excellant condition. But it does have an old repair on one of the ruffled areas. It is stable and barely seen. See Pictures) There are no other cracks or chips. The Bowl measures 10 1/2" in dia. and is 5" tall. The base measures 3 3/8" across. The deep blue glass bowl is decorated with heavy enamel work. Motifs include a white dove and colorful floral bouquets. I have not determined the maker-any ideas appreciated. The bowl alone measures 3 1/2" high to the notched rim. 9 1/2" across at the top and 6 3/4" at the base. The bowl is in very good estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs noted. There are scratches ... moreon the bottom-not nearly as noticeable as they appear in the photo. The frame has wide"branch" handles and four ornate reticulated feet. It measures 7 1/2" high, 12" across at the handles, 8" across at the center and 9 3/4" at the feet. The bottom has the Meriden trademark and is numbered"1590" The frame is also in very good shape with no significant wear found. The only issue is that the top of the"balls" on the handles look like they may have been altered. I can't quite figure it out-not at all distracting but see enlarged photo to evaluate. This is an unusual and very impressive bride's bowl and is sure to be a fine choice for a collection. The cost of U.S. insured shipping and very careful packing is $20.00. On auction is a 2 piece glass epergne. I purchased this for myself many years ago as a Victorian epergne. Please see pics as I am not a glass expert! I bought this because I liked it. The pattern is wavy and there are no seams. It is in good condition with no chips or cracks. Total height with trumpet inserted is about 11" tall. The bowl part is about 5 1/2" tall. The bowl is blown of opalescent and crystal glass with a ribbon of light green riagree around the rim and the applied base has crystal petals that have a pressed leaf design on each. The applied crystal branch has pinched thorns through out. Basket is blown of crystal glass with opalescent thorns and there is a ribbon of light green- opalescent on the crimped rim. The opalescent bowl has a few pinched thorns on the exterior of the bowl. Handle is crystal with pinched thorns as well. Unpolished pontil on the base of the bowl. 11-1/4" tall. The bowl has a 6-5/8" diameter rim and the footed base is 5-1/4" diameter. The basket is 6-5/8" tall with a 2-3/4" diameter ... morerim. The bowl has no chips. Hairline breaks or mineral deposit. The basket has no chipped thorns. There is a hairline break at the rim with a teeny chip. As pics will show. Does seem secure. The branch has all thorns complete. There is two point where the basket is held in place. Seems one of the points has a teeny chip. Not visible and found by touch. Believed to be Bohemian and British during the Victorian era. Either from Harrach or Loetz. Very heavy in weight and is certainly a lovely center piece. The artist of this piece did an exquisite job with detailed roses and vines and leaves. It makes the bowl look 3-D with the roses popping out at you. The bowl measures about 5" tall and has an upper diameter of about 3" There are no chips. Cracks, or repairs. It does have some pitting on the inside as well as roughness under the top rim. Both pieces are in very good condition. There are no chips. Cracks or staining on either piece. The transfer image and colors are vivid and clear. The bowl has been broken and repaired in three places. But has worked well for display. The silver plate holder is in very good condition though I have never attempted to polish it, therefore I do not know the condition of the plate. The entire piece measures 9-3/4 inches tall by 9-1/2 inches across. The cranberry glass bowl measures 4-1/4 inches tall, 7 inches across the top with the base post measuring 1-5/8 inches long by 1-1/4 inches across. Offered for sale is this lovely Victorian Quadruple plate frame for a bride's basket. It is an exceptional example with bold wildflowers on the open handles. The frame is made to hold an oval shaped bowl. It measures 9 3/4" high. 6 3/4" end to end and 5 3/4" wide. It will accept a bowl 5 3/4" long and 3 3/4" wide. The bottom has the Tufts quadruple plate mark and is numbered"2276. The frame is in very good estate condition with no damage or repairs noted. The original patina is just beautiful. The frame holds an oval insert in the Early American Pattern Glass"Shell and Tassel" design. It was made by George Duncan and introduced in 1880. Rare and Stunning- Creamer& Lidded Sugar Bowl- Sanssouci Germany; numbered. Absolutely gorgeous green& floral backdrop to a Victorian dressed couple. On the Creamer. They are pictured outside- he is a formal long tailed outfit with knickers and she in her long dress is seated on a bench. The rest of the vase has beautiful bunches, and some singles, of blue, pink, orange, purple flowers; accented with green leaves. It has gold accents on the handle, the edge of the spout and on different sections of the creamer highlighting the green coloring on various sections of the creamer. The sugar bowl has 2 different scences in which the couple is shown. One is standing in front of a body of water with a bridge and the other one she is seated and he is standing. There is some loss/worn of gold trim color on certain small sections of each piece. ... moreOn the bottom of the each rim there are a few tiny rough spots to the touch. They both have the older crown, crossed lines and a large R and C in dark green on either side with SANSSOUCI stamped underneath. It is numbered by hand, 2321-15, and has the word Germany stamped in Red on the bottom of each piece. The symbols on the bottom of the sugar bowl clear and are a little worn off on the bottom of the creamer. The bowl is about 4 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" wide on the bottom. The creamer is about 5 1/4" at the highest point of the handle and is 2 1/2" wide on the bottom. Beautiful, classy and old this would be a welcome addition to anyone's collection. Victorian Satin Glass Robins Egg Blue Opal Rose Bowl
Very nice later Victorian era. So called Rose Bowl, in a very nice shade of robins egg blue with a satin finish, dating probably to the 1880's or so when the craze for decorated opal glass was at it's height, maybe a bit later. As it is when anything becomes popular everybody starts making it, often making attribution for us difficult. Personaaly I think we're looking at a French piece here, probably Vallerystahl or Porteaux[those names often go together] and could go as late as maybe 1910? At any rate you probably have some ideas of your own if you're looking at this, but what I can say with certainty is this. Robins egg blue color opal glass with a satinized[acid wash] finish. With a leaf pattern embossed up from the base. Hand painted gold gilt highlights around the embossed leaves. With a hand painted bunch of delicate ... morewildflowers. 4 3/4 inches high and about the same in width. With no damage. No chips or cracks, just a bit of very minor wear and manufacturing crudity. This is a wonderful antique victorian brid e's wedding silver plate and pressed glass bowl It bottom of the silver base is marked. Quadruple Plate 1219 Van Berch Silverplate, Co. Rochester NY" The item is silver plated with an ornate design and a glass bow l. The bas e is victorian era. But the glass bowl could be a newer replacement. The bow l measures approximately 8 in ches high by 3 inches wide(23cm x 7.8cm) The base measures approximately 9 7/16 inches high by 8 3/4 inches wide(24.7cm x 22cm) Wear on plating and patina. 2 VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER GORHAM REPOUSSE FLOWER BOWLS FLORAL DAFFODIL BOWL
Description I am pleased to offer this gorgeous pair of Gorham Sterling Silver Bowls from the Victorian Era. From my research on Gorham date marks. I have come to conclude that these bowls were produced in 1901. The bottom of each is bears the 20th century Gorham hallmark. Sterling, A2081M, and the hourglass mark, which is the date code for 1901. Each bowl weighs 103 grams. Totaling 206 grams. They are just under 6" across, and 1 1/4" tall. Each bowl features a beautiful daffodil floral repoussé around the outside 1 1/2" rim of the bowl. There are no dings. Dents, breaks, or repairs that i could see. There are a few light scratches, as can be expected with bowls of this vintage. These bowls have a nice patina. One a bit more than the other, as it was possibly stored on top. These bowls will make a great addition ... moreto any Victorian sterling collection!
