4 ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL GLASS PRISM TILES LUXFER 3-WAY DEW DROP PANEL TORCH
A group of four 4" square prism tiles in four different patterns. DEW DROP and PANEL patterns were produced by American 3-Way Prism Company of La Porte. Indiana who incorporated Luxfer in the 1920's. TORCH pattern was produced by Jupiter Prism Company of Davenport, Indiana. PLAIN was produced by Condie-Neal Glass Company of ST Louis. Although originally clear crystal, the magnesium used in the production of the glass has turned all four a pale purple from sun exposure(some are a darker tint than others) These prism panels were used in transom windows, primarily in commercial buildings to try and beam natural light into a long interior with windows only on the facade.The photos in the listing are stock photos for us so you know what we are selling and so I don't have to take photos of every set we list, but all are in about the ... moresame condition the edges were covered with lead in the big windows using I channel and I find a lot of flaking or chips when dismantling the big windows but as I've been cleaning them up I'm picking the best condition ones to send out so you can expect small imperfections around the edges on some of them. This washstand comes in two separate pieces; 1)The marble top, wood and tile backsplash; 2) wood cabinet base that is supported by four nicely turned legs on original convenient casters. Naturally this piece has some minor imperfections but overall it is ... morein very good cosmetic and structural condition; it is strong and sturdy. Not sure of the type of wood. But this spacious cabinet opens with two paneled doors. The doors are beautifully adorned with the original ornate bronze pulls that show a lovely patina. The cabinet finish may not be original. I have owned this for 30 years and never refinished it, I don't know what was done prior. The marble top is one solid beautiful piece. It is ¾" thick with straight edges. The veining color is in shades of browns. Burgundy and creams. It is the original marble top and is among the nicest to be seen. It is very heavy as it sits on top of the cabinet. The backsplash is attached to the marble with screws from underneath. But. The best thing about this is the gorgeous set of original Art Nouveau hand-made, hand-painted glazed tiles. The floral designs are raised and detailed with a 3-D look; these original tiles are in great condition, and the colors as well as the Art Nouveau design, complement the cabinet perfectly. The tiles show light crazing and only one shows a hairline crack. I have not removed any tiles to see if they are marked, but this piece is worth the price

Antique Pottery Minton TILES Stoke on Trent England 10 Pieces RARE MOHR SMITH
I am offering on Auction Style a lot of seven antique tiles and three tile bars from Mintons China Works. This very rare find from circa 1875 consists of cobalt and white tiles from the Mohr Smith Industrial Series from Stoke on Trent. England. Each of the seven pottery tiles measures 6" X 6" and the tile bars are 1" X 6" and 1/2" thick. There are five tile patterns with two being repeated. Each of these depict men doing physical labor. They have the look of strong Greek gods, warriors and lay persons in ancient backgrounds. The scenes are very detailed and there is old English writing such as The Weaver on one. I have noted that two tiles have chips, one of which also has the beginning of a hairline radiating from the chip. There are two of these tiles and the other is in excellent condition. The tiles with the edge ... morewear have no damage to the central picture and these are in very good condition. Each of the tiles are marked on the back and each has cement residue from use. For your consideration is this group of 4 art deco floor tiles by Villeroy and Boch with a total of 7 groups available. Each of the 4 tiles measure 6 5/8" square. Making a medallion that measures about 13 1/4" and are about 5/8" thick. They were likely floor tile and I would guess date to the first quarter of the 20th century. When placed together 4 tiles form an intricate, colorful medallion with a bold geometric design. Each tile is signed but alot of them have just enough mortar residue to fill in most of the signature. They are very nice but they are used, salvaged from a building and stashed in the St. Louis area. Virtually every tile will have some very minor edge chips, some color variation and varying degrees of mortar and grout residue. Nothing that detracts from the strong graphics of these unusual tiles. If any, Hard to tell from whence these originated: Could be Italy. Mexico, Spain, or US. The geometrics and color make us think a Moorish influence, but see for yourself. Removed from wall. Floor or fire place, with resulting chips and flakes on edges. Mortar is fairly light on the back, and shouild scrape off more easily, and won't prevent proper setting, While there is a bit of light red showing. These seem to be stoneware, not terra cotta. VERY heavy or 2-3/4 lbs. each, 3/4" inch thick. 7-3/4" in one direction, just slightly less in the other. Colors are hues of blue jeans. From almost white to brand new unwashed. Clean the tiles with muriatac acid. You should be able to get about 60% good tiles from the batch. These are great tiles for artists and restoration projects. They don't make these tiles anymore. Unbelievable very RARE full set of 17 Antique American Encaustic Tiles LOOK!!!!
You are bidding on a very rare full set of 17 American Encaustic Tile Company fireplace surround tiles. These are an amazing find! They and the Mantle came out of a house on Anderson street in Bristol Virginia that was built in 1907. These tiles amazingly remained undamaged and were removed from this house in the 1980's where they have been safely stored ever since. They all have some find glaze crazing that is typical with pieces this old having been that close to intense heat. They have a mother of pearl iridized looking glaze. They depict a fish in a fishbowl with daisies or some sort of Asters winding there way up the sides and across the top. I have pictured the mantle that they were a part of. There are no cracks or chips that I have been able to find. Upon the removal of some the backs of the tiles show the underside of the mold. ... moreBut all remain intact. Set of Three Antique Art Nouveau Poppy Motif Art Tiles, Lea & Boulton, ca. 1905
This set of three Lea and Boulton majolica tiles. Circa 1905, combines a naturalistic depiction of poppy buds and seed pods rendered in graduated shades of brown with a fanciful art nouveau design in beige suggestive of stylized plant forms. Viewed at arm's length, the contrast between the areas of light and dark color creates a striking third element-an abstract, Rorschach-like form. Tiles 1 and 2(left and center in photo 1) measure 6 1/16 inches square, and tile 3 measures 5 7/8 inches square. All are 7/16 to 1/2 inch in thickness. The following description of the condition of the tiles is based on the discussion of tile condition found on the Tile Heaven Website. All three tiles are in good to very good condition. With minor surface imperfections, including light to medium scratches, very minor corner wear, scuffing on the high points, ... morea few flakes and slice chips on the edges, and small firing imperfections. Toward the lower right corner of tile 2 there's an indentation measuring about 1/2- by 1/4-inch, and lying at about a 25 degree angle. The two ends of the indentation are rough to the touch, but the glaze is unbroken. There are scattered areas of iridescence in tiles 1 and 2, especially in the latter. A large edge chip on the back of tile 1 measures about 1 inch by 1/2 inch. But since it's only about 1/4 inch deep, it's not visible when the tile is viewed face on. The backs of all the tiles are marked"L.T ENGLAND" and the numeral 2. L.T" stands for Lea. Tunstall, where the Lea and Boulton Tilery was based. All the backs are free of adhesive, suggesting that the tiles have never been adhered to a surface of any kind.
